I do! And Marion isn't so bad. It's as good as it's always been. Great people there and a fun place to hang out and keep the racing off the streets. I just wish it wasn't so damn far away!
-
Well... Your really not allowed to. The guy was just really nice when Mark and I went. It's basically a way to get a couple passes in and then go home. The other option is to go to Marion County. Though the track is a little furhter away.

Welcome John! Can't wait to see that beast in action. Lets plan on hitting up trails this Friday. Hopefully LPE set up your suspension, your going to need it! Here was two of my passes last Wednesday at trails. http://img53.imageshack.us/img53/6251/028dy2.jpg John has been on the scene about as long if not longer then myself. About 11 years now. Just too bad your car is STILL slower then mine!! lol JK

I think we should focus on getting more track rentals going and try to keep it off the streets more. This is a pretty big chunk of the regulars and I'm glad Marks car was broke, because if it wasn't, I know for a fact we would have both been out last night. This is a bad situation for those that got caught up in it last night. However, we all knew/know the ricks when we participate in this type of behavior. I must say I'd be pissed off if I was arrested and they didn't have solid proof I was racing or didn't catch me in the act. It's like going to a bar and arresting everybody that was drunk because they knew they were probably going to drive home. So yes, I get mad and pissed off when an officer is mean and rude to me, but in the end they are doing their job. Why do peole insist on turning things into ebattles. To call all police officers names and say they are worthless, is ignorant. Yes I agree a lot abuse their power and are ass holes, but look at what they have to deal with on a daily basis. The average american is an idiot and lets be honest, if an officer pulled you over and wrote you a ticket and was a complete asshole, you'd be much more likely to slow down, then if they pulled you over told you how nice your car was and let you off the hook. Hopefully these guys will be able to beat this. I really feel for them and it's unfortunate they had to spend anytime in jail. I think simple tickets and court dates would have been sufficent. However, if they set up a a sting to specifically get them, they wouldn't be that easy.

First time at the strip in the car and......
LPFSTheFett replied to LPFSTheFett's topic in Passing Lane
I footbraked it to about 1800-2000rpms, but didn't want to go any higher(I can go up to 3200ish) Doing anymore then that and I would have just blown the tires off more. This isn't out of the question. However I wont do this unless I can put some Fbody rear breaks on the car and then run a 15" rim. Then I could throw on some 14.5" wide Hoosier QT Pros. Those are the tires that took my 95 Formula 10.2@130(on a trans break). Then I could build boost on the line and really come out hard!!! My goal this year is to drive it to the track, run a 8 second pass and drive it home. The only problem is, the only track that I think would actually let me do this would be Marion, which is 1.5 hours away. Breaking at trails is nothing as I only live 30 minutes away and can go get my trailer. I figured I was fine on my ET, but waited by the car after my second pass. I figured he was going to freak out about the 145 trap speed. I think the only thing that saved me was it was during a bracket race and the trap speed didn't show on the tower, so it may have slipped by. The 144 however did show on the board. But we were gone before he would have made it by. He seemed like a really nice guy though!! Just to let us run again was awesome! -
First time at the strip in the car and......

Thanks for all the compliments! I would almost add a chute now to be honest. Espeically if I can get more MPH out of it. I've never driven a car with this much MPH before. I've been 10.2's, but was only at like 129-130 or something like that. Even with the Z06 breaks, it was a bear to get stoped. I can't even imagine stoping 160. Jamie - Do you use the chute on your TT Supra? I know that thing hauls ass! -
I think I'm ready to go. We need to plan a date that we can all get together! I'd like to do some 60 rolls instead of 40 rolls though. I can actually almost maybe hook 60 in 2nd gear.

First time at the strip in the car and......

I think with the right tires, these cars will be 60' machines. My first pass ever with the new build was 10.91@130.x with a 1.733. (only 5psi) Still spun really bad obviously, but damn I'm not complaining. Also I only had 1/8th tank of gas, so was missing a good 100#'s in the back. I was running late to the track and didn't get a chance to fill up. Yeah, I'll get it to trap 160+, just a question of when. A lot needs to happen and traction is going to be the biggest factor. Plus I'll need to be on full boost and there is no guarntee the transmission will be able to handle it. Only rated for 800-850rwhp. Coltboostin is right though, it's going to be hard as shit. 130 to 145 is an easier move then 145 to 160. -
It was flying. I'll try to get videos up, but I don't know how to convert Mpeg2 to an AVI without losing a TON of quality. Here are the timeslips. I was pushing through about 12psi(figure 800ish rwhp) on Sunco 94. Best part, I drove it to the track and drove it home. http://img53.imageshack.us/img53/6251/028dy2.jpg It was spinning really bad out of the hole but I think I'm on the right track with the suspension. Next I'm going to change from the 345 BFG's to 345 M&H's. They are 2" taller and a better compound. While I don't expect to get a full wrinkle, I think the bigger sidewall will help a ton. Plus it will effectively change my gear from a 3.42 to a 3.23. First time out, I'm not complaining. Plus it has a ton more in it. Hell the DA was 2600.

