  1. Why does it have to be factory boosted?

If you want 650hp reliable and cheap, the answer is always boosted LSx. lol

    .

From the guy who may have built and/or tuned more 4G63's than anyone on CR....

Boosted LS based truck motor is best. Yes, the 4G63 would be the cheapest factory boosted motor, but who cares since that seems to be the least of your worries

  2. Run once and get tossed if you don't plan on going back...

ECTA events are already much more of an tight pants party than all of the 1/2 mile wanna-go-fast and Texas mile events. One glory pass sounds like a fun idea, but in reality it would be a monumental waste of time.

  3. Impressive video.

Keep in mind that the East Coast Timing Association will be hosting its first ever HALF-mile event July 11-12 in Wilmington, Ohio. I suspect that this event will fill quickly, so if you quarter-mile champs are interested in stretching your legs a bit, better start the registration process now. It would be great to have a CR contingent in the field.

They are continuing their certification of The Ohio Mile this year as well.

Are they going to loosen up the rules any for the 1/2 mile?

That's impressive. Ten years ago 200mph in the mile was "da man", now 233 in half a mile.

In 2006, no Import had run 200 in the Texas mile. Tommy Bahn and I were the 2 that planned on going that had a shot. I wrecked 2 weeks before in testing, he ended up going 201.

    Live and learn.

  4. Looks fine, I mean your making more than 300hp here so its going to have movement..... Torque limiter never hurts or just a chain from the block to the frame. More pics?

No I'd try and build something with an actual dampener-think glorified hood strut.

There's probably a little bit of accentuated movement because of the camera angle. Note the curve to the drivers' fender? There's a bit of a "fisheye" to the lens to capture more of the engine bay.

Also, that turbo is hanging off the front corner of the engine a good bit...even with a little bit of twist that arm of a turbo mount out there is going to move more than the block does.

That's a great point!! Never considered that.

This is low on the LONG list of things I need to fix on the car. Likely wont be until mid summer until I can dick with building this, but next time its on the dyno I will try for a mid engine shot to get a better idea of how much its moving.

  5. I have Verizon.. I get reception just about everywhere except inside my house.

The Verizon Edge program is pretty cool, where the price of the phones are chopped up into all the months of your 2yr contract. It sounds gimmicky, but if you have a 10GB (shared or not) plan you get a $25 per month credit. My Note4 is $29/mo, so, the physical phone costs $4/mo. If you have under a 10GB plan you'll end up paying more than retail for the phone. I stream music every second in my car and generally fall within 6-8 gigs a month, so it all works out.

Yeah, but whats your total bill?

Thats just to always have the "latest and greatest" phone right? I dont need that, not a techy nerd type.

  6. Have you thought of boost mobile? i have a 100 off promo going on when you switch from another carrier. I can give you 100 off my cost on any phone you'd like.

you also will not be able to use your droid maxx with any carrier outside the verizon network. Pageplus is a great choice but there plans suck when it comes to internet

I am assuming you work for boost mobile? What is the benefit besides the coupon?

I used to drive truck cross country, if you travel much at all you won't like Sprint, weak coverage and their system at least used to require you to reboot the phone to get a good connection when traveling or you get shitty connections

So, it looks like T-Mobile >Sprint is a general consensus? I may just suck it up, and just fire up the old LLC and write it all off.

  7. I had Sprint and it was poor for me. I had T-Mobile and was happy with it. This was before LTE was around. I'd lose coverage around hocking. You have the best, imo.

    Who do you have now?

I have sprint and have zero issues with service. I have spark LTE here in columbus and when i travel occasionally ill get 3g in some areas but its fast enough to do what I need to do.

I am very happy with Sprint, signed up when the iphone 6 came out. I put zero down for the phone and pay $81 per month with taxes included for unlimited talk, text, and data.

Is there a reliable way to figure out Sprint's real coverage area? I would hate to get the phone and not have coverage in my house!! Also, do you have to bring a phone with you to Sprint? I like my Droid Maxx but I am not sure if I can "unlock" it.
