  1. My coworker did the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational (he won the MIS round in Aug and got the invite) Sounds like it was a big event and fun extension of SEMA.... He finished 4th overall and had the highest placing Camaro

Great event! Did it with a friend in 11-tow rig broke down in the mountains of CO on the way back :p

Didn't Danny Popp win this year?

  2. No sub, but it is apparent there is a spot for one. There is wiring for an amp so at some point somebody likely took out the stock one and replaced it with an aftermarket. I am probably just going to find whatever fits, take the amp out of my truck and get something basic in there.

Yeah unless this guy gives it to you, I would not waste my time on it-although it sounds great, its still OE, small magnet and a paper cone.

  3. I don't know. My stock system kinda blows. The stock sub was nice (at one point in it's life), but now is severely lacking. Next spring I plan to replace everything minus the head unit.

For reference my 06 Legacy has a far better stock system than the V. I would invest money into aftermarket audio stuff before investing into the stock. There are countless threads on the V forums on this topic.

Odd-but believable. I rode in a buddie's V (had 100k less miles than mine) and his was noticeably lacking in comparison to mine. Maybe someone upgraded my speakers??

Yeah, I ended up getting a 2006 in Stealth Gray with 60k miles.

Happy with it so far. Ill probably put 40-60k (1-2 years of driving) miles on it and upgrade to a V2.

    Nice! Congrats.

And it does not have a Sub? I though it was standard equip for a V

  4. I did not go, but my old man said he swung through and wasn't impressed. It is a very different kind of show from what I understand, just aftermarket OE parts.

APEX is 95% Chinese imports. That's where you go to take a tial waste gate, and ask a China man "how much for 1000 of these?" LOL. When I was with Shearer, I inquired about what it would cost to replicate our manifolds-they quoted us $125-$150 a unit made out of thick (think weld-el) SS, with warranty, SHIPPED to us on a pallet. Minimum order 100 pieces at a time. That was half of just our material cost at the time.

  5. Do all Vs with a black interior have a beige headliner?

No, thank god. That beige is the worst. Mine is back dash/doors/seats w gray headliner.

Thanks, I'll message him. Judging by your post he's gonna want a fortune for a caliper.

Maybe-maybe not-I told him to pound salt with what he wanted fro the dash piece and he immediately cut the price in half LOL.

Give him a call-tell him your buddy from Cleveland is supposed to see him Friday. We need group by pricing to deal!

  6. We had a booth there, so that is how I got mine. You could also do what Paul said too. Or if you know someone who would let you use their pass. This year they had a lot of stuff outside that was open to the public for the first time.

They always have a car show of sorts and demos outside, but that is about 4% of the Show floor.

Did you guys make it to Apex as well?

BTW getting a pass is very easy-even easier if you send proof you are at all affiliated with someone in the industry before hand. Its more of a pain to a pass get day-of on site.

PRI on the other hand is VERY easy to get day of!

  7. Hopefully you don't run into cooling issues with that setup, or have to constantly run the fans

It has not seen anything north of 185-but I have not driven it in hotter than 75 degree weather, or done any WanGan runs with it. Sitting at idle, fans cycle once every 2 minutes for 20 seconds.

If it runs hot, its a Summit Scratch and dent run away from better cooling.

  8. Are you grabbing the shifter bezel?

No, I did the Testers model paint mod on mine and it came out prefect!!!

BTW-do you know if that shiftier Bezzle and the top Dash piece by the window are V specific? I want to be able to haggle with this guy as he is trying to charge Cadillac Tax on everything I am looking to buy!

  9. looking solid! I look forward to see what power this setup makes. You have a TON of turbo, so its a matter of how much you want to push the motor setup.

all that being said, you should have just gone straight up with cheetah hood exit exhaust ;)

I considered it. Lord knows it would have been easier! But, I am SO over this hood exit fad especially for a real street car. That is race car shit IMO-and this as with all my builds is a street car first.

  10. No kids, no plans to have kids, not sure we're even capable after Yasmin's chemo but to be honest they were never in the plans anyhow.

You can put a child seat in the front of an R8. I'm sure there's some massive debate on if it's proper to do that but it's an option, I've seen it before on the R8 forums. Heck I've seen forward facing child seats in the front of GT3's in the european fixed back Recaro's before. I agree with Eric that you'd be better with a 2 door coupe that has a back seat but we're all getting older so f'it and if you've got the means get something that excites you to drive!

Appreciate your input. If I went that route, I would not be hauling the kid anywhere until he was out of a seat all together. I don't think its unsafe to put a child seat in front, I just think its ridiculous. At the same time, 95% we are going anywhere as a family, we take the Rav anyhow. Its a strong argument either way.

  11. 10k ctsv and a 100k r8, obviously not comparable :)

The r8 is an excellent all around car, so much better than the gallardo.

The one person I know who had one of these trucks had countless issues

It's all relative my friend. ;)

Price is what you pay, value is what you get. I am not sure if the value of a 2 door pseudo supercar trumps the need for 4 doors; hence why I asked if its a part of their decision making or on their radar.

  12. Eric/Andy, Semi related but do either of you have children? Plan on having children? I only ask because I am looking at the Euro 2 door sports options next year, and struggle if I really need 4 doors. The V is a great DD, but I drove a buddies R8, and it was just not comparable.
