  1. Under 10k for that? Jesus lol. Very nice car especially for the money

    Thanks! Im happy with it.

    In b4 flips.

This one is a keeper. :)

And in truth you can have your own for less! I actually drove this car. Cheapest in the country with a clean carfax. But it was not nearly as clean, I was not in love with the color combo- and it needed some front end work at a minimum. but-turbo car-no check engine light-clean car fax- its a killer price even if it needs a few things. Probably the first time in my life I did not opt for the cheapest option.

  2. Good choice. Now time for an M bumper and a jb4

Looking at bumps and lips-but down the line. Hard to warrant spending money on a bumper/paint with a car this clean

Wow, amazing you can get $60k worth of 8 year old bmw for $10k in that condition. If only the M3s and M5s depreciated that bad

You can get M-Package 335 and 535i's for a deal if your quick to the trigger. Same looks-and a flash away from the same (or better) performance and a full M car.

Now buy a roll of carbon and spend an evening never looking at wood grain again.

    18419041010_4e19295711_z.jpg

Looks great! But I really like my wood trim color. Very classy IMO

Great buy JP, IT NEEDS WHEELS BAD :)

if I could do it all over again, I probably would have gone with the 535x as you can actually get more car for less than a 335. I purchased the Cobb AP for mine as I was more comfortable with a flash than a piggyback. If you're in Columbus and want to fell how it drives let me know.

Fo sho. I have a buddy going to a JB4 that will be unmarrying his Cobb this week. Trying to get it for a buck-fiddy ;)

TON of car for under 10k.

I agree with the person above, it desperately needs new wheels.

Nerdiest wheels ever. Sucks the AWD has different offests so M wheels (and great RWD on the used market) wont fit. But, wheels are on the must-have list

damn, congrats. that's a steal. in for pics of you with a tucked in pink polo shirt, sunglasses, and that bmw hat. no homo

    congrats though, good looking car

Thanks. I'd do it, but I dont do selfies. ;)

I will say time will tell if the horror stories are real with maintenance time and cost with the N54. I have owner several BMWs before, and never had to do anything more than basic maintenance or suspension work to them, but they were not direct injection twin turbo cars! I may get fucked-who knows! My CTS-V cost me about $59 a month to own with depreciation and repairs factored in. I'd love it if the BMW stayed around there after 3 yeas of ownership.

I will be honest with any updates/issues I have with this thing as time goes on. Already planning on a hack CAI as anything on the market is super expensive, or super generic.

  3. And the winner is-

    http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/IMG_20160321_195655437.jpg

08 535 X drive w/ Sport pack, Dakota Leather, Moonroof, Ambient Lighting, Nav, Cold Weather, comfort access. Sticker was 60k LOL. This was my favorite car of the bunch I test drove. Not the cheapest, but I got them to come under 10k, and they just put HPFP, injectors, coils and plugs on the car. It literally runs and drives like a brand new car, and feel much more engaged than the F10 (2011+) 535 I drove.

One of the reasons I love it-mint sport interior and dark wood trim. Sport seats are basically fully adjustable Recaros. Once I sat in these, it was hard to sit in anything else.

    http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/IMG_20160322_095116089_HDR.jpg

Also forced them to give me some free shit. Why not right?

    http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/IMG_20160322_094844678.jpg

And as gay as it is, one of my favorite features. So unique

    http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/IMG_20160321_213950054_HDR.jpg

Appreciate everyone opinions! I think the next runner up would have been a Sabb 9-3X Aero for sure. Can wait for thing expensive to break on this thing! LOL

  4. JP driving a BMW Sedan... now I've seen EVERYTHING.

I've already owned 3! But they were all flips-so its not the same :p

5 series will be the best option for a quality vehicle, but is going to nickel and dime you over the years.

    All give and take.

Agree. I am 100% sure the Sabb would have a lower cost of ownership.

  5. Saab 9-3 turbo X.

Turbo. Awd. Different, rare and cheap.

Great option, I don’t think I would be happy with the power- and the fit and finish is very GM. For the price-point-its probably the best AWD sedans car on the market. Matt@Sweedish says they are solid, reliable cars but fall short on fit/finish/comfort. Very utilitarian.

535 will put you under the radar a bit, can be awd, and has power potential, I get it completely. That car was cheaper than I thought it would be

Got to take advantage of good ol' BMW depreciation.

  6. I think you'd be able to drive a v in the anything but the deepest snow with the right tires. Simple boltons puts you deep in the 11's, even 10's. Interior, fit, finish, and style are great. And it's an Ls motor, so there's good reliability and tons of potential

You know what I say every time I see a 3series or 5series bmw???

    Absolutely nothing

That is fair. Im kind of OK with that though. Not looking to shock the world-just get to work and fell somthing when I mash the gas, and stay under the radar if I pass the occasional smokey at 85mph :)

If I want to cause shock and awe, I will just drive the RX-7 to work :)

  7. I think you'd be able to drive a v in the anything but the deepest snow with the right tires. Simple boltons puts you deep in the 11's, even 10's. Interior, fit, finish, and style are great. And it's an Ls motor, so there's good reliability and tons of potential

Not local-out a full M-Packege without the coslty problematic drivetrain. Cant get a CTS-V right now for twice that, and the only area the CTS-V would trump this thing is power.

