Bets on who loses a foot or face first?
  4. Canon > Nikon My guess is he switched.
  5. Thanks! Glad to know I've got back up. Pun intended :gabe: Oh...and you don't know my luck. I'm not worried about me messing it up...but damn that gremlin that follows me around. I'll never forget my simple changing of a spark plugs one time years ago. Let's just say it started smooth and ended with parts of a plug in places they shouldn't have been.
  6. Done! You're awesome! See you Wednesday. I'll text you details back.
  7. I need to add a blu-ray burner and a new 2tb drive to my newly built PC and while I'm fairly confident I can do it, I don't want to fuck with it if there's a remote chance my feeble brain can't handle it. I helped with building it but a good friend who did most of it is on vacation. Anyone here willing to take 30 minutes to school me? I'm in Dublin but can bring my rig or buy you lunch here Thanks in advance! Text me if you wish 614-795-4907
  8. Porn is so much easier on a tablet isn't it :fuckyeah:
  9. Damn, you just described my life. It's all worth it though....or so I keep telling myself :gabe:
  10. Did I miss the drag strip? Still looking for the strip clubs too.....
  11. ^^ That's a great shot man. Nice vantage Point. From your office or something? I'm seeing a lot of cool places and trips in this thread on top of some good photos. Nice!
  12. I use a Lexar Platinum II 32gb 100x in my HD Video camera and it easily keeps up with the 60P frame rates. Transfers are speedy as can be too.

  14. As noted, it is a kit lens. The one big downside to Nikon overall is their own lack of lens options. You either get kit stuff or very pricey Nikon glass. Sigma is a decent option in some cases.
  15. As further follow up I just want to add to all those looking at DSLR's, keep in mind the real quality is going to show through the lens. All pun intended. I just did a set of edits for a customer with a nice Nikon body and a kit lens and the lens didn't do the body any justice at all. He may as well have had a 5yr old body instead of a nice $1,700 one.
  16. The newer Nikon V1 or Sony NEX7 is what I believe you're looking at? Nice cameras. The Sony has the edge, especially in terms of image sensor and Image Quality. The downside to these is the costs. The cameras aren't cheap and the lenses are not only limiting, but expensive and in the end, you might as well end up buying a DSLR. Size is of a concern I know and that's precisely why I looked at both hard, but in the end, my dollars go further with other gear. The only other downside to 4/3 format is the lack of Depth of Field. It's bad enough with non-full size sensor DSLR's but with 4/3'rds it's really tough. In P&S or really bridge camera group, the Canon G12 is a very nice model.
  17. The year end is almost upon us already. Let's see what you've shot that you love and are proud of this year. Remember, it's not always about image quality, photographic skill, etc....Photography is painting with light but it's the story and emotional response the photo tells and conveys that count too. Everyone is welcome to play and of course, repost images from earlier. Who cares!! Watermarks Optional :gabe: Begin: I'll lead off with two sets that are near and dear to me for obvious reasons. I have posted these before but updated and corrected the exif data. Studio shots taken with a Canon EOS 5D MKII and 24-70mm f/2.8L USM and el-cheapo Home Depot Light Set up. (Click images for larger size showing better detail) Sophia is my sweetheart and the reason I own and will buy more shotguns http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/140457224/medium.jpg Nicholas the day before his big hair cut. I just love this shaggy look. How I wish I was 8yrs old again. http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/139245512/medium.jpg Action Shots taken with a Canon EOS 40D & 100-400mm f/4.5-f5.6 IS USM Lens Soccer: Nick had fun and played with spirit this year. I think this photo shows his drive and the footprint on his shoulder his tenacity and toughness for such a little guy. http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/134156412/medium.jpg Monotone: I love toned images and cars are a fun part of CR http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/133620899/medium.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/137558280/medium.jpg As cool as cars are, mother nature beats them out in my book http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/136123428/medium.jpg Her beauty is meant to be seen in full color though http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/137888261/medium.jpg The young appear so innocent http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/137617858/medium.jpg I lost a friend in the Afgan war thus this years celebration on the 4th hit home a bit more. This was a compilation for Doug and a design I used for the announcements that went out to those of us that celebrated his life. http://i541.photobucket.com/albums/gg378/pdqgp/Inbox/th_9-11-2011.jpg http://i541.photobucket.com/albums/gg378/pdqgp/Inbox/th_eaglepostersmaller.jpg
  18. Stock, their slow from a roll on the highway and must have a pretty low speed limiter as I've run one and either he plain shut down every time or hit the limiter he didn't know he had Very nice trucks though. I'd own one for sure. Ford is really coming a long way interior wise.
  19. What's a post like this without Pics :gabe: Wife and I got Kindle Fire's, which she is currently reading up on all the details of and I've yet to fire mine up because I've been trying to learn all about digital video editing and burning, etc... We love mobile Devices http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/140538801/medium.jpg I got a Sony HD Video Camera http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/140538641/medium.jpg New wallet/case for my 4s http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/140538405/medium.jpg New Camera Lens Thermos. I got the coffee mug one last year, but this year she got me the thermos to use as I've been drinking a lot more water / tea in the car. http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/140539014/original.jpg The rest is minimal because I'm going to have fun playing with the kids and their toys, including camping out with the kids who got a shit load of stuff including a 4 person tent and gear. My son can't wait to try it out when it snows as it's rated to like 0 degrees
  20. Nice. Little noise reduction cleans it right up. Would easily print without grain. Send me the originals if you need them done. I like Nik Dfine2 the best for NR in Photoshop.
  21. I'm a photog, not a video guy. The two are like cars and bikes when it comes to post processing.
  22. Got a new Camera, Sony HD that creates .mts files. Comes with some basic decent software for burning the movies to DVD's and BluRay's. I'm likely going to install a BluRay Burner on my PC next week and enjoy the quality. However, if the clips are short enough, it seems I"m able to burn some high quality stuff to DVD's too. The question is what's the best way to do this? If I convert the .mts files, what format should I move them to that would retain the very best quality and be easy to work with? I have more questions, but let's start with the above. Thanks!
