A close friend got married in Ocean Isle a few months ago. It was ok, not too bad. Every year my mother-in-law gets a beachhouse in Corolla, NC and a bunch of us go we always have a good time. Its very touristy so lots to do. Did parasailing last year and ATV (side by side's) off roading this year. And of course there's the beach and places to eat etc.. My brother stayed in Duck, NC just south of Corolla and he really enjoyed it. Seems like it was more geared towards smaller groups/families and very neighborly so you'd be able to find a rental or AirBNB there for sure. Have you looked into anything yet? I thought the standard was one week rentals not sure if you run into an issue trying to find something for just a few days? If you could find a BNB thats NOT on the coast they're significantly cheaper. I know you said you'd prefer no Outer Banks but I didn't really feel like we were all that secluded at all. As long as you're not staying North of Corolla where you have to drive on the beach to get to your house.

Doesn't crank or click like you would expect a dead battery. I'm leaning more and more towards the starter that I installed not even 10 months ago which is really fucking annoying. My tacoma is bare bones so I don't believe there is any security feature having to do with the key or starting the truck. The only security feature on the truck is the manual door locks.

In the last year I’ve replaced the battery and starter on my 08 Tacoma. For some reason when I turn the key absolutely nothing happens. electronics turn on (ac and radio) but nothing when I turn the key. I eventually sit there trying for 20 minutes and it will finally turn over. No idea why. Any suggestions? Could it be the (almost brand new) starter?!

Thanks for all the replies fellas. We're actually doing blue suits for the wedding (which everyone except my brother owns) so that's a huge cost savings over renting a tux. I never really liked tux's, despite getting fitted and measured I always felt like they looked like shit on me. The wedding is in town and only one groomsman is traveling but he's staying with his mom so no need for a hotel cost there. I'd like to spend around 50-60$ per guy, 5 guys so that's going to run me 250-300 with tax. Anyone think this is too cheap? I'm also looking at functional gifts that someone would actually value. Money clips are nice but none of them are "money-clip-guys" so not a lot of use there. I was thinking about these though ... https://www.etsy.com/listing/632643428/groomsmen-cooler-groomsmen-gift?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=groomsmen+gift&ref=sc_gallery-1-11&plkey=ff7ab783eb856fdba8cd408f4e55afcb064f815a%3A632643428&pro=1&col=1 seems functional, they all enjoy a cold beer so...

For those of you who have gotten them, what are the best ones you've received? Any ideas or advice for someone who's currently shopping for his groomsman gifts? I've narrowed it down to embroidered soft coolers with each guys name on it, seems like something useful but not set on it just yet.

First of all, holy shit 71 lbs thats awesome, congrats. My favorite exercise is playing hockey only because it doesn't feel like exercise at all when you're doing it. A typically skate I'll burn between 800-1100 calories depending on length of ice time, if its a game or a scrimmage. It also helps that hockey is an interval sport, you don't go constantly like soccer you have a shift then you get off, etc... If I could I'd skate everyday but i usually skate 3 times a week. I think the biggest benefit to hockey is that when I workout i workout with the goal of being a better at playing hockey. So it gives me a tangible goal that I can set and meet. If there's a certain transition or play I know I'm weak on then i find workouts to strengthen that exact thing. You don't have to play hockey, just find a hobby that's something active that makes you move. Softball, kickball, basketball, rugby (yes there are adult teams), swimming (an awesome, low impact workout), martial arts, boxing, that way you get in a workout without ever realizing you're working out.

Its Mike Millbury, use to play for the B's decades ago (one time going into the stands to beat a fan with his own shoe.... yes that really happened). He's a complete homer. Thankfully I've watched every game either in a packed bar with other fans or live so I haven't had to listen to him but my friends say he is relentless in his love for Boston. I don't so much mind if they don't know details about the CBJ but just pull back on the rooting for one time outright, it's not professional. I was at the game last night, I've been to a lot of games and it was by far the loudest game I've ever been to (however I didn't attend the game 4 sweep of tampa bay I have heard that was crazy). Marchand is a little piece of shit, league won't do anything and he makes them look stupid for it. Dept of Player Safety won't do shit either. What's worse is by retaliating and making him pay they'd be playing right into his hand so fuck him.

Damn sorry to hear this, hope he gets better. If there is anything we can do please let us know.

All great suggestions, thanks. Its city sewer. Typical suburbs drainage, house was built in the early 80's I believe.