  8. No need to mod mine. Even when I'm driving mine reasonably, it feels to me like I'm the one in that video. Low to the ground and with the open cockpit, the excitement multiplies.

    Bingo.

Drove one locally, fast? No-but its prettly close to being on a 600 with R compunds in terms on "Im going to try an drag knee at every corner"

  9. Another option that is big enough and done losing money is the 04-06 Cayenne Turbo. 450-500 hp and chipable. You can even get them with a hitch.

Nobody gets a hook up on Porsche parts prices. Everyone gets fucked!!

If you;re looking for a cheap "luxury sedan" for DD use, just snag one of these.Turbo diesel, good MPG. Reliable.Just find one with better miles, than this turd.. E320 CDIhttp://www.ebay.com/itm/Mercedes-Benz-E-Class-CDI-/191825246001?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2ca9acf731:g:jV0AAOSwezVWwlAG&item=191825246001

I randomly drove one local. Motor was loud (expected I guess?) Interior was ok, liked the wheels. Felt slow compared to the N54, and Im not sure if there are good tuning options to turn them up? Great suggestion though. Only other thing is I am really looking to stay AWD-if I let RWD come into the fold I’d probably just wait for the right CTS-V

I can't talk you out of a 535xi, it's a pretty damn good car for what you need it to do. And you are right about audi's murdering people with maint, although the A3 I have has been pretty good (to be fair I do a lot of preventative maint).

I helped a buddy to a timign job on his V8 S4. 6 horus later, I left, job was 55% done, and said Id never buy an Audi!! LOL

I'd say good luck finding a well taken care of model that will get to 300k-miles without you getting nickle and dimmed to death. Love the cars but they just aren't going to last that long IMO without some cost. .

If you can find one for $10k and under that's CLEAN go for it, but I think you'll spend way more than that over the few years you own it. I'd buy something that costs a little more but will be newer, less miles, etc..

I agree to a point. I have driven a few 535's now and although more expensive than the others, there is one that has always been dealer serviced and it stands out above the rest in every aspect. It looks, smells, and drives like a brand new car. Literally-not one squeak, rattle, shimmy, speck of oil anywhere, freaking nothing. Maybe the dealer does do it better?

    We may have a winner.....

  10. My brother in law just bought a E60 535i per my recommendation. His only regret is not buying one sooner. He absolutely loves it and he spends about and hour and a half each way to work everyday.

The car has good power and Bolt ons and tune really transform the car. It has a timeless design and truly stands out, something the newer bmws lack I think).

    .

I agree. I dont like the F10 front end, and that the back just looks like a older 335i

I think you've done a great job of narrowing down exactly what you want. I don't see why that wouldn't wok for you.

Only other thing I'd suggest considering is E55 or E63. Will be more difficult in the snow than the awd 535 though and you'll be dealing with a slightly older car. They've still aged well in my opinion and don't come off as 10 year old cars to most.

You're correct on the 14 bimmer...they are awesome looking cars but you will no doubt take a bath on it with a 3 year hold.

    I will look into it!

On another note - the 640i Grand Coupe is one of the nicest looking sedans I have ever seen. I was drooling over an M6 a few weeks ago - white with dark gray wheels. So sexy

You simply cant touch this in a 4 door. I mean, just LOOK AT IT!!!

    http://www.motorward.com/wp-content/images/2014/08/HRE-Gran-Coupe-0.jpg

It just screams luxury, money, sex drugs AND rock & roll!

  11. y. I think your E60 can be a 300k mile car as long as you keep up on the maintenance and probably won't be that bad maint costs. Don't get me wrong though, if you have a failure of a major component it will be cheaper to just throw the car in the gutter and go buy another.

Double post....but as long as I have the space...

Have you considered a 335xi? Same engine as on the 535xi but in a much lighter more chuckable package. The E90/f30 cars are actually bigger than the old e34 5 series cars and interior wise I would put them on par with the e39 in space and comfort. It's not going to be as fancy as the five and it will still carry the stink of "starter BMW" even though it is no longer in that space in the lineup (1 and 2 series filled that role), but really it's a solid car and really sporty for what it is.

Yes, I checked out a 335i. It is much larger than the E46 I had, but the interior finish is much nicer int hre 535, and the extra room is nice. Also, the "stink" of the entry level is real! Sorry Linn! :)

I agree on all points- and I think the only issue for the current BMWs is the "lifetime fluid". I spoke to the tech at the dealer my buddy works at, and he has 310k on his 07 535i- He changes the trans fluid every 75k. Trans have never been out of the car, and the car has been on a flash for the last 100k

Linn's 335i rolls out with the intake and reflash mods he did. I've been looking at 535 wagons a lot for a DD. A 535xi or 335xi has to be the best sub 20k DD you can buy right now.

Yup- Intake/flash/DONE. And the Wagons are nice-but hard to find and I actually like the sedans body line better.

