its strange really... IMO you often see a split on the right when it comes to the police. many people seem to strongly distrust the gov. when it comes to bureaucrats and regulators, but then put an inordinate amount of trust into the police. there seems to be a strong sentiment that the police need less supervision and less watching than other government employees for some reason. kind of strange, especially considering that police are given a fantastic amount of power over the people that they come in contact with compared to your average bureaucrat city council member or EPA paper pusher...

its strange that in a country where personal responsibility is held in such high regard, that we let people hide behind qualified immunity. if the roles were reversed, they'd be clamoring to prosecute the citizen. the thought that just because you get a government paycheck somehow shields you from liability is ridiculous and is contrary to the principal of equality before the law. if anything, the government should be held to a higher standard. until they are able to be held personally responsible for their screw ups (just like any other citizen would be), this kind of stuff will keep happening.

yeah, its not a safety inspection. they don't care about that. they just want to make sure that it is not stolen. what are you gonna do with this bike? do you want to ride it on state land? if so then you will def need the inspection and title. if you just want to ride around the yard on private property. you dont really need the title or inspection...

not sure such a thing actually exists, but BBC, CBC, Al Jazeera and CSMonitor (despite its name) are all good places to start. credible news with minimal spin. its kind of sad that we have to look to international news sources to get good stories about what's going on in our country. FOX is not a place to get reliable news. neither is MSNBC or CNN.

IMO thats what you usually get with police trade ins. often they are pretty dirty too... most cops only shoot to qualify every six months or whatever. and they are not meticulous about cleaning. occasionally you get a guy who likes to shoot, or someone who is anal about cleaning his gun (or his commander is anal about it)... but more often than not the police trades are not shot much, not cleaned much either. a good run through with some CLP and they are GTG.
