  1. Well it certainly seems like chad's turbo wheels are very efficient, to the tune of 120% or so. Let's do the math, 1 bar of added to a normally aspirated engine in a perfect world would yield a double in power gain. 1 bar is 14.7 psi, so with the simple math, again in a perfect world, your "stock" ls1 is making 368 whp, which isn't happening.

Your understanding of how a turbo works is incorrect. 1 bar with x turbo will not equal 1 bar with y turbo. It was already mentioned, but I will let you do your own research on that.

First I look at the low torque of 600 compared to the up level of 736 with a BONE STOCK ls1 that makes no sense . I am not saying these numbers cannot be achieved, I am saying that they are either erroneous, or that this is not a bone stock engine. Either way I appreciate the build, not the Bone Stock part.

The tune, turbo set up, and everything else I have done with the car was done intentionally to keep the torque as low as possible. Torque bends rods and breaks parts, not horsepower. This is exactly what I wanted. :)

I can assure you the motor is bone freakin stock-never had the valve covers or oil pan off. There is no point in my falsifying this- as most in not all other in the stock motor group are adding ARP hardware and metal head gaskets.

I have nothing to hide, but if you want to pay my time in labor I'd be happy to take it apart. :p Let me know, and I will send you my paypal info.

Maybe he will invite you to the next dyno session? Or when the motor grenades you can perform an autopsy?

Perhaps either of those options would ease your troubles

I mentioned to Ryan that if we both make it to the end of the year, it would be great if we could do a back to back dyno session and just stay until one of us is over 900whp, or we both blow up LOL.

  2. Yea on e85 with 317 heads and a cam I call BS

E85 is not magic-the gas itself does not yield more power-just allows you to use it like race gas and offers lower combustion temps vs. pump gas.

317's would lower my compression and net me LESS power.

It's not my fault Chad is offering a very efficient billet wheel's turbo. Call him and complain about it! :lolguy:

  3. PM me a price. :)

No PM needed. 11k would take it home since I am not looking to sell it and time soon, but if someone had to have it....

If your in the market another really nice FC that's ready to race

Thanks for the inspiration man. Cant wait to throw a 76-80mm single or YSi on the C5 now. I'm going after that stock LS record too, lol.

Thanks- and do it! I told Ryan we should have a dyno day together and stay until someone windows a block. :)

  4. that car is beautiful before you started, how much?

    Thanks.

If you asking about initial investment I traded for a 01 Civic with $1000 on top (I had about $1800 into the civic was t belt victim) and it came with an Ls1, hacked truck harness, T56, and many spare RX-7 parts. The car was a swap project abandon 7 years ago and sat ever since.

  5. Nice build with great results. I would like to see the car in action at an upcoming Cr track rental.

I'd love to, but how is tech for a track rental down there? Up here, its anything goes. Last time I was at Trails for a rental they were enforcing the need for a cage/shute for 9 second cars. I'd hate to go down for a rental just to be told to go home.

  6. . I have a friend that has a 2011 Evo X and a fun car to drive (Has most bolt on's and about 340 to the wheels). Plus 100 ponies would be a different car.

    .

    No, it wont.

In fact, it will be about the same give or take 10whp

  7. Damn you got more balls to push it than I do, I'm hoping for 850 through a 6.0 with a cam heads Intake with rod hints and head studs lol

I have a 6.0L in the garage I got for $100 as backup I will slowly set up with the "standard" studs/gasket/springs mod.

    I know, I joined it ;)

LOL didn't see that coming!!! :) What is that going in?

Jesus...You make me want to finish my truck so bad.....I wish I could find a damn local Shop/Garage to rent with heat.....FML

Still have the shop down there? Can you mod at the house? Your build is straight nasty!

    Nice! Sounds healthy

    What fuel?

540@8psi was on piss winter 93 (let me tell you, the fuel SMELLS like shit-not sure whats in it, but I can see why people blow shit up on it)

14-15psi was a pump/cam 2 mix. Its a safe pump tune, but not worth the risk with a 100% stock motor.

  8. Damn!!! Was waiting to see what kind of numbers this made but i am impressed! Especially for how cheap you put it together

Wait until I lift the skirt and leter' eat :p

So whens the sam vs jp race going down?

He's get me from a dig being auto-from a roll would be interesting. I have a lot of room left on the Jam knob but I know I am on borrowed time every pull above 15psi that I do-the Ls1 rods (I think) are among the thinnest in the stock LSx family.

Nice number JP, how does the car put the power down?

Like shit-I did some test hits when it was 45 yesterday and it would blow the tires off in 5th once it got over 10psi. Yes, 120mph burnouts. This is on a cold road with 255 street tires and stiff coil overs though-I expect it to hook well with 275 DR's and if not i will bolt the drag pac on. F it.
