  1. Although they definitely aren't a shop "desperate for work," Northend Wrench is expert in doing a meticulous inspection. PM Sean (Crossle on CR) for details. They don't have a discount rate, but the little extra you may spend with them will likely save you big down the line. Imports, German especially, are their forte. I take them my cars before any interstate rally.
  2. The car wash on Sandusky is still there (and even upgraded its equipment), but Christian doesn't live in Delaware anymore.
  3. With some advance notice, I can do this at the Hangout. One drawback is that there needs to be a total of two people during the spraying part of the process, as the water on the floor needs to be directed with a floor blade to keep it flowing out of the garage. I can do it for you if you don't have a helper along. Most of the winter I wash my cars right outside the overhead door and then move them inside for drying and detailing. However, when it's below freezing, I do it all indoors. I can get the bay around 60 degrees, but the floor remains cold, so boots are a good idea. I have all the equipment you need, but I suggest you bring your favorite products and drying cloths. There are electical outlets, decent overhead lights, and nearby restrooms. Let me know in advance so I can set the time aside. I used to post threads about doing this on weekends but only had 3 or 4 takers total, so I stopped offering it routinely. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68596
  4. As Jones said, Absolutely! It's open to all CR members, new, lurker, OG ..... everyone. It's understandable that members are a little timid when they first walk through the door, but just introduce yourself and make yourself at home. If a room with 8-10 people is overwhelming http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/lineup2.jpg just wander back to the office or to the garage where it's quieter. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/hangout/005.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/hangout/012.jpg You can bring fastfood in if you want. Non-alcoholic drinks are provided free. There's foosball, video games, movies. Most people are there for the fellowship. Spouses/girlfriends/boyfriends are welcome. We're a fairly benign group. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/Hangout11-29-13_zps81e4d637.jpg
  5. It's okay to bring a lurker, but he has to come inside and not just stand outside peering at us through the windows. :lurk:
  6. Well, the roads should be decent tonight, so we'll open at 9 p.m. If you're interested in meeting somewhere for dinner earlier in the evening, feel free to post the discussion to this thread as well. The Hangout: Howald Industrial Park 320 London Road, Suite 101 (in Building 100) Delaware, Ohio (no more OPEN sign in window--it died last week, but there are Christmas lights marking the place now) The inside is smoke free, but you can smoke outside the entrance, using the smokers' station at the door rather than the shrubbery and parking lot as your ashtray. Since folks sit on the floor, please knock the snow off your boots at the entrance. Questions/problems: Text me at 740-405-5565. All CR members are welcome!

    Friday 12/6

Kinda weak on the interest for the Hangout. We'll shoot for Saturday night. Be careful out there!

