Yep, it's cool. Maybe next time! And they must have fixed the dip at the end of the track as I have zero problems with the track. My only real complaint is that they don't prep more. I'd like to see them charge an extra $2 per person and prep the track to the 60' mark atleast.

It's always a good time at Marion. Really like the track because it's much more relaxed and can talk to more people in the staging lanes. Always been a favorite of mine. Plus, if you can work on your suspension and dial your car in on a slippery track like marion, it makes you much more consistant when you visit different tracks throughout the state. Plus if you can hook there, you know you can hook anywhere.

Bunch of people from CR showed up, didn't see you guys though. Huge C5/C6 showing. I think there were 3 C5's and 4 C6's there. Marion probably had no clue what was going on, lol. Nice seeing some new faces! My Z didn't do too bad considering they only prep the first 8' or so. Was also only running 7-8psi (roughly 750rwhp) because I didn't have time to get race gas before going. Still went 10.71@136.83 (first pass, did an 1/8th mile burn out) 10.16@137.43 and 10.29@139.67 Starting to get the car more and more figured out going down the track, now just need to work on the suspension more and see what I can do about getting my 60's down.

Might be a repost, but oh well. Pretty bad ass!

Mark and I are going, would be nice to have a bunch of others show up as well. Plan is to hit up Sonic afterwards. Anybody else coming? Gates open at 5:30.

What's the most supprising to me is that the car actually hooks up on the street at any roll at any power level. I doubt I could launch at 1krwhp but it hooks fine from 40mph. That being said, I don't drive around at 1k because the trans can't handle it. Tomorrow Mark and I are only going to run waste gates, so roughly 750ish and should be running consistant 10.0's, but we'll see..

I wanted to do a car that hasn't been done before. Which is why I decided to do a C6Z. If I just wanted to go fast and not spend as much as I did, I could have easily done a C5 or F-body. And yes, the car will have a 10 point cage and chute next year. I want the car certified to 8.50's. Does anybody know what the MPH is though? I'd almost worry that my MPH would require the next level of cage, which I will not do. -
Overall I think I'm pretty close. If my memory serves me correctly, I'm shooting 2" left and 1" under at 25 yards. I could take my first shot, use the boresight and it's grid to get me pretty close. As soon as I get some free time to go shoot, I'll PM you to come borrow it! Appreciate it! Jason

Only down side is that guy has a solid rear axle and I'm still pushing my power through the IRS. What I don't get about his time is how he has .8 seconds on me (8.49 vs 9.32) when his 60' is only .28 better. That should only be .45 seconds. When you look at my 3 passes, .1 60' was almost exactly .15 ET. So, the only thing I can think is his gearing pushing him through the 330' that much faster, or I'm spinning worse then I think I am. http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/4165/img1615lh4.jpg -
I'm also running the Hornaday SST's through a SBEii. If you want to get together sometime, I'd appreciate it. Last season I got my gun only a few days before deer season started and never got the scope zero'd in and had to use iron sites, then when I went to get it dialed in, the scope kept having problems. (i.e. coming loose a few times, pushing the scope backwards etc..) I've since gotten a new scope and it's been pretty rock solid, but I still need to get it on. When I do it myself, I can't even manage to get it on at 25 yards, because I'm not use to shooting a shotgun and end up jumping after the 4th shot or so.. I'm a slug gun rookie! lol Jason

Now that I think about it, I bet that's the Vett Doctors C5. BTW - This is the C5 I'm after I highly doubt it will happen this year, but you never know. With the skinnies and new front springs, my 60' and especially 330' times should drastically be reduced. -
Which one has a 100yd range? I need to get my shotgun sited in. Was doing it at New Albany gun range, but since it's only 25 yards, I can't get the gun how I want it. Anybody intersted in going with me sometime. I wouldn't mind getting help doing it, as shooting slugs sucks ass after about the 4th one. Gun crew getting together anytime soon?

Not that anybody I know is aware of. I know there are a couple C5's running in the 8's, but the fastest one we heard about was 9.42. And the fastest MPH one was LPE's TT Z06 that went 158. Let me know if you can confirm any C6 faster then 9.32, so I can work for that time next. lol -

Thanks everyone! The care is doing great, I couldn't be happeir! The cars driveability is amazing with the only problems being in stop and go traffic when it's 95+ degrees outside. And even then it's only a no ac problem. Car will climb to about 235. We have some things we are going to try to solve this problem over the winter. Next, I'm going to try and swap out the APS exhaust for a corsa exhaust to quite the car even more. Not like it's loud now, I just want it to be a complete sleeper, but I'm thinking the 10 point cage painted to match the car will be a give away? -
I guess LSX = real racers around these parts...

