Interesting, more detail would me neat, but it is a dumbed down hows it's made

IT survived the 45mph gust wind storms we had last Sunday and all the rain too. It is pretty environmentally sound. I also drew it up in Google Sketch up before I built it. http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/Halloween/pillars.jpg

We had a Christmas decoration thread, how about some Halloween ones. I personally love Halloween. I made this entrance to my driveway the past 3 weeks. It is 11' tall and 14' wide. I wired a florescent light starter ($1) on the hot lead for each light on the towers, so they flicker constantly giving the illusion of a bad connection. Picked up the house lights from Habitat for Humanity ($10 total). I am in all this for about $230 plus my time, but it was fun to make: http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/Halloween/IMAG0087.jpg I started with a 2x3 frame: http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/Halloween/IMAG0064.jpg And covered it with foam. Then I sprinkled water on it and hit it with a torch, where there is no water it melts creating a rock texture as seen next to me: http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/Halloween/IMAG0069.jpg I carved out some tombstones and painted them up: http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/Halloween/IMAG0101.jpg Made 40' of fence from 2x6 ripped into 4 pieces and 1/2" conduit pipe: http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/Halloween/IMAG0113.jpg Took two random containers from the recycle center and added lights to them, hazard stickers and spray foam, for a toxic mess: http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/Halloween/DSC_8730.jpg http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/Halloween/DSC_8716.jpg http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/Halloween/DSC_8735.jpg http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/Halloween/DSC_8729.jpg http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/Halloween/DSC_8734.jpg From behind: http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/Halloween/DSC_8741.jpg http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/Halloween/DSC_8722.jpg http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/Halloween/DSC_8737.jpg

Awesome on the engagement. I got married 2 years ago and love it. How did she fall for your car breaking down? It is a honda, they don't break down.

Having been on that track many times, that is a tough spot to spin and not get hit. Looks like you had 2 options by the time it played out, hit him like you did or go more left into the grass, but risk flipping. It is always easy to watch a video afterwards and have opinions, but the reality is, everyone was ok. 14 years is a long time to have a race car. wow. Rear wheel drive in the future? Compared to my MR2, you get on the gas super late going into turn 9 (bottom of madness). It is interesting to see how other cars handle. Anymore videos?

What do YOU want from the car? Fast, turbo, reliable, new, older, handling, straight line, cornering? You want fast get a V8. Corvette, mustang, Camero, viper Handling get a Corvette, lotus, BRZ, miata, rx8,rx7 Unique, not a Corvette or mustang. Get a lotus, Porsche, viper, 300z Do you want new, Corvette, 370z or older 300z, rx7 Cars are about what you want. I feel like I own 2 unique, amazing driver cars with a MR2 turbo and a BRZ. Not the fastest car and they get hate on here, but fun as Hell to drive and you might only see one once a month on the street.

how the hell do you do a chase cam like that in RC? That was neat.

http://www.rockystar.com/home/math/images/kinetic.gif 30mph = X Energy 60mph = 4x Energy 120mph = 16x Energy Speed exponentially increases Kinetic Energy (energy of motion), that energy is what must be absorbed in a crash, either into crumple zones, trees, or the driver. Always wear it, physics don't lie.

Mark and Scott have great women. The rest of you suck. I got a lot of shit for the BRZ we just bought, but my wife wanted a red manual car. Here is a picture of her hotness with a hot car: http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/cars/DSC_8650.jpg Oh yeah, her winter beater is a 03 5 speed civic she bought new, and paid extra for the spoiler, yeah, I tracked that once too! http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/cars/IMG_1165.jpg She also mows the lawn too and loves it. We have a 61" 3 wheel ferris http://images1.americanlisted.com/nlarge/ferris_procut_s_hydrostatic_three_wheel_rider_61_cut_8199_mt_pleasant_15666_28020977.jpg And a 48" Scotts for the tighter spots: http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/cars/IMAG0022.jpg Sister rides this in NYC http://bossip.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/large_subway.jpg

They probably calculated that he would miss the free fall record, since he was going for speed, not free fall time. Probably hard to beat both.

His crew keeps giving him the wrong info based on the wind. What idiots!

