Do you want a roll race car or a dragstrip car? For a drag strip car, buy an automatic 5.0 and slap a turbo kit on it with slicks and call it a day. The auto trans is stout, and you'll never be as quick with a manual. Why ford never offered an auto in the gt500 is dumb as fuck.

+1 I don't have the slightest clue what's going on in this thread. Normally I'd be a little embarrassed to admit it. From what I gather this seems to be a debate about some bullshit website :dumb:

+1 someone help this guy out. again, you don't need matco tools. sell them if you can, as you only need craftsman tools at this time. your meal ticket is going to be your wife getting a nursing job.
-
This. I hate posting in this thread but I will anyways. You should not be buying Matco anything. I know that you're a mechanic of sorts by trade, but Matco/snap on tools should not even be on the radar for you at this point. Buy only what you absolutely need, and buy cheap or used. Craftsman, harbor freight, etc. do NOT start any type of tool buying account until you're more financially stable and have a more professional job--like as a full time tech at a dealership type job. You can change oil, and do just about any simple car work with craftsman tools, and on the off chance that a $1 socket breaks---fuck it, they are lifetime guaranteed. I'm not a professional mechanic, but neither are you. Sorry to come off harsh, but you need all the advice that is given in this thread, even if it tastes like shit. Do what you need to do, to get your wife to pass her nursing boards, and pass on the first try. That will be your health insurance, and your steadiest source of income/employment. Don't waste the money she earns either

looking good. my 3 kids still love to roll out in my GTR, i just hate watching them climb over the center counsel and then kick me in the back for the duration

No gains from the downpipes?
-
Holy shit, What are you doing on a car forum? You should be designing cars. I dig it. What are the specs on the car? Expected gains from down pipes, etc? It's either fortunate or unfortunate, but catbacks almost never add more than a couple hp these days. The stock systems are that good. They just don't always sound that good

Sell. You have a buyer---not easy to find interest in your specific car The price is right. You may not get both again in the future, or at least the near future. Sell.

Great video, and driving. Sucks to see a car like that go down. A clean rx7 is definitely on my bucket list

Want to buy convertible, found this, LSX what?!
kirks5oh replied to SpaceGhost's topic in Passing Lane
Ls3 as stated, for that price. You have to worry about nothing. Great car, great motor, tons of aftermarket support, the list goes on -
i'm still waiting on the green light from NASA

who the hell am i going to find for a sweet 80-200mph roll race? or you know, until one of us stops accelerating

Huge difference between just getting by in the snow with a 400+ hp rwd car, and being able to drive an awd car hard as balls in any weather.
-
Buy a car with a piss-poor, mismatched combo and you'll regret life. It comes down to knowing the platform and mods. And seeing how it drives

Dress pants, shirt, and tie. Always. Never wear jeans to a job interview.

You're definitely right. Many times, the guy moving on to the next car has already made arrangements to buy it, and just needs to unload the previous car. At least that's the way I've done it the last four times. Getting rid of the old car is almost an afterthought at that point Edit::: Traded in my gto for the ctsv and got $15k. Would love to have the gto back Traded my ctsv for the rs7. No regrets so far. Sold my highly modded '04 cobra to get my gt500 for $21k. Mistake. The cobra was a mid 10 second car in perfect running condition. Traded in my '05 exploder for my raptor. I can't remember what I traded it in for m maybe $4k? It only had 75k miles. Would have loved to not trade it in at all--just charge random people $0.50 per hit to put that pos out of its misery.

+1000 Having owned multiple 500+ hp stock cars (two turbo cars, three blower cars, and one n/a car) there's a palpable difference. Hit the gas in a turbo car (rs7, GTR) and you're flung forward with the feeling of a rubber band. Hit the gas in a positive displacement blower car (gt500, ctsv, cobra) and you're shoved in the back Hit the gas at 4000 rpms in an ls7, and its like getting hit in the back by a 10lb sledgehammer. Nothing compares. My buddy has a stage one s6 which is no doubt low 11's, and he shit his pants when I ran out third gear in my z

It depends. Anytime someone says "car just needs a tune" or "just needs this done", then I would run. Power adder cars add a level of complexity. A bolt-on lsx car is no worry. If you're familiar with the platform, and the car checks out, drives fine, then go for it. The best situation to buy a modded car is where someone is trading up. They have their eyes on the next car and have already forgotten about the previous one. Take it from me.

Impressive Welcome to the site

you either go to disney to have fun with the kids, or you go to have a blast as an adult---its tough to do both. i've been the last 4 years with my kids and have focused the experience on them---my kids are 7,7 and 6. a lot of the attractions that i like, they would not tolerate. i guess i could bring my nanny, but that defeats the purpose of seeing the kids' faces when they experience the magic. there are tons of things to do as an adult---you would not think that's the case, but it is. its very difficult to have a BAD experience at disney. especially if you plan the trip in advance. and there's no one better to do that, than a disney planner. i used a planner on the last trip and it was incredible. they know exactly which rides need the fast pass, when to go on those rides. what places to eat, when to eat there. they got all the princess makeover stuff for the kids, etc etc. we had a planned lunch at norway in epcot--i was like, wtf, norway? of course, that was because all the frozen characters were there. my kids went apeshit, nuts, loved it. the planner also got multiple deals/discounts that easily paid for her fee and thensome.

damn, good luck with the sale. put it on svtperformance and corral and i would think it would sell quickly

yeah, great find on the mach1. definitely a unique interior with the gauge cluster. many don't know this but the automatic mach's came with a cast crank if i recall, where the manuals came with a forged crank, and handle boost nicely. i can't recall the reasoning behind that.

i believe the first impression is everything. i have a limited amount of time to invest in giving people 1000 chances to not be a fucking douche. my opinion of him is concrete. you comment that you feel sorry for me, yet find me amusing? :dumb: there's a difference between free thought, interesting debate, and just disagreeing to hear yourself talk/try to be smart/edgy/etc