That would be a lot of fun. I really want to do some of the 1 mile events though. See how the car does. I really need another 300wheel to compete though, so maybe next year! -
Whats more unsafe. Taking a 2007 Corvette designed to go 197 mph with side/front airbags and roll over protection low 9's @ 159 Or driving the car on the street with a 10 point cage so if I get into an accident I have the potential to hit my head on a steel bar that is surrounding my head. With that said, I am getting a 10 point cage this winter so I can go to these events with out any problems. Plus the cage will stiffen the chassis more and give the car more consistant launches.
-
I don't mind the move, this gives me time to get some skinnies and my front suspension dialed in! I think I can get my 60's into the low 1.4's, high 1.3's and shoot for 8's.

If it rains on Saturday are there any other rentals at Norwalk available? -
I think we are going to try and get everyone to skip the CR rental and go to RPM's rental in Indiana. Trails wont let us run so it's pointless even going. If someone wants my spot they can have it.
-
Thanks for all the compliments! It's been a long hard road and it's certainly been worth it! Mark and I are heading to RPM tomorrow to rebuild both transmissions so we can be ready to go on Saturday! Hopefully they will prep the track real good, I'd love to get my 60's down and maintain traction going down the track to push for an 8 and 160+ traps. I had a few passes that I just couldn't get to come together. Literally spun the entire 1/4 mile because I lost my momentum.

And I personally could careless what LPE puts out. 99% of all the cars they make don't get raced or driven at all. Norms car is a one off LPE car that probably has 400k into it. The car has only ever seen like 30 street miles and is only ever driven at track events. I'd like to see any other Twin Turbo Corvette pull off 30 1krwhp dyno pulls, thousands of street miles, consistant high trap speed passes and have the motor still be alive. I'd love to see it. I can drive my car across country if I wanted to. And your absolutely right, IPS isn't LPE. LPE woulnd't have stayed late numerous nights till 1am, 2am, 3am etc to get the cars ready for track days to turn around and wake up 2-3 hours later and have several employees go to said track days with the cars. As far as their own fab work, we paid $15k for the APS twin turbo kits and IPS fab and installed countless upgrades to fix the kit to work properly. Why do you not see more 1krwhp twin turbo APS Corvettes running around?? Because IPS has two huge in house specialty items that they made themselves that nobody in the country has to fix problems that nobody else can solve. Oh and IPS had a LPE TT car in their shop a few weeks ago with the exact same problems we were seeing from the APS kits. So why is it so magical that you don't hear about problems from owners of LPE cars, because the cars aren't raced. People build the cars and put them in their garage until they are tired of looking at them and then turn around and sell the cars for huge losses. I know of a few LPE C6 TT's that have sold for less then 1/3rd of what the cars have in them. Mark's gotten offers for over what he has in his car. Maybe that wont be the case 10 years from now, but that LPE TT 10 years from now sure isn't going to be worth much either. So your right LPE isn't IPS but sometimes get MUCH more going with a smaller shop that actually cares about you and your car. LPE could give two shits less if they ever build a car faster then mine, and why should they. They'll get their business. That's my rant.

I must say this track rental was the most amazing track day I've ever been too. Here is a list of the cars New Porsche 911 going low 10's @ 145 New Porsche 911 going high 10's @ 140 That Sweet ass Evo going low 9's @155 Jamies soon to be 7 second Supra Cavins badass 1krwhp Supra Then both Z's Plus there was a 11.5's @ 127 neon and a bunch of other just good running cars. Hell there was an 11 second Caliber! It was like every car there ran 11's. It was like the stars aligned to get all those cars there at a random track rental and it was amazing watching all the cars run. My favorite to watch run was that Evo. Mainly because we were going back and forth beating each others times, then my tranny went out and I couldn't catch up. I still had the top MPH at least! lol Of course Jamies launch on slicks was sick!
-
Yep, just called and they absolutely wont let us run. Said they will be following the NHRA rules. Said if we are barely under 11.5's he wouldn't see it being too much of a problem, but if we are running 9's it's going to be an issue.
-
Mark and I want to go, however I think they will give us shit about not having cages.
