  1. I think Meyer just loves plucking kids from other schools so he loved getting Williams and Reeves (who is at least useful on ST) from PSU when their shit hit the fan. McMillan is hard to figure out right now. Announcing a week from tomorrow. Most people think the biggest competition is Bama but some Clemson commits from Georgia feel he's theirs. OSU people have felt good about him for a long time but it's faded. I really think a new DC would help some of these kids look a lot better than they have. Kinda like a new OC helped the offense all of a sudden start putting up ridiculous numbers. When the OC's balls don't retract into his chest that is.

  3. It's just one guy. A guy they needed but it's one guy. He was telling OSU people that he was going to sign with OSU. But Jameis sold him on FSU. "Come to FSU and you get to play in front of all the NFL scouts watching me next year." It's been trending away from OSU for a while. nevada is far from "my boy" though. It seems he's been almost completely cut off as far as inside info is concerned. Mavety was the only ==== for a long time and it's a miss. More traditional guys like Derek Young and Jeremy Birmingham are the ones with the best info now. Not the rich guy whose parents donated a ton of money to OSU to pay for the tennis facilities. Back to just a general feeling on recruiting... it's not going to take a hit. People thought recruiting would take a hit after Florida and LSU and what happened? Tressel brought in the most talented classes of his career at OSU. Meyer has shown an uncanny ability to bring in a seemingly better prospect when he loses out on one late in the game so we'll probably see some stud OT that we weren't even thinking of end up at OSU now.
  4. OSU opens as a 3-point favorite. O/U has to be somewhere north of 70.
  5. Mavety announcing tomorrow morning at 9AM. Will be FSU.
  6. Last time OSU played Clemson Woody Hayes punched a guy and got fired.
  7. ESPN's Brett McMurphy says BCS games are set... FSU-Auburn (title), Bama-OU (Sugar), Clem-Ohio St (Orange), MSU-Stan (Rose), Bay-UCF (Fiesta) OSU been to Orange Bowl just one time.
  8. And on the point of getting blown out in the national title game... if the offense is called properly this team can score on anyone. MSU's defense was no joke but if the offense is called right OSU still puts up 40+. Against this defense FSU or any other decent team on the national level will also put up 40+. So you end up with something like the SEC title game yesterday.
  9. Coombs coaches special teams which have been fantastic and CB's which have been far from the issue. Reeves has been iffy but his starters, Roby and Grant, have been more than adequate. The issue in the secondary has been the safeties. Losing Bryant hurts but Barnett and Brown have been around forever and got completely lost in coverage so many times this season. That's on Withers. Coombs' units are fine and his recruiting is fantastic. He's got a lot of options at CB next year and he only has to replace one.
  10. I don't know, I think slowly the talent will be upgraded across the board with Meyer's classes. Assuming Braxton and Shazier are gone... QB - JT Barrett, Cardale Jones, Stephen Collier RB - Ezekiel Elliott, Brionte Dunn, Warren Ball, Rod Smith, Dontre Wilson, Parris Campbell WR - Devin Smith, Evan Spencer, Corey Smith, Michael Thomas, James Clark, Jeff Greene, Jalin Marshall, Curtis Samuel, Noah Brown TE - Jeff Heuerman, Nick Vannett, Marcus Baugh OT - Taylor Decker, Kyle Dodson, Darryl Baldwin, Kyle Trout OC - Jacoby Boren OG - Pat Elflein, Evan Lisle, Chase Farris, Billy Price, Jamarco Jones, Demetrious Knox DE - Noah Spence, Joey Bosa, Steve Miller, Jamal Marcus, Tyquan Lewis, Jalyn Holmes DT - Michael Bennett, Adolphus Washington, Joel Hale, Tommy Schutt, Michael Hill, Chris Carter, Tracy Sprinkle, Donovan Munger OLB - Josh Perry, Trey Johnson, Darron Lee, Chris Worley, Kyle Berger, Dante Booker, Sam Hubbard MLB - Curtis Grant, Cam Williams, Mike Mitchell CB - Doran Grant, Eli Apple, Gareon Conley, Armani Reeves, Damon Webb S - Christian Bryant (maybe), Vonn Bell, Tyvis Powell, Cam Burrows, Jayme Thompson, Devan Bogard, Ron Tanner K - Kyle Clinton, Sean Nuernberger P - Cam Johnston LS - Bryce Haynes Out of all those names I somehow think Urban will find a way to field a decent team...lol. I don't know what Michigan loses but they have to come to Columbus. And it's Vonn's brother. I can understand the frustration. I mean, none of us like watching Pitt Brown out there. I think the most interesting thing this off-season is going to be coaching changes. Does Withers get the FAU job or does Fickell? Can Urban lure a big-time DC to Columbus in their absence? Does Herman still get a HC gig anywhere? He got tight at the end of last season and it looked iffy and he got tight again tonight. Can Urban keep Warinner here? With so many new faces on the OL a good OL coach is vital.
  11. They've asked. Like I said, they will find out before the bowl game. If it's no then he'll try to play in the bowl game. If it's yes then he continues to rehab and get ready for next season. He missed a lot of games I want to say his freshman year due to injury (a foot thing I believe) so they can add it all up, say it was a whole season and give him an extra year. lolwut
  12. Vonn Bell should slot right into Barnett or Brown's spot. Christian Bryant might get a medical redshirt. We'll know before the bowl game. Grant is fine at CB. Not great but nowhere near as bad as Brown and Barnett at the safety spots. Then at Roby's CB spot you've got guys like Eli Apple, Cam Burrows (who could take the other safety spot if Bryant doesn't get the redshirt), Gareon Conley and Armani Reeves () who will fight for that spot. I'm more worried about the LB spot. Shazier is the best on the team and even he makes a lot of mistakes but he'll likely be gone. Curtis Grant is OK but can't seem to stay healthy. Josh Perry looked as lost at there as the safeties most of the time he was in. Guys like Mike Mitchell and Trey Johnson who will be in their 2nd years in the program or even true freshmen like Kyle Berger, Dante Booker (might be a future DE instead of LB) and Sam Hubbard might get a look there. DL should be nasty moving forward.
  13. That loss is on Herman. The defense is bad but it's been bad all season. The offense came out bad (flexing Hyde out wide? Umm... what?), dug itself a 17-point hole, got back to what they normally do, climbed out to a 24-17 lead, then started doing the same shit that got them in a whole leading to 17 straight for MSU again. The playcalling to get down 17-0 then the 3rd and 3 at the MSU 40 where they didn't run Hyde once were atrocious by Herman. Hyde should have had 25-30 carries tonight but instead had 18 where he averaged 6.6ypc. 6.6ypc and you don't run him ONCE on 3rd and 3 when you know you're going for it on 4th down anyway? Just awful.
  14. Simon did over 40 in HS. He also broke his back lifting one time. Definitely a beast.
  15. Also Marcus Hall will not start tomorrow night per Meyer. For the two-finger salute to the crowd. Hopefully just sits out a series or a quarter at most.
  16. That whole saying "SEC" thing and walking away was, I thought, a pretty obvious joke. They can absolutely sell being in the SEC as a part of their total package but they have to do a little more than what I mentioned... as a joke. Missouri has already shown the ability to be successful in the BCS era and have walked into the SEC and are competing for a conference title in just their 2nd year. Kentucky has never been good at football. Because they're a basketball school. They've shown maybe a higher level of commitment to football now hiring a Stoops brother. They currently have the 16th rated class in the country for 2014 which would be good enough for 3rd best in the conference if they were in the B1G. Kentucky is taking recruits out of Ohio that normally would have gone to Michigan State, Wisconsin, Penn State, etc. Because they say "SEC" and walk away. Also, if you want to see someone's head actually come off (main reason I came into the thread just now)... http://i.imgur.com/09g2B7M.gif Not posting it as an image in case people don't want to watch a head be blown off and bounce off a wall in a suicide bombing.
  17. I think Missouri is closer to larger talent pools. And now they can just walk up to a recruit and say "SEC" and walk away. I think it's close for the reasons you said but Washington isn't "much better." I'd choose Washington over Missouri in a heartbeat myself but I've wanted to live in the PNW for a long time.
  18. He stayed so long at Boise State because of his son's cancer but now that he's older and a little healthier (from what I can tell) I guess it's OK to move up a bit. Will be interesting to see if Peterson can fare better at a BCS school than Hawkins did. On the surface it looks like Washington may have actually upgraded but Hawkins looked like a great hire for Colorado at the time and he went 19-39 in just under 5 seasons then didn't coach anywhere for a while, took a job coaching in the CFL this year and was fired 5 games in.
  19. Teddy Bridgewater just had 2 unbelievable plays on that drive.
  20. I think his jacket came up and covered his head. There would be a lot of blood somewhere if his head came off.
  21. I think the Winston thing was handled poorly and honestly I think its handling had more of a chance to hurt Winston than help him. Just going off what little I've paid attention to from the story this could (and should) have been cleared up last winter. Because of the TPD's mishandling of the case it popped up at the worst possible time for Winston but it ended up having little to no effect. This Meggs guy is the same dude who charged Laveranues Coles and Peter Warrick with felonies the last time FSU won a national title and charged another FSU player with sexual assault in the mid-2000's who was eventually cleared so he's not going to shy away from charging someone if the case merits it.
  22. Those of you going to the game, they're expecting 5-8" of snow in Indianapolis starting early tomorrow morning. And according to people in Indianapolis their road crews are... less than adequate.