Great turn out today! I did not take many pictures, and I did not take good pictures. Weather warmed up about 10. http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/cars/dmc.jpg http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/cars/alfa.jpg http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/cars/sign.jpg http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/cars/bluetruck.jpg http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/cars/brzmr2.jpg http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/cars/DSC_8689.jpg http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/cars/DSC_8699.jpg http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/cars/DSC_8700.jpg http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/cars/DSC_8684.jpg

I have always done track days through NASA, but want to do more. Any idea how to figure out what other groups run at Mid Ohio and other local tracks? I know people post days at Nelson Ledges on here, but how does one find that info out? Thanks

Bought it from Byers and Mannie was our salesman. Fantastic in terms of a salesman, he is a car nerd too who drives a Speed 3 and STi. He actually knew a lot about the BRZ. Sometimes his return emails took a few days though.

I will be there with MR2 AND BRZ!

AWD would have sucked up even more power from the engine. Easier to kick the ass end out. Car is a blast to drive. Amazing the positives and negatives made about it. The car is a great driver car, responsive, light, great steering and good suspension feel so far. It is a car that can be pushed to the limit without fear of killing one's self. Once you get a C6 to the limit, your going 80mph. Do more with less. There is a certain satisfaction that comes from keeping up with a C6 in the turns at Mid Ohio with a 22 year old 200hp MR2. Until you hit a straight :dumb:

I might be bias because I have never had a new car, but this thing is so much fun to drive, even under 4,000 rpm. I thought my MR2 was a blast! The steering ratio is awesome, seat feels great, and shifting has a great feel to it. Say what you want, but for a daily driver sporty car, this thing is a blast. What does your wife daily drive? This was more fun for me then a A5 and way more fun then a 370z. Oh yeah and I am getting 30.5 MPG with it with hard acceleration off the line! Rt 42 was closed and a detour took me here.. . racing gods are saying something. http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/cars/IMAG00751.jpg

Drove the car on a 3 hour trip. The car is a great driver car. Steering: tight, quick, and very responsive Tires: suck, they break loose easy on turns. Interior: love keyless entry and push start. Gauges are layed out fantastic and easy to read. The tach has a programable shift light too. Shifting is smooth and quick, very short gears Over all the car is a blast to drive. It gets looks everywhere I go. Most important the wife really loves it.

Thanks for the "women's car" comments, haters. I have not driven it yet, but will tomorrow. Talked about looking at a Miata, but too small and they are not unique. Wife is 5'10" and I am 6'4" and we both fit just fine, steering wheel teloscopes! #2 car would have been a 370z if I had my say, but she wanted the red A5 (manual) The Why Nots: A5 - not sporty enough for me, a touring car, heavy G37 - same reason CTS - did not fit, not a fan of wooden steering wheel, very plastic feel inside Genesis 2.0T - was slow for the weight of it, plus horrid sales person. 370Z - expensive for what you get, felt heavy and disconnected I am also comparing all this to my MR2 which is a great drivers car that has stiff suspension and handles fantastic.
-
I bring 3 gas cans with me. I get 30 gallons every time, pump shuts off. I might have to try the double card scan thing, although it seems like stealing, especially when our last fill up was $3.50 off a gallon. Imagine getting 60 gallons for that price!

Made a thread a while ago about my wife wanted a new car. She wanted: 5 speed Red sporty Unique Test Drove: A3 A4 A5 CTS Genesis G37 370z FR-S at a driving event Looked at a Lotus Mustang, Camero, corvette are a dime a dozen so they were out. We ordered a BRZ 4 months ago and picked it up today, on her 33rd birthday, great gift! Say what you want about lack of power, I wanted one and I am glad she picked a BRZ over a soft handling A5. No mods, no track for a few years until I get full custody of it. I have my track rat MR2 for that. http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/cars/DSC_8650.jpg http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/cars/DSC_8648.jpg http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/cars/DSC_8655.jpg I filled the car with helium balloons for her birthday before she took delivery of it! http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/cars/DSC_8661.jpg

I went with my wife and did the "lights on" tour. It is pretty neat. We are going to go back and do a flashlight tour. Clay took us around and showed us everything, it is awesome and creepy with the lights on, still jumped at a few of the pneumatic things. We are not ones for getting scared, but we love Halloween decorating. Thanks for the tour Clay!

I will be there.
