Been there once. It is a warehouse and not a very clean one - don't expect a brand new showroom with clean floors and what not. A lot of the bikes are definitely used - the sportbikes they had when I was there had some damage to them. Prices seemed a little high at the time, but maybe they are better. Not saying they are a bad place or anything, just don't expect a beautiful showroom - it's more like ASK in Grove City (well, worse than that). I'll look there again should I ever decide to buy an additional bike.

You sure skipped a lot of definitions: Fanboy :nutkick:

State Farm goes off of cc, not what kind of bike it is. This can work both for or against you. Many insurers use classes, and any class that has 'sport' in it usually gets the screws stuck to it. Everyplace I checked, Allstate, Progressive, Geico were all at least triple for liability, what State Farm charges for full coverage on my bike. To top it off, when we switched to them, our insurance actually went down almost $40/month even with the additional cost of the bike included vs. what American Family (our previous insurer) was charging without the bike. And the coverage was MUCH better (like 4 times the coverage we did have). They won't work for everyone - one of the reasons their rates are low is that they seem to be picky about who they insure. If you have at fault accidents or tickets, then they raise the rates accordingly because you are a risk.

Ohio wookie, Linux has run on x86 for years, also, but suffers, to some extent the same problems. Developers don't code for one computer architecture or another - bare metal programming is a lost art and most programmers simply don't do it anymore - primarily because it is not necessary - even game programmers who usually have to be more in touch with the underlying hardware than most. We write to APIs provided by the OSs, and all OSs have their own proprietary APIs which are incompatible. A program written for the x86 Mac won't run on Windows XP (and vice-versa) because it is incompatible at an API/OS level, even if the code is binary compatible for the chip. Hence the need for emulation layers, which have proven to be slow and buggy. Most houses have enough trouble supporting their software on the native OS (whatever that may be), let alone it operating through an emu-layer. ANSI C, which is supposed to be cross-platform compatible doesn't always compile nicely from OS to OS, even if they are on the same underlying architecture. Even Java suffers from this at times, and it is about as cross-platform as you can currently get. Having the Mac on x86 has done nothing, in my opinion, but make the Mac another 'white-box'. It should have the benefit of reducing costs and putting them in reach of more people, but, if you use Windows at work, as 90% of the world does, it doesn't make sense to Joe User to buy an incompatible computer to use at home. Remember, very few users view a computer as anything other than a tool to do work an send e-mail/browse the web. They don't have the time, nor desire, to sit down and learn a new OS, no matter how cool it is; especially one that requires they discard their programs and buy (or pirate) new ones. Sure you can dual boot, but they don't want to do that - they want it now. We are different in that we get excited about new computers and such, but most people don't, just like most people don't get excited about working on their cars like many of us do. My .02. I do think it is good that maybe someone will challenge MS because, frankly, they've gotten really sloppy with their design in the last few years. Not from a bug/security standpoint, but from a features (everything + the house and neighborhood mindset), and from a usability standpoint.

+1. Compared to everywhere else, I was already getting a significant discount. Simple fact is that the MSF should be taken by every rider. Is it necessary? No, but it is a very good idea, and it really is fun.

I was boning up on it this morning and I am in the very beginning stages of planning a trip down there and the Cherohala highway. Looks just incredible. Ironray, from what I understand, you want to hit The Dragon through the weekdays. The place is a mess on the weekends. I'm thinking leaving on a Sunday would be best and coming back home on a Thursday.

I'm still confused by this If more and more people love macs, WHY do they want to run the (inferior) Windows XP? I don't understand this. Everyone in MacWorld supposedly hates Windows XP, yet now, all they can talk about is how they can finally run it on their Mac. Everyone in MacWorld hated the 'evil Intel', yet everyone now seems to be ecstatic about OSX running on it. Sounds like it was a case of sour graps for years and years. Face it, with the release of intel-based Macintosh's, Apple has now become just another whitebox vendor - a Dell, former-IBM, or Gateway.
-
Yeah..they'll just be unstable drivers that are slow. This is what happens when you 'rush to be first' with a piece of software.

Looked up the specs on the MacBook and the ATI X1600 - impressive piece of hardware and it is priced competitively with other laptops in that range.

I always thought what made Macintosh's so great was the OS, not the hardware. BSD, Linux, Windows (multiple versions). Been there. Done that. Of course, can the Mac have all those operating systems running simultaneously...a la VMWare? Uhoh...think I found another thing a PC does better than a Mac.

Who is who in those pictures?

Let us know when and where the next time you go.

We were there yesterday. Wasn't much for Modulars - even body parts. Unless it was an 05+
-
No....now it's just a PC made my Macintosh. Just like a Dell.

Bikes welcome?

bump. Surely someone wants to do a landing from their front door? Make an offer. -
Looks like we just found one thing that a PC does better than a Mac.

Where and when?

Congrats! Nice wife you have (nice bike, now, too).

Mike, TJ - nice to see you again. Alex - nice to meet you.

Where does everyone meet up at? (try to put a face with a name)...

LOL. I had no idea. I haven't been down that way since they were in the process of tearing the bars out. People have been hanging at the 7/11 for years. I started going down there in 96. -
Puss. When did you get the XB12? Didn't you have a firebolt? I'm anxious to see that - haven't seen the 12R in person.

Mmmm...7/11 - anyone going to be there tonight? I might show up. It has been a long time since I've been there. What do you guys do now with all of the bars closed? Used to be we'd hang out there and pick up curb monkeys. -
I'm down, too. Let us know a time and a place. Are you sure tomorrow is supposed to be nice? I saw a forecast (read: guess) on Friday saying rain. edit: What is the plan? Riding around the city or hitting the twisties?

Women! Doesn't matter that the car puts down 1000HP and can run a 8 second quarter - 'Does it have air conditioning and power windows and an automatic? Is it cute?'
