  1. I think Porsche Club has one at Columbus Motor Speedway this weekend - pm "Crossle" here on the board
  2. Yea, I know, there are dozens of guys claiming to have these, but this was a good list - none of them will reproduce and the "winner" was unique this year!!! 2010 DARWIN AWARDS You've been waiting for them with bated breath, so without further ado here are the 2010 Darwin awards. 8th Place In Detroit , a 41-year-old man got stuck and drowned in two feet of water after squeezing head first through an 18-inch-wide storm sewer grate to retrieve his car keys. 7th Place A 49-year-old San Francisco stockbroker, who "totally zoned when he ran", accidentally, jogged off a 100-foot high cliff on his daily run. 6th Place While at the beach, Daniel Jones, 21, dug an 8 foot hole for protection from the wind and had been sitting in a beach chair at the bottom, when it collapsed, burying him beneath 5 feet of sand. People on the beach used their hands and shovels trying to get him out but could not reach him. It took rescue workers using heavy equipment almost an hour to free him. Jones was pronounced dead at a hospital. 5th Place Santiago Alvarado, 24, was killed as he fell through the ceiling of a bicycle shop he was robbing. Death was caused when the long torch he had placed in his mouth to keep his hands free, rammed into the base of his skull when he hit the floor. 4th Place Sylvester Briddell, Jr., 26, was killed as he won a bet with friends who said he would not put a revolver loaded with four bullets into his mouth and pull the trigger. 3rd Place After walking around a marked police patrol car parked at the front door, a man walked into H&J Leather & Firearms intent on robbing the store. The shop was full of customers and a uniformed officer was standing at the counter.. Upon seeing the officer, the would-be robber announced a hold-up and fired a few wild shots from a target pistol. The officer and a clerk promptly returned fire and several customers also drew their guns and fired. The robber was pronounced dead at the scene by Paramedics. Crime scene investigators located 47 expended cartridge cases in the shop. The subsequent autopsy revealed 23 gunshot wounds. Ballistics identified rounds from 7 different weapons. No one else was hurt. HONORABLE MENTION Paul Stiller, 47, and his wife Bonnie were bored just driving around at 2 a.m. So they lit a stick of dynamite to toss out the window to see what would happen. Apparently they failed to notice the window was closed RUNNER UP Kerry Bingham had been drinking with several friends when one of them said they knew a person who had bungee-jumped from a local bridge in the middle of traffic. The conversation grew more heated and at least 10 men trooped along the walkway of the bridge at 4:30 a.m. Upon arrival at the midpoint of the bridge they discovered that no one had brought a bungee rope. Bingham, who had continued drinking, volunteered and pointed out that a coil of lineman's cable lay nearby. They secured one end around Bingham's leg and then tied the other (!) to the bridge. His fall lasted 40 feet before the cable tightened and tore his foot off at the ankle. He miraculously survived his fall into the icy water and was rescued by two nearby fishermen. Bingham's foot was never located. AND THE WINNER IS... Zookeeper Friedrich Riesfeldt ( Paderborn , Germany ) fed his constipated elephant 22 doses of animal laxative and more than a bushel of berries, figs and prunes before the plugged-up pachyderm finally got relief. Investigators say ill-fated Friedrich, 46, was attempting to give the ailing elephant an olive oil enema when the relieved beast unloaded. The sheer force of the elephant's unexpected defecation knocked Mr. Riesfeldt to the ground where he struck his head on a rock as the elephant continued to evacuate 200 pounds of dung on top of him. It seems to be just one of those freak accidents that proves.... 'shit happens' IT ALWAYS SEEMS IMPORTANT TO THANK THESE PEOPLE FOR REMOVING THEMSELVES FROM THE GENE POOL!
  3. They can be addicting. (love mine!)
  4. Rain date???? We race at Nelson in the rain - they cancel track days for rain? (OK, well I guess I can understand, sort of, but jeezzz)
  5. I've got a call in to the guy - he has a few other "new" items for sale (unrelated to the kart). Waiting to see if he calls back and will see if he gives an address to check them out, or if he just wants to meet up somewhere.
