APR down from 988 though. I say fire Gene Smith. :gabe:

http://i.imgur.com/tDUTZEU.jpg Looks good to me. Read that construction would take place between January-August 2014 so it'll be ready for next year. Should close a little more sound in. Probably means a Cleveland spring game or something for 2014 though.

It's cute that all those awards aside from the compliance thing came before the NCAA stuff. I don't think he's done an awful job overall but the way he handled everything throughout that mess was about as bad as it could have been. Biggest issue seeming to be that he's a bit of an attention whore. Needed to respond to/comment on anything and everything when all he really needed to do was shut up and let things play out. I think OSU will be hard pressed to find someone as good as Gee who made plenty of dumb remarks but did a ton of good that really mattered. I don't think they'd have too hard a time finding someone who can do what Smith has done.
-
I believe he will still be using up a scholarship. Just technically a 2013 one instead of a 2014 one. And yeah, kid looks legit. Hopefully he can be our very own Brad Wing.

Like I said in the other thread, one of the best OSU insider's sources is saying that he PROMISES Smith is done now. We'll see. I think it's the same source who had Urban to OSU a couple months before it happened almost to the day it would be announced.
-
Yeah, I don't get why he'd be gone as a result of this but a good source of you know who is "promising" that this time it's true...lol.
-
He wasn't forced out. He received a "no vote of confidence" from the board of trustees. Wexner told him he should probably bow out as gracefully as possible at this point (after 2 or 3 public relations gaffes in the last few years). This has been said before and hasn't come true yet but people believe this will be the end of Gene Smith as well. He had nothing to do with Gee's comments but maybe Gee had his back a bit? I don't get that but it's being said. As far as I knew Schottenstein was the big-time Gene Smith backer and he's still there. Name I've read for Gee's replacement is current Case Western president Barbara Snyder.

Apparently ol' Geno isn't too happy about no Nebraska 3 years in a row. Wisconsin avoids OSU, MSU, UM and PSU (aka the best teams in the East) 2 years in a row. Nice little welcome gift for Gary Andersen.

Doubt the rest of the conference steps up. The way Stoops at UK is taking basically all the Ohio talent just below OSU/UM/ND level away from B1G teams like MSU, Wiscy, etc. is not good.

Yeah, nevada had Winovich to OSU about a month ago and as recently as a few days ago he simply said until he heard otherwise he would keep the ==== on him. I honestly think Winovich was a little scared of competition. Sounds like sour grapes but the kid saw higher rated prospects at the same position that were wanted more by OSU and Michigan alike choosing OSU so he decided to be Michigan's consolation prize. OSU will still be getting Raekwon McMillan so that'll be nice. And this is the 3rd year in a row that Michigan is out to a great start recruiting, ahead of OSU even. And the last 2 years Urban has pulled ahead late. I expect nothing different with this class. McMillan, Kyle Allen or Brandon Harris, hopefully Jamarco Jones, etc., etc.

Said stuff about how Catholics can't be trusted (with regards to inviting ND to the B1G), that schools like Louisville/UK don't measure up/fit in with the rest of the B1G academically and that once the SEC learns how to read and write maybe they'll figure out what the B1G is doing. The last bit was in response to some SEC honks making fun of the Big Ten having 14 teams and not being able to count. I believe the permanent lighting is already approved/planned for 2014/2015. And it'll still have the same Horseshoe appearance it has now really. Unless they demolish the south stands (which obviously they won't) and close it all the way around that way there's no way to get a perfect oval. So you still get a U shape with a flat, closed end for the most part.

Also, a proposal to expand the stadium by 2,500 seats is supposed to go to the trustees or some committee or whatever next week. Good news since A&M's expansion was going to put them ahead of OSU by about 120 seats. Haha A&M! You lose!

That bit is from the cfb subreddit. Posted about a week ago. nevada on Scout (who seems close-ish with Nike stuff) kinda beat around the bush on the subject which makes me lean towards it being at least partly true. Maybe a few alternates for the night games on the road and at home. Love that 5 of the games are already 3:30pm or later.