    Friday 12/6

I will open the Hangout if there's interest. There's a big parking lot to drive around in, but you're liable for any damage, of course. Delaware popo love to come in and threaten people, but I'm willing to argue with them. (No one's been cited yet--it's private property and I have permission).
  9. I didn't have a lot of interest in the style of the c7's until I saw the Callaway shooting brake kit, I think it's called the Aerowagon, which costs around 15k: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/IMG_0919cropd_zps4eac2a36.jpg In my mind, the squarish taillights are redeemed in this treatment. Just in case your new C7 wasn't getting enough attention, the shooting brake guarantees your appearance on cell phone videos.
  10. Back on point, the 22ple (already mentioned above) is the most effective, but I would have it applied by a professional, e.g. Andy (AudiOn19s) or Ryan (ForeverMaker), since timing and technique are really important IMHO. I use this product: http://www.amazon.com/Green-Earth-Technologies-01201-Shield/dp/B0016LEAZS/ref=sr_1_26?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1386344124&sr=1-26 which is not a cure by any means but cuts down the dust by about 50% and seems to make it easier to take off the dust that does stick. Although this product is advertised as a protectant only, it also works okay as a cleaner if you're taking the dust off with a cloth and not actually washing with soap and water. Cheaper than 22ple and you apply it with every wash just by spraying it on.
  11. If we get significant snow, and that's still a big if, I'd be willing to open the Hangout Friday night for a doughnut-fest in the side lot.
  12. I'd like epaulets on mine. I suppose you charge extra for that ....
  13. Yeah, I can see where the chance of revenge would be a concern for one's safety and one's family's safety. Sometimes TV reports pixilate faces or do other things to protect the identities of someone who is concerned about retaliation. In some cases, though, the identities of witnesses are part of the public record. I was just thinking that this was a great example of how this online community helped do something good. It seems as though the media is quick to come to CR when there is a tragedy connected with street racing and/or drunk driving. I think it's newsworthy that some clever cooperation got a man his car back and resulted in criminal arrests.
  14. For trap I'd lean towards a heavier gun, built specifically for trap, O/U, 12 gauge. For sporting clays I think you'll find a lighter, shorter 20 gauge more to your liking. I agree that if you get into these sports you'll quickly abandon the pump. However, you can use any type of shotgun to shoot any of these sports .... mostly it's a matter of whether you want to start with optimal equipment or whether you want to start inexpensive and trade up as you become more specialized in what you shoot. If you need to tryout a gun that your range doesn't have as a loaner, I've got a variety you can borrow: http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1514589&postcount=13
  15. Great job putting the word out, Andy. You da' man! Alex, if I may make a suggestion, if Nathan's so inclined he may want to think about contacting a local TV station about the story of how an online group of car enthusiasts helped foil this theft. It would be a great way to thank Andy and his men and CR could be in the news for something positive. Just a thought.
  16. TTT This is less than two weeks away. Put it on your phone calendar with a reminder so you don't miss it. I look forward to seeing the whole crew.
  17. Thanks for coming out. I'm beginning to understand how those games can be so addictive and can be time sinks for some people. Both Grand Theft Auto and Need For Speed were exciting to watch, I have to admit.
  18. You're always welcome, Chandler. And now you know what's inside those buildings.
  19. Well, it's not noon yet but I've already had four members text me about opening the Hangout. If you're interested in meeting somewhere for dinner earlier in the evening, feel free to post the discussion to this thread as well. The Hangout: Howald Industrial Park 320 London Road, Suite 101 (in Building 100) OPEN sign in window Delaware, Ohio I wonder if we can go back to smoking outside the entrance, using the smokers' station at the door rather than the shrubbery and parking lot as your ashtray. The garage last night got a little smelly for some folks and my request to "police your butts" was apparently too vague for someone. Questions/problems: Text me at 740-405-5565. All CR members are welcome!
  20. You're welcome. Lots of good times. Thanks to everyone who showed up, special thanks to Pat and Grant for PS and some games and to Sean for fixing the Beemer. There were a couple new faces tonight--I caught most of the crew in this shot although I can think of 3 members who had stepped out already. It was great we got to see Eman for a final time before his two-year ban from CR went into effect. :lolguy: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/Hangout11-29-13_zps81e4d637.jpg
  21. I think you'd enjoy it Paul, and I know folks would enjoy your company. One night, maybe a year or so ago IIRC, Hwilli, Mensan, and Not Brian all dropped in on the same night. It was like that historic occasion when six living Presidents were all together.
  22. No lines, no camping out, no rainchecks ... if you're just knocking around tonight, feel free to stop by. Four folks have already told me they're coming. If you're a Hangout Virgin, there's Foosball, 55" screen with XB360 games or movies if you prefer. Heated shop area for work on your car, but only basic tools available and no lifts. Please do not bring alcohol or drugs on the premises. A good variety of non-alcoholic drinks are provided free. You're welcome to poke around my cars, but don't expect a museum experience. No touching the motorcycles! Stay as late as you want. Restrooms are on-site. Your parked cars are within eyesight. The front door will open at 9 p.m. The hangout is smoke-free, but you can smoke in the garage (police your own butts) or smoke right outside the front door and use the smokers' station. Please do not throw butts in the parking lot or in the shrubbery. In case you haven't been there, here are directions: Howald Industrial Park 320 London Road, Suite 101 (in Building 100) OPEN sign in window Delaware, Ohio (across from the intersection of London Road & Liberty Road) the place is 14 miles north of Home Depot/Sawmill it is 1.5 miles from the large Jegs Warehouse at Route 42 and London Road If you are coming from Columbus, it's easy to just go north on US 23 to the first Delaware exit (South Sandusky Street, exit to the left but turn right on Sandusky St., then go about a mile and turn left onto London Road at the McDonalds. The place will be on your right just after the Delco Drive Through. If you are coming from Sawmill, go directly north on Sawmill Road until it ends at the Hyatts Road Roundabout. Turn right (east) on Hyatts Road, go into the village of Hyatts, turn left (north) on Liberty Road. Liberty road dead ends at the industrial park (turn left onto London Road, then immediately right, into the park). Questions/problems: Text me at 740-405-5565. All CR members are welcome!
  23. I would call MD Transmission in Delaware and ask to speak with Mark. He can tell you upfront what he can and cannot do and also what he would recommend. The staff there is top notch. (740) 363-0054 Tell them you need Doc's discount also (they are directly across from the Hangout).
  24. Thanks to the dozen or so members who came out. One last push to finish Need For Speed-The Run. Robochan-stop in sometime ... you might be surprised with what you'll see inside those buildings.