  6. A guy in the karting community had a trailer and kart stolen a couple of years ago. It recently surfaced on CL - he pulled the trigger and called the guy and thinks his number was recognized. Local police (not Columbus) are not real motivated to pursue this - told him it might take a couple of weeks to run down the number. Trying help him out to see if his stuff is sitting at this guys house. PM me for more specifics if you can help us out.
  7. BTW - 1st in class (OK, we were the ONLY ITS car), but 4th overall, just missed the podium. Over 8 hours of the race in rain! And in case you ever wonder why you don't see many Porsches out on rainy days??? Brand new 911 at the race, qualified on pole, after about 2-3 hours of rain someting got wet - car went into "limp home" mode. Couldn't be fixed trackside and retired!
  8. 2.5 hours equals about 65 mph average speed - 1.5 about 106 AVG speed. I think we'll do a bit better than 2.5, but I don't need the hassles that come with the 1.5 trip on public roads. :zoom:
  9. Or perhaps a nice open pit barbeque just upwind of it??? Or better yet - a Gay Bar-B-Que! Bar-B-Queer?
  10. I'd be up for a scramble, possibly a 2 man, but 3 or 4 tends to work out better.
  11. Pat's picture is actually from 2 years ago when this was last run as a 24 hr. "Independent Racer" was a shop on the east side of Columbus that specialized in Datsun/Nissan into the '80s'. The owner helped several of us get started in racing. Nelson Ledges is about 2.5 hours NW - just outside of Garrettesvile - or just east of Nelson, OH on S.R. 305. Race is from noon Saturday till midnight. We've got a solid 3 driver line up, all of which have lots of experience at this race, and in this car. Typically they can run low 1:18 times at will. Sean, Pat & I are running up EARLY Saturday due to work commitments. We will make up almost 1/2 of the "over the wall gang". Sean and Pat on tires and mechanical - I will be dumping fuel and doing the mileage calculations. Looking forward to a great run - and seeing a lot of old friends!!!
  12. Still a fan - they are a local ban that verged on breaking out into "the big time" - still enjoy seeing them play!
  13. Mine was a bit easier as I just purchased the house - I think they just looked at the purchase price and that was it. A good place to get some additional information is the Franklin County Auditor's sight: http://www.franklincountyauditor.com/ Go to "Your Property" at the top and then "Property Search" in the pull down. Once you look up you property there are several options for looking up other property in you area. If you live where there are a lot of similar houses, you can sometimes come up with comparables in either current assesments, or in sales value using the recent sales report - remember - figures don't lie, but liars figure!!! Despite having the purchase contract, I also was able to show my house was appraised higher by square footage than several comparables in the area (all with like bedroon/bathroom count & square footage)
  14. Very, Very Cool. Must what again in HD on the big screen when I get home!
  15. Yea, I know, $35 and present your stuff to the judge, then maybe he orders a title, maybe not. I just don't have the time or motivation to pursue it right now.
  16. Just like it says - purchased this as a "Lemons" project, decided to stick with the several new kart projects right now. Photos and details here: http://columbus.craigslist.org/pts/1885666929.html $850 obo 1991 Toyota MR2, 2.2L NA, 5 spd, t-top car. Shows approx. 148K miles, but would consider mileage as "unknown". Lowered (stock springs included), white face gauges, pillar gauge pod (gauges not hooked up), drilled/slotted rotors (rears installed, fronts till in box), Grant Steering wheel (stock wheel w/good airbag included), cold air intake, no exhaust. I was told when purchased it had a new clutch and fuel pump installed, but cannot confirm this. It does occassional not start due to a balky fuel pump relay (approx $50). I do have some extra interior parts, console, some dash trim, OE radios (condition un known). (Usually) starts, runs drives well - good solid car w/cosmetic issues. I DO NOT HAVE A VALID OHIO TITLE FOR THIS CAR - I am listing it in the parts section due to this fact. I have an original New Jersye title, signed and notorized to another party, after that there are just Bills of Sale due to one party moving out of state before completing the transfer. I purchased the car as "Lemons" race car project, but do not have time right now to complete. While it MAY be possible to get an Ohio title, I am selling this as a "parts car" or it can be a "race car", but at this time it could not be licensed.
