I have a fucking problem lol. But in other news, the car went from meh....to YEAH BUDDY just like that. I am truly in love with this thing now. Only down side is its so god damn quite its hard to get a race! I did put a bus length on a early 2000's M3, and had a good run with a 2010 ish S4 with a temp tag. I ricer flyby'd him-he came up hard to do the same but I matched speed, and drove away quietly putting car after car on him. :)

I will be installing DIY airfitler(s), wheels and calling it good!

  2. Summit brand typically is china manufactured parts.

And I cant wait to see what it does at the dyno day! I am hoping mine is ready by then, but we shall see. Lots to do from now until then!

I'll be happy to have it drive there an pop the hood :) We will see what the dyno list looks like.

Clutch bled and adjusted, brakes bled. It was warm a few nights last week so I decided to try the full murder look.

I think Gloss may be better, but I will leave it for now.

Paint still looks great after a quick bath- but she does need a buff

And the current status of things..

The cam, super aggressive clutch, and lack of tune makes things interesting for sure. Cam surge becomes pretty violent in the drive train with an on-off switch for a clutch! But the brakes work, the trans shifts (and sounds quieter than last season, so my reshim may have helped!!) and the fans work-so we are ready for IC pipes and possibly exhaust!

  3. Make your turbo Drain at least -10 if not -12. Different companies make flanges if you need one. IE OCD works makes a quality billet drain extention.

Also if you bought a hurst line lock, there are provisions for multiple brake lines. When you have ebay knock offs, they just do one line at a time. And I recall going for fittings a few times to get my line lock installed.

Keep it up! Dyno day is coming! I expect you to be there!

I will be there! Not sure if I will be ready for full Jam passes though. :)

I considered T'ing off the Line lock, but from a volume of fluid flow and proportioning standpoint, I didn't want to F with it with 4 piston fronts. Also, I bought 2 for the 4GX7 back in 2007 LOL.

I actually bought them form summit- there where no china options available at the time.

  4. I have been working on the finishing touches to get it back on the ground for a test drive. Everything goes well I will then work on IC plumbing and the exhaust.

Slid the CHRA in, and made my feed and drain lines. The drain needed some massaging since the hole is so damn big. I made a flange to make it work.

Filter is temporary. I will be building something with a nice bell to get maximum airflow to the compressor.

First issue-BRAKES. My master cylinder was bad last year (was going to the floor on hard braking-fluid on the firewall) so I figured may as well install line lock while she is all apart. I have had a set since 2005 I got in trade-they were both locked up. With some PB blaster and a jump box I was able to get them working again. The Rx7 has 2 separate front lines out of the master, so 2 solenoids are required. Now I don’t know what idiot made these things-but they are NOT faired to accept a brake line. I learned the hard way!!! Nothing like doing the job twice. You have to get 1/8 NPT to brake flare adapters. I used some JB weld for good measure.

Brakes feel better than ever now! Once that was done I tackled bleeding the clutch. I fought with it for a good 20 minutes-it just refused to have any kind of pedal. Also noted it would not pull fluid with a vacuum on the bleeder. Odd. I ended up removing the master and bench testing it. It seemed to work as it should. I put vacuum to just the line, and POP-out comes the fluid. Must have been a clog somewhere! put it all back together and an hour+ later I have a great pedal and the clutch fully disengages as it should.

As a note, I am and have been using the stock Camaro Unit. Nothing like free.95!

Should be on the ground for a quick test drive by next week. :)

  5. Thanks guys

    Nice Saab 95 aero.

    The Hate!

    Honestly I would keep looking.

For whatever reason BMW (5x120) wheels are CHEAP when used. You will be able to find a set of BBS 19 or 20 for $700 or reps for $400 with tires.

Your not too far off. Issue is, everyone on C list either sold cheap and they are GONE, or thinks they need $1500 because they were dumb enough to buy real M wheels for $4500 form a dealer. There is no real middle ground, and I'm impatient!

Also I have a set of 245/40/18s that were given in a trade that are taking up space. Thats influencing the decision as well.

  6. My wife was cited for failure to control on 315, hit the wall on the riverside curve as the bridge was iced over. CPD shut down the freeway and called in a truck to de-ice the bridge, deemed it unsafe for travel. We fought and the officer never showed, also we sat and watched several people didn't show for their court date, and were immediately issued a warrant. When it came time for us, they told us to sit by and give time for the officer to arrive. I said absolutely not, I move to dismiss. It was granted and we still had to pay court costs. Bullshit that they were gonna have us wait for their benefit, and the public didn't get the same consideration. We did not get a lawyer.

She has NO citations and had to pay court cost?

    That makes no sense,

  7. Updates are slow and progress has come in short bursts with the limited time I have for the car, but I made some big steps today after the fam left from Easter brunch.

In the last few weeks I have

Installed/filled trans (redline MTL with a quart of shockproof) Installed rear subframe/diff/filled diff with half havy shockproof half Redline 75-90

Mocked up/improved/finalized hot side. Wrapped all pipes-installed. 2.25 with a flex on the pass side. The spare alternator bolt point was perfect for a brace!

    And most important-first fire! Video

This is a SBE 5.3 with an unknown (see-garbage picked) Cam. All I know is it was described as "had some pop" from the previous owner. Certainly sounds better than stock!

  8. I've been looking at these again because I am selling mine. It's funny every. single. one. I see for sale has the caution triangle light up for some little quirk. It was a good day when I finally fixed all of mine.

Turbo car? Auto? Ever change the trans fluid?

I had a caution light for a day, but it went away when I aired up my tires. :p

  9. Still haven't mentioned how many miles is on the car.

    Littlle over 100k

Looking that sharp, and at that price, I wouldn't care if it had 200k miles on it. Very high miles on an eight year old car looking that good would just tell me that they were mostly highway miles. And I would prefer that over a 50k mile car that was short trips/city miles.

    Nice score, JP.

    Thanks.

There is something to be said for that theory, and its something I have to think about every day. My drive to work is a bumpy 12 minutes via city streets with at least 15 lights, OR 16 minutes with one light and zero bumps via the highway. Although the highway puts on more miles-I am confident the suspension alone would last 5x as long if I only took the highway route. Add in stop and go wear on an engine, and brakes "highway miles" is a true consideration. That being said I only take the side streets if I have to stop at the store on the way home.

You Cbus guys are spoiled-some of the bad roads up here are like the ace of the fucking moon!