So basically a make-shift drywell. I thought about this, seems like an option so long as there are no utilities under the backyard (I'm 99% sure there aren't) and depending how deep I would need to go.Plus side is I could avoid having to dig a trench to the street and at least then I could add in fill dirt and level the entire backyard since there's basically a giant well underneath of the grass. I'm going to check for old irrigation tiles from the orchard hopefully thats the issue. If not I'll have to get some price quotes from landscaping companies.
-
Not unless I do this: Seriously though, there's not way to that I can think of to create a low point away from the house and still have a backyard that's not a pond. Considering installing a french drain to the street, after seeing a few youtube videos looks like a lot of work but might solve our problems. Looked at a dry well but not sure that's really an option.

There really isn't. The closest "drain" is the storm drain in our culdesac. We back up to a park/nature preserve and the area immediately over the fence in the park always has standing water. One of our neighbors said he found drain tiles under his backyard from the old orchard that he had to dig up and destroy bc it was pushing water towards his house. This was new news to me and sounds like it could be the a source of our issues.

Holy shit you saw them set your nicer things aside then those items didn't make it to your new home?! WOW that's fucked up. So they basically stole it in front of you.

So we have a bunch of flooding issues in our backyard. Decades ago our whole area use to be an orchard so I believe that has something to do with it. Our sump pump is constantly working even when it's not raining and there's standing water in the backyard even days after a normal amount of rain which creates a huge mud pit and a giant temptation for our lab's to go for a swim during potty time. Who should we look to to remedy such an issue? Landscaping companies? Construction companies? My issue is even if someone could come out and level it all out and lay down sod or seed its just going to create a high point for water to be pushed more towards the house. Has anyone ever ran into similar issues? or done similar work? Was going to text Eric Schmelmer but it's Easter after all, no need to bother someone on a holiday. Add to all of that, we're getting married in October and really not trying to spend $10,000 on our backyard.

Kids bring a lot of shit with them. Carseat, stroller, etc... and if you're going anywhere for a weekend don't forget about the playpen thing they need and all of the other residual bullshit. Personally I'd go for space over anything else. Like you said the Caddy will be cheaper to work on and maintain than an Audi so the mileage shouldn't be a HUGE issues unless its A LOT.

One thing to add, I'm glad everyone was so elated to finally win a series. The team gets a nice long rest to get healthy for the next opponent, just kinda worrisome the language that was going around "we finally did it" etc... like, one series win isn't the goal, a Stanley Cup is the final goal. However unrealistic that may seem to some people its perfectly plausible. That being said, I think a lot of people would consider the season a success with a conference appearance and/or a conference win.

I've heard that argument a lot, its not the CBJ won its that Tampa Bay lost. Whatever. On to the next round. I've been to some playoff games, was at the OT game against Pittsburgh that Foligno won off a dump in shot from the point, that place was absolutely nuts. Can't imagine what it mustve been like for game 4. Had a chance to get tickets to game for a week in advance and kinda kicking myself for not doing so. Prices and availability have only gotten worse for second round.

There is an insert in the wood fireplace in the house we just purchased. My fiancee' wasn't too happy about it b/c she said "it looks ugly", i liked it because I knew it could offset some of the natural gas use in the colder months. Sure enough it works great at heating the most of the first floor rooms. I especially like that I can load it up and shut the door and not worry about it for a few hours. While I can do some thing's I think an installation like this would be over my head so I can really only comment on how much we like it and it works well for us.
-
Yes. Between me over fertilizing (and killing some grass patches), low points in the backyard that leads to water pooling, this god damn mole, and the dogs our backyard is trashed. It looks aweful. I was tempted to get sod and start over but that wont fix the backyard flooding issue.

My employer switched from an FSA to an HSA and its great. They only give $750 a year b/c I'm on an individual plan not a family plan. I use it for optometrist appointments, dentist, etc... and still save a bunch of money in it. In our plan if your balance goes over $3000 you can then invest it in mutual funds or some other investment vehicles of your choosing. And like someone said before, pre-tax money and if you contribute enough it can actually lower your taxable income. I have a friend that does this but I only contribute $20 a week. HSA you can roll over the balance to the next year, I don't believe you can do this with an FSA.

I don't mind it. But i guess that's a typical response right? Good pay and GREAT schedule really make up for the negatives in the job. When I first started a little under a year ago it was a huge transition and a lot of daily challenges. Just yesterday my boss gave me a compliment that I'm "light years" ahead of where I was so that's always nice to hear. All that being said I can totally see this position becoming monotonous in the next year or so. I told my self I would give it 1-2 years then move on to something else and/or move up to a different position.

We have an old wrangler collecting dust in the garage, we drive it once in a while maybe take the top off on sunny days. I drove it to work a few times and every time got at least one offer to buy it from us. As much as its "cool" I wouldn't let me kid drive one as a first car. Shitty steering and a high center of gravity are just not a great combination for a first time driver.
