being from the service side of things if you take care of your car then service contracts are a huge waste of money. if you ever use it you still have to pay your deductible so add $400-$500 to the $1500+ you already spent on it. chances are higher that you'll only use it for wheel bearings, water pumps, ect. that cost $800 or less and then you pay your $500 deductible and the warranty company pays $300.

if its this then fix it yourself. its hard work but not hard to do and will save you thousands. when i did mine it ended up saving me $11,500 based on the quotes i got.

you can try a pick and pull it out or a straight pick to wedge around the edge and bend it in enough to get needle nose pliers twist and pull it out.

Check to see if the vacuum line to the transmission is hooked up if your car is old enough to have one. It can cause all the problems you described.