I don't know about you guys but I love me some carcinogens.

People seem to think the Dawkins thing is more of a "does he have an offer or an OFFER" situation. If they do accept his commitment that would be decent news for OSU in the pursuit of Kyle Allen. And that sounds about right for him being gone just for a certain amount of time. OSU OL Marcus Hall lost his scholarship for a bit due to a plagiarism thing. Redshirted that year and of course starts now.

ND's starting QB kicked out of school for cheating/plagiarism on a final.

I think anyone with half a brain realizes what these movies are setting out to be and rate them accordingly. Of course you'll still have some critic snobs who give it an F or 1 star or whatever just because it has no shot at an Oscar but I like it when reviewers go in knowing not to take anything too seriously and give an appropriate grade. I believe Vin Diesel has already said there will be another trilogy for the series after this one. Even if they don't get massive Avengers/Batman-type numbers here they rake it in HUGE overseas so they won't stop pumping them out anytime soon.

Gonna have to be careful he covers the Kinect before fapping or else everyone will see it.

Also, this is something that I'm skeptical to believe but absolutely thought was a possibility when listening to the reveal... The Wired.com article where they did an in-depth look (they got a hands-on look before the reveal so they could have a nice article on everything when the reveal did happen) says that all multiplayer games will use dedicated servers. This is HUGE for games like COD or Halo where lag can be a huge negative factor (last 3 COD's have had to experiment with various, awful forms of lag compensation to try and make things better which has really just made things worse). During the reveal they said when Xbox Live launched they had 3k servers. When 360 launched they were at 15k. Right now they're at around 30k and when the One releases there will be over 300k servers. That is just phenomenal. The 3 biggest things I'm hoping for right now are... 1) the console having the ability to play various media types from networked devices. I already play music playlists from my PC on my 360 when I game but if they could just add .mkv...lol. Probably won't happen but if it did I'd never do anything on my TV through anything but the One. 2) hoping for a One version of GTA V. Just a straight port from the 360 is fine by me. I just don't want to have to switch between consoles when I feel like goofing off in GTA. 3) hoping my cable box/DVR system works well with the One and all the Kinect features.

I always imagine a life like the "sloth" guy in Se7en would be best for people who deserve it.

PS3 had hit or miss backwards compatibility, basically none after their first wave of consoles. PS4 will have none. I don't remember Xbox 360's all that well. I think most worked and some even looked better on Xbox 360 (ie. Halo 2 - but it didn't play as well IMO).

I think the "fee for used games" thing is being misunderstood. Apparently even by Microsoft employees who told a tech/gaming site one thing only to have another Microsoft person call in to correct it. I still don't know what exactly is going on there but I don't really care either since the only time I've bought used games in the last 5-6 years were really old COD games that I just bought to check vs. the current ones. And I think some of the TV/Kinect functionality is awesome. You say "watch Animal Planet" and it just goes to it instead of having to remember a number. Or "watch Breaking Bad" and if it's on, it goes to it. If it's not, it brings up the various streaming/renting options on Hulu, Netflix, Amazon, etc., etc. As you're doing matchmaking in a game like COD or Halo and waiting for a game to be found, you can be watching TV/browsing the internet then the second a game is found you just flip right over to that. Can you do that now with multiple inputs or multiple TV's? Sure. On the same input/same system/same interface/same everything in an instant? No. I'm definitely more in it for the games and I have no doubt that Xbox One will continue to bring me the things I enjoyed and chose Xbox 360 over PS3 for but the new features are very intriguing. And if my plan works out hopefully I end up with one of each anyway.
-
This is my plan as well. When PS2 came out I was too young to care about making money off it. I didn't do PS3 but when Xbox 360 came out I had to think real hard about opening and playing mine on launch day when I saw them going for $1k or more on eBay. I still ended up waiting in line at Best Buy a month later to pick up another to make a few hundred from. I'll place some pre-orders around town when the prices are announced, pick them up on launch day, check online prices, if they're not going for much more than retail I'll just return them.
