  1. Yeah I know. I'm not going to be able to autoX the vett this year. Going to have to come up with something, that's for sure!
  2. It's been on a steady decline since 97 when I started going out and I know it was on the decline prior to me going out. The sport is expensive and a lot of people like to go to the track, but don't because lines are too long, get too much crap about not having enough safety equipment etc.. Taking it to the streets is really risky and most aren't willing to take that chance, very understandably. Plus the longer your in the sport, you grow to realize that shit breaks all the time. The faster you go the more you break and it gets discouraging.
  3. Right now from 40mph, I like to be in 1st gear but on this new build there is no way I'll get traction. I want to know what my numbers to the ground will be in 2nd vs. my car as it sits now in 1st. Basically want to know how my car would stand up to itself in a race lol. 1st gear, 2.66 in transmission, 4500rpms, I currently make 380rwhp and 460rwt (max hp/torque is like 500/480) I think with the new setup 2nd gear, 1.78 in transmission, 3200rpms, I should make 300rwhp 500rwt (tuned down to 800rwhp/800rwt) Would my old setup pull instantly and then my new setup have to catch up to pass or what? Pending I get traction of course. And if my old setup were to pull out front instantly, how many cars? Not sure if it matters, but I think my rearend gear is 3.42. Is first gear 3.42 x 2.66 x 460 = 4184? and 2nd gear 3.42 x 1.78 x 500= 3043? If so, looks like torque would catch up w/in the next 500rpms
  4. Two sides to any story too... well.. really three.
  5. The Viper is really a special car. A person has to want the car so much that they can look past, burning their leg when they get in/out of the car, and being cramped once in it. Then they have to look past paying $20,000 more then a Z06 and have no options what so ever in the process.(no traction control, no navigation, no heated seats, heads up display, power seats, and a radio that sucks ass) Have to understand that once you buy it, if your over 6' tall, you have to buy a seat lowering kit, just so your head doesn't touch the roof while your in it. But to me personally, I was ok with all that because it was a "Viper". Afterall, it was my dream car and I always wanted one. So then I got one and it was a nightmare. The paint quality and build quality are really not up to par to my Z. The dealerships are a bunch of idiots and don't know how to fix problems with it. Mine was in the shop over 70 days for the same two problems, that are still not fixed. When there is a problem, Dodge mandates you jump through hoops to get it fixed. (i.e. they need to take pictures of the warranty items in question to see how much Dodge will pay to fix it) It's retarded. It's really no wonder Dodge isn't going to make the Viper anymore. Don't take care of people spending $90k on a car and they wont buy another one, or any other Dodge products for that matter. I was going to buy that Challenger when it came out, F that. All that said, I will probably still buy another Viper at some point, but probably the last production year and just leave it stock. I love the looks of the Viper, just man... wtf

  8. Now saying that this continues at the same rate.... We've done 508 numbers in 9 days. That's about 57 Numbers a day. It should only take us 17543 days to complete this. Or roughly 48 years.. http://www.coverbrowser.com/image/detective-comics/508-1.jpg
  9. Yellow C6! Is there really any question? http://img457.imageshack.us/img457/8733/norwalk00114da0.jpg
  10. Zane - I'd like to see what it runs for sure. Line you up next to my Z for a pass. Can put $20 on it. The car is basically stock I haven't changed any of the exterior panels or my seats. Someone needs to get Mario to this track rental. I wouldn't mind running against him.
  11. Time will tell, but I'm guessing so. First night is the same day as the CR Track Rental. I plan on hanging out for it. Hopefully, they don't give us shit for busting out an 8 second pass with no cage. If they do, I'll plead my case. "But I drove it all the way here, how was I suppose to know what it was going to run. It's basically a stock car with a few bolt ons"
  12. I like how it performs, just not too thrilled about the styling. And while it's faster thent he stock Z/Viper at the strip, it will get it's ass handed to it from a roll. Until your talking modified vs. modified then that AWD will make a huge difference. And yet, we have another car that will run below 11.5's stock and can't go to the strip because it will be too fast. NHRA/IHRA really needs to make a new set of rules for these newer cars coming out. All these cars have roll over protection and some, like my Z, have both front and side air bags. None of these things were found in cars made 20 years ago which is what the rules are being made for.
  13. Watching the Bee one, tells you it's all fake. Has to be.
  14. Check out http://www.camaroZ28.com or http://www.ls1tech.com for good deals on used parts. I'd highly recommend getting parts used vs. buying them new. You'll get more for your money so can get the better parts with out the higher price.
  15. It really depends on what you want. I was going to buy an F430 spider, but there was no point, as in I'm not going to race it, I'm not going to take it up to the local hang outs. So for me The Viper was the perfect car regardless of price. That didn't work out quite as I planned so I got the Z06 regardless of price. Just so happen to have both, the Viper will be gone sooner or later, hopefully sooner. Even if the ZR1's were out when I got my Z, I'd still probably purchase the Z. Knowing that I was going to pull the motor and change the FI anyway. What would I do with a big hole in my hood. If I wasn't going to buy either of the two I have now, I'd say Ford GT. Will be a timeless clasic. They only made like 3,000 and have been holding their value very well. Plus the the rear engine and I think 42/58 split is perfect for a drag strip or a roll.
  16. I'd have to agree with the bottle pressure. Your fuel pressure is going to remain constant, so you have it jetted for a 75 shot. Then when your nitrous pressure drops (lets say your at 600 #'s) your spraying a 40 shot of nitrous(if that) and running the car extremely rich. Then as far as nozzel placement, just watch to make sure that the nozzel is facing the TB and that when the kit is spraying, it's not pointing the nozzel to the other size of your intake bellow. Don't worry about the mistakes, we all made them. I'm an all or nothing kind of person. The first Nitrous kit I installed by myself, I forgot to remove the sharder valve for the fuel. And not wanting to waste time with different jets. I put the 150's in to test it with. So in essance, I tested a 150 Wet Nitrous Jet by itself with no fuel... It was fast! I'm just glad the motor didn't go kaboom. Ran the entire bottle that way till I found out.
  17. I'd have to agree that it might be fake. Also notice that nobody even stoped to see what was going on, they just kept driving as it happened.
  18. I want one as a pet! No seriously, if I could get say a 50-70lb cat as a pet that I knew wouldn't eat me or my kids, I'd have it!
  19. I like MCIR a lot, I wish they would pave the pits though. I hate driving through all that gravel all the time.
  20. Congrats Sam! Will that be able to tow your RX7 too?
  21. There was a big post on this not to long ago, figured I'd remind everybody. Again my vote is the plane will take off just like normal! Jason
  22. Pretty much any rwd sports car is a no no in cold weather. I wrecked my first Corvette because of cold roads and rwd. AJ, you going to sign up for the autocross class? I'm wanting to, but not going to take the Vett and hoping the Viper will be gone by then. May have to get something else, not sure what though...
  23. I'm sure we can get enough for a couple more resprays. I don't plan on making as many passes as I did last fall, but want to make sure the passes I do get off are as good as possible.
  24. This is very sad. I wish there was something we could do for her as well. I know we want to keep to our own, but this is equally bad for her. Even if she doesn't die, this accident will haunt her forever.
  25. I'm not saying street racing is right. I'm merely stating that there are plenty of things that are dangerous and cause accidents and don't get the coverage of this.
