  1. Hey guys I need your opinion. I am having an argument with my wife about what would add more value to our home. Our house is a 3 bedroom 1.5 bath 2k Sq ft house with laundry upstairs. All bedrooms upstairs. The main bath is upstairs and is the size of a bedroom. The lay out is, bath, laundry room, master bed. Other 2 bedrooms are on the opposite side. I want to create an en suite for the master by turning the laundry into a master bath and turn the large bath into a smaller full bath and laundry room.

My wife wants to turn the large bath into a bed room and then turn the laundry room into a small bath and small laundry room.

Keep in mind we can add a bedroom in the basement in the future if need be.

moving laundry into the basement is not an option, my wife does too much laundry with 3 kids.

for those wondering, the bath is ~10.5ftx11.5ft and the laundry room is ~7.5ftx11.5ft

    Your both right.

Updating the bath is the best thing to do in your case, but adding ADDITIONAL Baths and Bedrooms is the best way it increase resale value. Also-there is a 95% chance that bed room you wan to add in the basement will not be a "legal" bedroom according to the MLS and will not give you any value.

  2. I haven't paid more than $1 for a phone in about a decade. Latest and "greatest" comes out? Cool. Time to upgrade to the last version for a buck. Never had a prob.

I do the same, but people make it seem like that is now a thing of the past?

  3. Se/ pl? I should have clarified, my son is hoping to get a tax refund of some kind. Is he entitled to a refund if I claim him or would he get more if he filed alone. I only worked2 months last year and my wifes cake shop went in the negative as she was dealing with her cancer stuff all year. I earned what I feel is enough for the earned income credit which I am hoping to get but I have never met the requirements until this year. I dont itemize if that means anything.

You should honestly just hand your paperwork to a CPA, or at minimum someone who works for an HR block type outfit to have the "which way is better" question answered. It about impossible to answer that without seeing everything.

  4. Claim the kid. No brainier. Also it sounds like he lived with you full time? If he was in HS he is considered a full time student no matter what he made. If you get audited, that's a transcript away from proven.

As for your S/E income, its not income until it his your P/L. Also, none of your income matters until EOY anyways when the write off party begins and you pay against whatever your net ends up being on your Sch C (if you file it there)

  5. You read that wrong. 46mpg rating times 13-14 gallon tank 600+miles or more etc per tank

Numbers still don't make sense unless your hyper-mileing

There is NO way you get from Denver to the other side of the Rockies at 40 anything MPG. But either way I'm sure it was cheaper and more"rewarding" then flying. :)

  6. DO IT!!

And I *think* these can be converted to AWD fairly easily.

    1. Buy Gallardo

    2. Add pair of on3 Billett 67's

    3. Buy Tym a steak to tune it

    4. ??????????

    5. Profit

    :gabe:

Fixed;) Crazy to consider you can get these for used GTR pricing.

  7. As with many of you, I lived at Advance Auto Parts with at least 2-3 visits a week. Within a very short timeframe - especially relative to my lack of technological expertise - I've shifted nearly 100% to buying parts online. Shipping is as fast as I could want it to be, given a busy family/career schedule, and of course the price/choice spread can't be beat.

However, on Cleetus ('82 Ford F100) I still have a starter and power steering pump that I bought in 2012 for cheap, but with a lifetime warranty. Recently, the PS pump started whining like a bitch, but it still works. Really need to get the belts replaced also...

I went just now to Advance on Bethel, and chuckled to myself as it had been forever since I was there. The guy at the counter was very nice, and said that they converted software programs and lost records more than 2 years old. He said it would've been difficult to retain everything given the extremely large amount of parts purchase info, which I appreciate. However, the $29 part is now $40-$57, and they don't have a record of my "lifetime" warranty? The counter guy gave me a handwritten note saying that he'd honor the return if I bring in the part.

I thanked him, saying that if they couldn't honor the warranty for the exchange, I would've just gone with RockAuto. He said "Oh yes...I know that all too well." Which got me thinking.....

There will always be a need for parts stores as long as we are all owning our own cars, but has the activity at parts stores dropped off significantly? Do online retailers like Amazon and RockAuto killing the retail parts industry? Curious what the numbers look like...

Commercial account will always keep local parts stores open to some extent. People will always need cars fixed and stores will always need parts same day.

As for parts counter guys, its a joke these days. I had the store manager at a local Autozone (yes, the top dog there) try his best to convince me that if I did not buy platinum plugs for a 98 Rav 4 that it will likely cause permanent engine damage. Thats direct quote.

I think a lot of the problem likes int heir HR and hiring methods. They hire any bum off the street even if they have zero automotive experience so they can pay McDonalds wages and keep their margins high. I have seen this at AZ, Advanced, and Murray's around town. The only places you can seem to find good advice and actual help are the smaller non-chain parts stores.

I found this out first hand-I worked part time for AZ when I was 19, was offered a full time manager role in 4 months, and was the store manager 5 months after. I was the youngest store manager in the district by a mile. My store did great because we had a legitimate repeat customer base that came seeking our opinion/expertise. But, after seeing basically a slap in the face of a raise the next year, I re-evaluated my position and the company. I found out that if I stuck it out for 10-15 years, and did exceptionally well, I may be able to be a Regional Manager and make 60-70k (mind you, there was about 60 people ahead of me for that gig). I resigned, and made more the next year Bartending 2 days a week than I did as the freaking Store manager.

Long story short, Amazon is not the reason big box part stores are dying, they are. They are set in their ways- and the guys at the top only look at the metrics-the numbers, and have ZERO idea what is actually happening in there stores.

  8. Negative. I use the front oil galley. Its where the stock oil pressure sensor goes. I have a Tee fitting out of the stock oil pressure sensor location with my turbo feed going out the top and my oil pressure sensor on the bottom of the Tee.

Seems to work well. Plenty of pressure and it keeps the line away from being heat soaked. Previous owner had this routing, so when I bought the car, I picked up misc parts from him, and this was one of those parts.

If that is a copper or brass T- watch for vibration related cracking. May not be an issue with a show pony that does not see much seat time ;) But I have seen them break on more than one occasion ;)

  9. If we are picking other places than trails, I'd rather take Norwalk or Quaker. Better prep and no bullshit hump in the middle of the racetrack to make you break traction.

    In my book:

    Norwalk

    Quaker

    Trails

    Thompson

Quaker will probably give a Similar price break.

I agree, I just like how "loose" Thompson is.

  10. Yeah, me too. NTR is playing games with the schedule this year and not being very forthcoming on responding back to my questions. You'd think with as loyal as CR has been with them, I could at least get some common courtesy and/or answers.

    I'll keep everyone updated.

When is D42 supposed to open back up?

Thompson and Quaker up here are also GREAT tracks that make for a cheap rental
