I have a friend looking for a Holley 750 carb. If possible a double pumper with a manual choke. He's also looking for a Torquer 2 intake manifold for a 302. Let me know what you have.

I got rear ended in the girlfriends truck a few weeks back. We went and got two estimates, and I made sure the insurance company adjuster knew the price. The adjuster came in about $50 under the lower of the two and they cut her a check for $2800. We're going to fix it with used parts, and salvage some existing parts. We're estimating we'll have it fixed for about $700, including some damage she did when she rear ended someone else. So, all in all she is making out like a bandit.

I like to support site sponsors as much as the next guy, but for powdercoating I only go to Performance Powdercoating. http://www.performancepowdercoatingohio.com/

He at least needs a better welder, crank it up and get better penetration. I'm surprised the torque broke those welds like it did, must have been a shitty job, then again that car looks like its taken a beating. Nothing lasts forever and less when it's ragged on.

I like the idea of the floor jack and the breaker bar. As for cleaning I would be tempted to try simple green and a pressure washer, but you may force water into places in the motor you don't want water. For anything smaller than the block, I found the dishwasher does a good job, just make sure to do it when Angela is not around. Also, if you do, spray the parts down with some WD40 or other oil as soon as you take them out or they will start to rust in minutes.

Any electricians? Need power run to hot tub.
Richard Cranium replied to unfunnyryan's topic in Dumpster
I wired mine up myself, was not that hard to do and I'm terrified of electricity. Hell, my box was full, so I had to pull 4 breakers and install 2 double breakers to make room for the 60 amp for the tub and I got that done okay. I bought a 60 amp GFCI breaker with box to mount on my deck as the kill switch for the tub. That let me put a standard 60 amp breaker in my box. I couldn't find a GFCI for the box in my house. -
I've been intrigued by E85 since I started hearing about it. After watching the Horsepower TV episode about alcohol motors twice this weekend, it's got me wondering. Why stop at E85? I understand that running an alcohol motor on the street would be illegal because you're not paying the road tax on the fuel, and I'm sure the EPA has not approved alcohol for use on the street. Other than the legal ramifications, what would be the issues with running alcohol on the street? Obviously road trips are out of the question because there is nowhere to fill up, but are there any limitations besides the range of the tank? This is assuming a motor/fuel system has been modified to run alcohol. BTW, what caught my attention was HP TVs claim that alcohol was 2$ per gallon (assuming because no road tax included), along with the performance gains.

I'm interested, where are you located? I've been kicking around the idea of building a driving rig for racing games.
-
Of course it will cost the same, and I won't complain a bit if they let me ditch the front plate. Hell, I'd pay a little extra if it would get me out of the requirement to run a front plate.
-
same here

Page not found. I'm too lazy to go digging for the information, but obviously I support removing front plates. If someone tracks down an active link or email address I for one will send my support. Besides, the Impala is getting body work done now, I'd love to tell him to fill the holes in the bumper and repaint it.

I love my McLeod. The pedal pressure is almost the same as it was stock, but it grabs hard. I assume part of the expense is the fact you are also replacing the flywheel and master cylinder. Yeah it was expensive, but you can't disagree with the reputation. Do it once, do it right, and don't worry about it later.

Would love to go, damn school. I still haven't had the new RPM trans to the track yet.

Pre=emptive head gasket replacement?
Richard Cranium replied to zeitgeist57's topic in Tech and Tips
I would think that while it's out I would change every gasket I could. For that matter I probably would take the head to a machine shop and have it cleaned up. I assume at a minimum it could use new valve springs and oil seals, but you won't know any more until the head is off. Oh, and another +1 for Felpro -
Let me know when the work is happening and what tools to bring. I've been looking for an excuse to play with my welder.

Remote Start/Alarm Uninstall Places???
Richard Cranium replied to AC66Bronco's topic in Passing Lane
Pickups Plus did the installation on mine, I would trust Brady to remove one as well. -
I can use the driveshaft. If I ever get my car up and running again I'll need it. Sending you a PM.

So, the new motor is DONE!
Richard Cranium replied to atomicfusion1647545515's topic in Passing Lane
I don't think all filled would work very well. The coolant passages give some expansion room inside the block. If the block could not expand internally I assume bad things would happen. Unless you were going to tow it to the line, fire it up for the pass, and shut it down at the finish line then I think you have to flow at least some coolant to help get the heat out of the block. -
Shit, I was trying to avoid that. Well, it's all the way out now. I figured it was too far out of line to just man handle it back into place. I'm going to try putting it on my motorcycle jack and lifting it up into place that way. I'm not sure how much longer I can work out there today though, damn it's getting hot. I think I'll just go ahead and get the torque arm and drive shaft the rest of the way out too so they won't be in the way.

Sweet jesus. One of these days I have to get off my ass and come out to watch you race that beast. -
I don't have kids, but I'm a teacher. Not uncommon for me to have 2 at a time (for my limited class period). You do what you can, when you can. If you need to, you take it 1 minute at a time. Just don't give in when the kid blows a gasket. Kids are ALWAYS learning, special needs or not, they NEVER STOP LEARNING. If they learn that blowing a gasket will get them what they want (even once), then buckle up, it's gonna be a bumpy ride. I only have to work with them 2.5 hours a day typically, my heart goes out to the parents who have to work (and I do mean work) with them the other 16 when they aren't in school. Hang in there man.

Hey guys, I need some advice on getting this thing back in the car. It has been seeping gear oil since we installed it, so last Friday I had some time and decided to tear it apart and see if I could get it to seal up. I got as far as taking out the center section and failed. I got it far enough out that I can see the seal is good. I decided "fuck it, I'll just put it back in and see what happens". That brings me to this morning. I thought it would be a matter of shoving it back up into place, but I don't have the ass for it. I'm working on jack stands in the driveway. Every time I try and push it up in place it slides further out and is almost all the way out now. Who has swapped a center section in their driveway, and how did you go about maneuvering the 50 lb. center section in place under a car on jack stands? If it's just a matter of my ass being too girly to get it done, then I'll offer up $50 and beer to the manly man who can get it back in place.

I've always heard better reviews of the Loyed Elliot heads and cam setup than the LT4. Unfortunately as I found out 3k isn't as much to work with as it sounds. You can either do a bunch of bolt on's, or one big project. For 3k you might be able to build the stroker, but I doubt it unless you cut corners. I think a blower or turbo would be doable since the boost would have to be lower. You can do a built t56 and big boy clutch (but the rear end won't survive). I think my Moser 9 inch package was around 3k including the wavetrack posi, but as of right now I'm not recommending moser. If you haven't done suspension work, then you could do everything all at once, frame ties, control arms, panhard bar, torque arm and relocation mount, springs, shocks. You could do full bolt ons, Throttle body, roller rockers, long tubes, ignition, tune. There are a lot of options where you can put that money. But I think the blower sounds like the most fun.

Maybe I'll make this one.

Hell, I'd take any of the above. I can get digital cable through Time Warner, but not Roadrunner, so no reason to change from DirecTV. I'm using a 4G mobile hot spot for my house internet. $60/month for the speed of slow DSL, only less reliable.