  17. Set of Enkei wheels - 2 ea. 17x7, 2 ea. 17x8. "Dual" bolt pattern 5x100 & 5x114.3, Has near new Hancook Ventus tires, 205/40R17 fronts and 225/45ZR17 rear - see pics and details here: http://columbus.craigslist.org/pts/1885647677.html $650 obo
  18. Yea, I want to have that available for some places I need to get in (and out of).
  19. Looking to downsize to a small pickup w/4wd. Must have: V6 (prefer 4.0-Ranger/Mazda or 4.3 GM) Automatic (just because it's easier to back the trailer up my driveway) A/C (working or not) Extended Cab Would prefer: Under 100K miles '96 or newer Doesn't have to be perfect - but I don't want to fix tons of rust. Looking to spend up to about $3K, or may be able to trade w/cash my 1991 F150 2WD x-cab if they need to upsize. Just figured I'd post this up - tired of rooting through CL junk & stories...
  20. Try the "Purple Power" stuff available from most of the retail parts stores. We used to buy this in bulk to clean bays when I was at Procare (a million years ago). Wet down the area, spray this over the area (or pour on) and go over it with a stiff broom/brush, rinse and repeat if needed. It's not too expensive and seems to have worked well for me. If you're going to reseal they make a special sealer specifically to go over oil stains (I know - I had to "buy in bulk" when I redid the driveway here).
  21. Blue one looks pretty good - wheels look like some K-Mart wheel covers. "Gold" version looks like it should come with some gold chains for the driver to wear as well, just tacky.
  22. Yea, I know you said 4x4, but I'll throw this out there anyway. 1991 Ford F150 XLT Lariot, White w/tan interior(bucket seats w/console) X-Cab Shortbed, 302, Auto, 2WD, 118K miles. Power windows & locks, cruise, air, tilt, bedliner, hitch, brake controller, sliding rear window, AM/FM/CD head unit (forget the brand) - some dings and scratches, but very little rust - $1800. If you think it might work, send me a PM with email and I'll get some pics to you - or get you a number if you want to take a look
  23. I know that guy!!! Well sort of, I followed his 911 in an Opel Manta at a track day at Nelson Ledges many years ago. I caught him, and at that time he would point me by on the straights while accelerating away (then I was running over him in the corners). Fortunately, he STILL had his instructor riding with him (this was Sunday afternoon) and it looked like the instructor was chewing his ass out to slow down and let me by on the straight, he did on the back straight, tucked in right behind me. I went through the kink flat out (such as it is in an Opel) and when I checked my mirrors at turn 12, he was over a football field behind already. I'm sure he was looking for the faster run group too!!! They were out there then, now and always will be - more money than brains or talent. Per the comments below the video - should be required viewing prior to any track day. If you aren't laughing, smiling or see the humor in this - you should be banned!!!
  24. Set of 4 15x8 Factory "turbo" wheels for the 79-81 Turbo T/A's. 5 x 4.75 bolt pattern so they fit a bunch of GM stuff. These also have conical steel inserts installed so they mount with conventional acorn style lug nuts - not the big $$$ factory style lugs. Leftovers from an old project - time to go. $125 See pictures here: http://columbus.craigslist.org/pts/1862309578.html
  25. Yea, they're a class act. The spring after my father passed away they called my mother, she told them no, they proceeded to tell them they had spoken my father had told them to go ahead with the service this year. They will never service my property, period.