Nobody posted it, so I will. lol.

I'm going to be there at 5ish and going to try to make a couple passes before they give me the boot. Curious if anybody is going already and wouldn't mind taping a couple of my runs(I have a camera). Really want to see what the car is doing at launch. Plan is to do a 6psi pass and then 9-10psi if I get traction on the first. Lemme know! Jason

Good Video! I've seen the buttons before, I thought they just shut the flow of gas off. lol! I like that site lol. Check this one out. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=f86_1189163768 Totally off topic, but hey!

Dynamat's effectiveness in masking Exhaust Drone?
LPFSTheFett replied to LPFSTheFett's topic in Passing Lane
Well, I've been told to add about 50#'s to the back of the car anyway, so what better way to do it. -
This UFC sucked ass. Every fight went 3 rounds, not much action. And they were on Forests ass all night. The way they were talking, I can't believe they even made them fight, should have just given it to Forest. lol. Forest kind of reminds me of Chris Byrd. Points a lot, but doesn't do much. Though, his leg kicks were nasty! Jason

Dynamat's effectiveness in masking Exhaust Drone?
LPFSTheFett replied to LPFSTheFett's topic in Passing Lane
I installed 5 sheets in the back so far, which covered just about everything except the wheel wells, and I think it helped some, but not really all that noticeable. It did help a ton with road noise and making the cabin more quite overall. It also has seemed to lessen drone at certain RPMS more then others. It's crazy too because from outside the car at WOT, it's fairly quite considering. Just that damn drone. -
Anybody have 17x11 ZR1 Take Off or Replica Rims FS?
LPFSTheFett replied to LPFSTheFett's topic in LBTS GLWS
I'm also considering doing 17x11's because of the 17x11.5" ET street they sell, but I think I may pass on this. Whatever I run on the track I want to run on the street. Don't want the Z to look like a purpose built drag car, though that's probably where it's going at this point lol. -
Lemme know! Jason

I'll probably need a good month to get this thing figured out. Then wouldn't mind meeting up with you up around norwalk and hit the streets after. I'd like to see your Supra run sometime as well, that thing is a BEAST!!

Thanks for all the compliments! I'll get the traction thing figured out.. The reason I say the A6's is because some guys on the Viper boards have been raving bout these tires for years. 1100rwhp Vipers getting traction at 10mph on the street. A few nights ago I tried heating the tires up prior to running, and it didn't help at all. I still spun all the way through 2nd and into 3rd. The other option is to get a set of ZR1 17x11's with MT ET Streets on them. One of the Z06 guys has been cutting 1.4 60's with these. Runs 10.02@140 on them. I just don't want to have to run skinnies

The line lock was put on by GM to go to that event. The guy is retired now, but they made a limited edition Z06 Corvette in his honor! http://images36.fotki.com/v1202/photos/8/850413/6277215/DSC_7497-vi.jpg

haha, lets see.. Viper was in the shop for 65+ days because the window wouldn't roll up correctly and exhaust paint was flaking. Everytime I took it in for any problem, they would instantly respond with "Not covered under warranty". Wasn't until 16 months after I purchased the car that the window actually got fixed, and I took it to two dealerships. Even then it started having a grinding issue. On real hot days, my power steering pump would whine (of course dealership couldn't duplicate) Clutch was slipping slightly, probably a product of the Supercharger, but they wouldn't even look at it...... Oh and did I mention the rear end went out in it, and Caldwell voided my warranty becasue of the supercharger, even though they didn't even have a viper tech on staff to look at the car.... They didn't even move the car from when I droped it off, I had to have it towed to another dealer because they weren't allowed to work on it... They just knew it was on there and voided the warranty. Fuck Dodge OR.. I put 100 1/4 mile passes on a Z06 and multiple "laps" around 270, no break in miles (3 trips to the strip before 500 miles were on the car). Springs are only good to 7krpms and I'm sure power shifting every gear at 7100+ weaked them. So when the motor did blow at 3k, hard to really blame the car itself. Even then AJ had my car fixed and turned back around to me within 2 weeks! AJ was upfront and honest with them about the mods on the car and they said get it fixed. That might explain some of my reasoning. lol And everybody is right, really impossible to say what this car is going to do. I need to work on the suspension, something is off. I can't even hook up waste gates on the street at 50mph. Plus I'm going to switch out the BFG's to a Hoosier A6. Much stickier and some of the big HP Viper guys have been running these with great success.

Thanks for all the comments! They are GT35R's and I'm not 100% sure how much boost it can handle, but I know it's good for our goal of 1200-1300 wheel. Understand that's totally a dyno number and really have no plans of ever racing it at that level. I'd be perfectly fine putting down 1k and being able to plant that on the track. Yes Linn, bring it down! I have some suspension tuning I need to do though. I think the back is too soft and that's why the car is skating all over the place when I get on it. Jason

Viper is going to be gone Thursday. Decided to get rid of it. After the problems I've had with it, wasn't really worth it anymore. My intention was to never have both cars to begin with. I just had so many problems with the car early on that I got the Z06 to play with instead. It's going to be nice only having one.
