Gotcha, 4k worth of Heineken and cheap cigars coming right up. I kid I kid.

I do have a 401k and a pension plan through my company. I honestly thought about investing in a Roth IRA years ago just never got around to it, if im not mistaken the annual contribution is now at 6k so i wouldnt max it out by investing the whole amount but it would put a nice dent in it. Your right in the grand scheme of things 4k isnt neccessarily alot of money but its a chunk that could get something started. As for the Jetta, its only a dd and its a nice, comfortable car but i dont like it. Ive been looking at buying a new car anyway but i just dont see investing this chunk of change into a depreciating liability when i can invest it in something that will actually gain value despite the fact it would free up a sizeable monthly bill for other use. As for debt, im happy to say within the last year ive paid off my one and only cc bill considerably so thats not really an issue. And for the season tickets, if my work schedule wasnt so rediculous I would've already purchased them. Im kinda surprised alot of people suggested an IRA. I was leaning more towards downpayment on a house.

Interested, any possability you can transport it to Dublin? I'd pay for gas.
-
When I was unemployed a few years ago i went through the same thing. Ive never worked out voluntarily so much in my life. I just had to get out of the house.

For $4,000. Its totally unexpected but apparently after my grandfather's death his house was sold and the profits to be split between his 4 children, long story short it trickle's down to me and each of my sibling's getting a check for about 4k, give or take. While this is great Im kinda wondering wtf am i gonna do with it? Most likely I'll just add it to my saving's account but if anyone has any advice (OTHER than spending it modifying a mustang!) feel free to chime in. So far Ive thought about just saving it for a down payment on a house or add it to the emergency fund. Maybe buying a cheap car and selling my jetta so i wouldnt have a payment (not too keen on this plan though). Or starting a Roth IRA? Oh and scotty, no im not spending it all on hooker's and blow, fyi.

Play hockey. start cheap with inline/floor or plunk down some money for ice hockey. Well, maybe hockey isnt your thing but its my thing. A few years ago I got into this nostalgia thing in doing the things i loved to do as a kid (ie playing hockey, riding bikes etc...) and decided i wanted to do it again. What did you do as a kid that you absolutly loved? Play a rec sport, softball, volleyball, indoor soccer, there's a novice rugby team in Cbus. if I didnt work the schedule I did I'd play. I already have two jobs so while Tim's idea maybe good for you i want to do something I dont feel like i "have" to do ya know? Goodluck.

Thankyou for pointing that out.

I agree, you can take the nicest, sweetest female in the world if she's sexually frustrated she wont hesitate to curse like a sailor about how she just wants to get fucked. "i want a lady in the street but a freak in the bed"

what?! really?! honestly I had more of a problem with #3 than anything else on the list. Im no prude but ive never been with a girl that couldn't supply her own .... um.... grease for the gears I suppose. Now #15, eh its ok i guess.

This is fucking bullshit. If the woman you are with is willing to use sex as some sort of pawn to dictate the relationship then you need to get rid of the selfish bitch! (Im not directly talking to you, simply stating a general fact) As for you guys who are content sitting back letting your wives control your lives, to each his own but as for me I know there will never be a day i cut off my balls and hand them over to a woman (no matter how much love i have for her) in a nice shiny brass case and say "thankyou honey for taking care of everything". The man needs to be the man in the relationship, end of story. I've grown up half my life watching my step-dad pussy foot around my mom because he's too much of a bitch to stand up for himself and always said I would never end up like that. As for the sex thing, someone had it right when they said you really need to open up the lines of communication and fast. I'll be honest in saying that after years of playing the game I've finally found a good decent women to stick with. We're not shy about saying what we both want and talking about everything, i mean EVERYTHING.

I havent read the other 2 pages but had to comment on this. In all seriousness Im not blowing anything out of proportion when I say I get head everytime we fuck which is basically everytime we see each other and that will not change. Its simple, I keep her happy and she keeps me happy. note: Im not talking about my wife, just my gf just an fyi. Maybe things get different after you take the ball n chain? If they do then thats just bullshit.

I realized something today, the Jackets currently have a better record than the buckeye's. Ouch.

It was good, the storyline seemed long but it definitly didnt drag out. good movie overall.

As for installing anything, programmable thermostat's arent terribly expensive and seem fairly easy to install. If/when I move out I could take it out and put in the old one. I was just curious if the saving of having the temp down for half the day out weighs the cost of running the furnace to bring the apt back up to liveable temperature. As for anything else, my options are somewhat limited because its only an apartment but I do have two huge sliding class doors so I'll probably shop around for some weather stripping and plastic and maybe some thick curtain's.

Good thing we saw Law Abiding Citizen instead.
-
So being only my second month in the first apartment I've had solely to myself I was thinking about doing a bit of winterizing? Maybe some plastic around window's, starting up the fireplace more often rather than using gas heat and installing a programable thermostat. Anyone else have any ideas i could use to keep bills down? After living with roomates my whole life and getting my bills that were regularly over 100+$ for each utility I received my first AEP bill of $26.20 and a gas bill for just $40.00, im a cheap bastard so I was giddy as a school child when i saw that. Just goes to show how much money was wasted on bills that were outrageously expensive. (mind you the apartment size's were nearly identical)

Cool, good to hear. Congrats.
-
I held one of these last time I was at Blackwing, I think they were on sale for sub-200$ but dont hold me to that, I do remember them being fairly cheap. The only times I dont carry are when its an inconvenience, if I bought a pocket pistol like this I'd probably always carrry. Mind if I ask how much you picked it up for?

Way to standby your team, LIVE THE DREAM!
-
Either way your just going to be flushing the money down the toilet so doesnt really matter where it goes right? Listen dude im just going off of what you post on here and I could honestly give to shits but since your such a baller and can pretty much afford anything why not just save up and buy an 03 cobra outright and not have a payment at all? Then you can TRY and justify you 500$ monthly insurance payments by reasoning that "hey, its like an insurance payment and a car payment all in one, BRILLIANT!"
-
Bullshit, i looked at buying a GTO when I was 23 and the HIGHEST insurance quote I got was only 110$ a month but im not a fucking retard and have an sr22 on my driving record, plus i dont even know what the fuck an sr22 is!?

I will never pretend to know much about Mustang's but overall I like the Mach 1's better. hey if your gonna spend that much on a car it better be a good looking car right?
-
I dont say anything to anyone about it unless they see it (which, obviously its concealed). The only way my current gf found about about it is when she felt it on my waste she wasnt surprised she knew i kept it on my nightstand anyway. I asked her a few weeks ago about it and she said she didnt care.

I dont think anyone's telling this kid any lies here. I think the older, somewhat wiser member's are simply trying to open the eyes of a kid that there is a whole world to waste your money on why waste it on a depreciating liability at such a young age? To me, all comments are made with the best intention's this would be a much worse site if everyone posted a comment egging him on to piss away his money on a car. Hey, im with the old guys in saying dont waste your money but I do see your point you want to enjoy your youth, understandable. My vote is for the Mach1 simply b/c i like them better than your average GT. question, if you make a decent amount working for AAA and say you can make back the 17k in 6months then why not do that? wait another 6months then have 34k to blow on your car? even better right?