I haven't looked at prices but what about an Audi c6 S6? 400+ hp v10 is hard to resist. I imagine they aren't easy to find due to rarity, but it sounds like a lambo when you roll through the hood.

I have never, and I mean never, seen an Audi besides the OLD ones that didn't murder the owner with maintenance charges. Timing belts? LOL.

Audi under $10k? Not sure I'd trust what's left of it if it's price is that cheap.

Bingo. I'd trust a 10k BMW over a 10k Audi all day, every day

  12. I went from a CTS-V to an E60. Clients think it is nicer than it is. Never let me down, but it's had its share of small electrical gremlins you can shoe away with a programmer (~$80). 08+ have nicer interiors. I like it, but less than 12 months in and I'm bored. If I wasn't starting a company I'd be all over a few year old Alpina B7.

Yes the 08+ I have for "testing" is very nice inside- really as nice (in some respects nicer) than the F10 I took for a day.

Did you have a Cobb or Jb4 on yours? Turbo car I assume?

If your looking for the pure cons about it there are not many outside of like stated the maintenance and cost of parts. At some point every BMW leaks coolant and oil but if you keep your eye out and fix the items needing repair when they start you will be just fine. Does it have I drive? I still hate that crap as a form of entertainment interface

Yes. I have read the complaints-I have no issues with it. Maybe its just user-error? Its 1000x easier than CUE

Stay away from a DD that you will want to mod is my only advice. It sucks the money away from your true toys and, eventually, you will mod it so that it sucks as a daily. .

I drove a JB4 only car and was super happy with it. Considering the Rx7 is a tune of the key away, I dont think I will ever take it it farther than a tune, and a set of wheels. My was happy with my CTS-V for 3 years with an intake, tune, and muffler delete. And for reference the Jb4 535i put a car and a half on me 40-140.

  13. Things are starting to take shape!

Took the trans apart for inspection. You know you are making some steam when you put enough load into the main shaft bearing race to deform the shim behind it!! Talking to Tick-they typically see this with 1200++ whp cars. All of the gears looked good with the eye ball test.

Motor and Trans back in!!! Now for turbo placement.

    Details on turbo coming later.......;)

Whats your opinion- A or B? I like A for simplicity but it will be almost impossible to fit a full 4 inch DP. B gives me unlimited exhaust options-and direct shot for a CAI

  14. These thread typically start the other way-but talk me OUT of buying a E60 535xi!

    Criteria-

TRUE DD. Great for winter. AWD preferred but not mandatory

Fun. If its not a sports car, it can pretend to be one

Auto. Needs to be wife-on the go- friendly

Kid seat approved-the need leg room to! 4 doors preferred

    Power-Coming from a CTS-V- 300hp won’t cut it.

Upkeep-I don’t want to work on it much-but I can do ti all myself-so this is a debatable factor. If I can turn a wrench and take it to 300k miles, I'll take it!

ADULT car-I take clients in my car-cant be a tin can rice box

Resale-I hate losing on a purchase! Goal is 10% or 3k (whichever is less) or less cash loss in 3 years.

Price point-does not matter as long as the residual is there.

The CTS-V sold randomly (cash is king after all)-so I am in the market for a solid replacement. I loved the caddy-but I hated that I could not realistically drive it in the winter. With snows-it still sucked. Traction control was useless.

    How I ended up with a E60 (2007-2010 5series) 535xi

    1) Turbos- duh! Cobb or jb4 and I am at 360+whp. Add a few other goodies and I am sniffing 400whp

    2) AWD/Auto is seemingly bulletproof in these carts. Great trans programming to boot.

    3) Fun- read below!

    4) Pricepoint. You can get very clean examples for 10k and under. WTF?

    To date, I have driven

    2010 GS350- Put me to sleep+plastic interior

G37x- I liked it-but I would get bored with the power

F10 535 (2013) very nice interior, but MAN they made it feel like an NA car. Hard to explain. suspension is super cushy...maybe too cushy?

    Ford Fusion. LOL

Ford Taurus-Felt Like a tank, looked like a tank. Its a FORD just does not scream "luxury" was not a good fit for me

2009 CTS-V love the car-but not convinced this would be any better in winter. Prices seem to be falling fast? I struggle with this one!

2014 640i Grande Coupe. FUCK-best looking car. Biggest Price tag-to afraid I'd take bath on it in 3 years

2009 535xi- Nice interior- newer Nav works better but its not a deal killer. Sports seats are a MUST have. Felt tighter-and more responsive than the newer F10 car. You FEEL the turbos. Harder to explain, but much more fun to drive.

Im open to other recommendations! GO :)

  15. Thats got to be a heck of a feeling to be hauling ass in a Lamborghini then "Passing" a stopped car only to look over and it's still right next to you. lol

And it has to be satisfying having a full fucking race car match your pace, and then NOT be able to come around you while your getting your blow job and sipping your start bucks! :p

All while your shit was turned down!

The reason this motor was so cheap from the junkyard is it was in a fire, and I negotiated the price baised on havign to replce all eletrical sensors (none of which I was using anyways. Manifold and most of the wiring was intact so it could not have gotten that hot, but the motor was failry crusty

    Crusty-
