So whats your purpose? Home defense = shotgun (mossberg 500 or Remington 870) easily in your 300$ range. CCW piece? think Glock 26 or some sort of subcompact gun in 9mm, .40 or .45 If you look hard you can find one for around 350-400. Or do you just want a handgun to leave on the nightstand and occassionally take to the range? I would personally recommend any Glock 9mm. But there are guys who prefer the M&P guns, or the XD's. For a beginner (like myself) i'd stick to 9mm, at the very least shoot different calibers before you buy. If you look hard you might be able to find a good piece for 300, but honestly if you have $500 to spend your options are PLENTY.

My point is if someone were accused a more serious crime, say murder and they said "sign this confession or its an automatic 1 year in jail but after that year your ok", only to throw that confession in your face at the trial. The only part I might dissagree with is the automatic license suspension if you refuse the breathalizer test. The way I look at it, the test is simply to gather enough evidence for the state to convict you at trial. Why should there be a penalty at all if i or anyone else wants to refuse such test. If the arresting officer cant gather enough evidence with one of the many different field sobriety test's available and if its not blatantly obvious the person is intoxicated then maybe they shouldnt be arrested (I hate to sound like devils advocate).

Sorry I cant do it, the whole ALDI thing. Though I am fairly frugal when it comes to shopping for ANYTHING. If a product is literally .10cents cheaper I'll buy it over the alternative. But this is the way my dad was and for some reason Im kinda the same way. I havent purposfully held back on purchasing anything because of the economy. In fact Im working more and making more now than I ever did in the past. But I am saving alot more and not wasting my salary on stupid shit that I might have in the past. Going from 2 cars back down to 1 saved ALOT more than I thought it would have. Now Im shopping the Jetta around to turn it in for an even cheaper car, most likely a truck really. Thats the next big purchase. I try and pack lunch at least 4days out of the week and never hit up the drive through after work, though it is tempting. I do this more for health than money though. Other than a new car/truck my new few big purchase's will be 1. flat screen 2. good quality bed 3. Some new furniture 4. eventually, a house

Did you read the whole article? The way the conversation was said it left ALOT open to interpretation. She asked to see the tape of her speeding, he said "you'd have to take that up in court, its in a black box in my cruiser" then the officer started walking away. Now that could mean either "fuck off" or "here I'll show you" either way it leaves alot left to interpretation. However the way the officer acted afterwards doesnt look good at all. Only a few years ago I started "paying myself", or actually saving money and living below my means when I lost my job 2 years ago I was fortunate to have a few grand in saving's on top of what unemployment pays I was actually enjoying sleeping in every day while "looking for a job". Alas that couldnt last forever and believe it or not I started HATING being unemployed and wanted to be a contributing member of society. Im probably a month away from paying off my last and only credit card. The only opposing advice I would give from what Trouble Maker said was about canceling your credit card accounts. Your FICO score depends heavily on your credit history. By deleting credit card accounts your essentially deleting what you worked hard to turn into good credit history by paying off account to show no balances. I would say pay them off then dont use them. If its too tempting cut them up. Be sure to check if there's any annual fee's before you stop using them. DISCLAIMER: im not a expert this is just a small portion of how I understood what ive read about credit history and credit cards. Take it for what it is.
