  1. Usually too late. The herd has to be thinned somehow, I guess.
  2. That's OLD SKOOL there. Bleaching your clothes was something everyone did in the 80s. Maybe before that even... They are P1MP!
  3. Ben, you can already get two out of the three (XP and Linux) for a lot less than $500. Where are those MacOS discs so I can try it out on my Intel box.
  4. Let me know when you can come get it. You remember where I live?
  5. dump - 1 month old but still have the scanner and printer. Make an offer.
  6. ttt. forgot about the thread. make an offer. Powers, if you still want it for $25, I've still got it. I know that turbo could use a sumped system
  7. http://www.celestiamotherlode.net/catalog/images/screenshots/fic_startrek/Voyager_StarTrek__jestr.jpg Voyager FTW, bitches. Come on. You knew it was coming.
  8. 30% E85 + 70% regular should do it.
  9. Modern fuel systems are built to withstand 10% ethanol - rumor has it they can easily handle MUCH more than that. I highly doubt that 3 oz of acetone in 10 gallons of gas will have much effect on what rubber there is in the fuel system.
  10. I ran two tanks of gas with Acetone in it and achieved 23-24 mpg. I went back to using 'regular' gas and noticed it dropped back to around 20mpg, which is what I was getting before I put in the acetone. I'll be getting more acetone to see if it goes back up. 3 oz/10 gallons of gas. I bought mine from walmart in the 'beauty isle'. I think it was $1.00 or something like that.
  11. Had to go look that up in a lexicon someplace. The words have meaning, but just don't make sense in the same sentence...
  12. At the end of the MSF, they give you the riding test on their bike. If you pass, you get your M endorsement. Go sign up. You can do it online, I believe.
  13. O rly? http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/daemonhelp.php
  14. +1 - go with an open mind. I'm tempted to sign up again this year just for the hell of it. Also, you do not have to be riding with someone (another bike). No riding after dark, no riding interstates and in 'heavy traffic', and no passengers. Oh, and wheelies are always illegal.
  15. I have an HJC CL-14 that I got from Iron Pony for $130. Fits my head well (actually fits me better than the Arai or Shoei's do), and it breathes well. It is kind of noisy, but I wear earplugs, too, so it's not a huge problem. My only complaint is that it is somewhat heavy compared to other brands. I would like, at some point to buy a Scorpion EXO-700, and, if I can ever find it, a Roof helmet. I bought a balaclava to wear under the helmet when it gets cold - helps keep my breath off of the faceshield and the wind off of my neck. The Shoei I had before I sold my old back was a nice helmet, but it just didn't fit my head right. It would press against my jaw and cause it to ache and it also rubbed my ears and would cause discomfort there. Just something to be aware of. I noticed that even the new Shoei's still do this to me, so, I guess I just don't have a 'Shoei head'. I have a Fiieldsheer mesh jacket (with armor in in the back, shorlders and elbows). I've ridden with this jacket on in 40 degree weather with it's liner zipped in, and it was chilly. Above 50 degrees, it is fine. http://www.brocktoncycle.com/eshopprod_cat_333-16791_product_95180.Fieldsheer_Mach_1_Green_Mesh.htm I also have Fieldsheer textile jacket for when it gets really cold: For my hands I have some Alpinestars textile gloves. They fit well and protect my hands above 50 degrees and from all the debris on the road. http://www.ironpony.com/ironponydirect/productPagedetailsBrand.asp/ImageName/ASTARSMX6BL.JPG/Brand=ALPINESTARS/Class2/Gloves/Class3/Street%20Gloves-Mens/Class1/ I also have a set of kevlar reinforced leather gloves (forget the brand). They seem to breathe well but still keep my hands warm when it's cold. For boots I have a set of Nitro Matrix boots: http://www.ironpony.com/ironponydirect/productPagedetailsBrand.asp/ImageName/NITROMATRIXBOOTwomens.jpg/Brand=NITRO/Class2/Footwear/Class3/Street%20Boots-Womens/Class1/ I have yet to crash test any of this stuff. The important thing, when buying a helmet is to get one that is snug. When you fasten it, you should hold the helmet and make sure that it doesn't want to slide up and down or side to side on your head. If it isn't kind of tight when you put it on, then it is too large. Look for a helmet with a removable liner so you can wash it. What kind of bike did you get?
  16. Speed channel has coverage of it on Thursday or Friday (the 600SS and FX classes I believe). The Superbike races will be covered on the weekend. Formula 1 is also starting this weekend. MotoGP starts April 8th. World Superbike has had two races already, but won't have another one until April 23rd. It's good to be 'in season' again. EDIT: MotoGP starts on March 26th
  17. I passed my temp test everytime I got them (I kept going year-after-year). This last time, after getting my bike and having been out of it for 6 years, I got my temp packet ($22 as opposed to the $6.50 they used to be WTF?), and sat in the parking lot to read through the book, then went and took the test. It was as easy as I remember.
  18. I'm not following you. How is a 500/250 less controllable than a GSXR-600? I don't think you understand the nature of a modern 600ss. The fact is that you do not have any control over a bike at all when you get on one for the first time. All of those skills take time to develop, and it is proven that learning curve takes longer on a 600SS than it does by starting with a smaller, more forgiving bike. Or is it more about looking cool, as you cruise from place to place, and not getting 'looked down on' by the other squids? Check this out for what a 250 can do: http://www.pashnit.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1145 No matter what you do, take the MSF, be sure to buy at least a helmet, jacket, and gloves and wear them everytime you ride. Remember, sweat wipes off. Road rash doesn't. I would not recommend a brand new bike, no matter what you decide. You will drop it, and it sure sucks to have your shiney new plastics all scrached to hell. I know this because I dropped my brand new CBR600 a couple of times within the first few weeks of getting it. Once on my very first day.
  19. Wonder why the re-emergence of RWD vehicles in the last few years....after all...they suck...?
  20. That is a company out of the UK. The helmet is most likely not DOT certified, and if it isn't, it can't be sold here. You might be able to find them for sale on Ebay. I myself have been trying to find a Roof helmet.
  21. Chris - I gave these links in fooswinger's thread: cycletrader.com and http://www.sportbikes.net which has a 'Bikes for Sale' classified section.
  22. Neither of those bikes are what I would consider 'beginner bikes'. fooswinger, check the classifieds at cycletrader.com and http://www.sportbikes.net:
