I said I am not a guy that starts threads to drive attention. Driving attention to what he is doing isn't being an attention whore or starving for attention... Guys start threads to promote things they are doing in terms of racing, what they are building, etc. I start threads once in a while of things I am doing because I am proud of the end result or sometimes I post threads that show new paint, etc. Those are driving attention to the bike and my projects. I think there is nothing wrong with starting threads about what you are racing or what you are going to do. I just don't do that with my racing and stuff... I probably made that come out wrong when I posted it, but by no means feel Brandon is starving for attention... He is looking for support and there's nothing wrong with that...
-
By the way, just as a note, I never stated that Brandon was looking for attention... I was complimenting him on his accomplishments and supporting him and trying to prove a point that guys saying it was not against the "good" guys was false. I also was saying the fact is that he made the field and that was something not many on here could do... I also feel that this bullshit back and forth regarding AFJ and ORD is silly within this thread. Keep it in the other one. This is Brandon's race thread and that's what should be discussed.
-
Whoa, tiger... I will defend myself and ask you where I have finished last in every race I ever ran. I never finished last in any AMA Pro Supersport race I ran... Maybe in your mind I did... Second, not sure where I ever down graded Brandon or anyone with their lap times. Mags got on here and made it sound like anyone can do it. I disagree. Tell ya what, super star... I will give you my bike, my fresh tires and my race fuel. I will give you a full day to ride the bike and sort it out. Then, we will run laps and see who is faster. After all, according to your stupid ass mentality, you should be able to do the exact same thing since it is purely about money. I'll give you everything you need. You just bring your talent that apparently is the same as Josh Hayes since he of course gets everything free and you could do the exact same... You coming on here and then bashing someone like me who tells others to not come on here and make it sound like they can do what Brandon or any of the guys in that race can do is totally funny. You're an asshole, dude. You have been challenged to come out and ride the track. You have an avatar with you on the bike leaning into a turn so you can pretend you do this. How many track days have you even done? How many races? Oh, yeah... You COULD race and you'd INSTANTLY win because you have the talent. BUT, you don't because apparently, you don't have enough money. Seriously? Talking out your ass again... Nice. I also like how you slammed Brandon. You are saying he didn't run any impressive lap times. Saying he apparently needs to take race schools vs track days. Wow... You insult a guy that is trying hard and IS running impressive lap times. He made the God damn field!!! He made the race, fucktard!! That's impressive. I can promise you that you couldn't in the time it took him to do it. That's not a superior complex as you mention. I am saying that you cannot beat Brandon's times and you certainly wouldn't make a grid at an AMA event in the period of time it took him to go from expert to AMA grid. Now, your retort ought to be stellar...

Experience w/ Midwest Cafe Racing Association

I thought you had a race license? Why were you not racing with the licensed racers??? -
Experience w/ Midwest Cafe Racing Association
Moto-Brian replied to ohdaho's topic in Track is Crack
You crashed in that oil? Yup, I figured it out once those "control riders" were chiming in on the forums trying to tell everyone about their system. I think the biggest issue is the fact that they oversold everything and had no clue as to how to handle it all... -
Be a bigger man and just ignore him then. The deal I was referring to was about the people that think they can do this. You couldn't do the job as a head team tech as well as say, Reuben from 35 Motorsports. But, you are right... He probably couldn't do your job as well as you do it... The bottom line is that we all have talents, some of us can do a lot of different things. But, as you did with Ped, you got very upset and are lashing out at me saying I am stupid for what I stated. That's not a good way to debate things nor respond. The "you can't do it" was simply the racing part and the comments relating to that. Again, Ped is a guy that does this a lot. Just ignore him. This thread was and IS about Brandon at Atlanta... Wish him luck and move on. One of the ORD members mentioned things about the racers and the shifter and cutting it. That was a few members actually... So, are ORD members any better with those comments? I was offended and responded... Same as what you felt and did with Ped's comments... Relax, man. It's all good.
-
Oh, just to make sure this is absolutely and 100% understood... I am not taking a single side to the AFJ vs ORD. I think there are things that have been said and we can re-read all that in the other thread. I am supporting a fellow racer and that's it. I don't have to agree with what he has done on here and I certainly do not have to take any side. I am an enthusiast, a racer and a guy that likes to see fellow racers do well. I wish him luck, I am just wanting all the folks that do not do this and THINK they can do this to understand it isn't as easy as it looks. Trust me...
-
Wow... First of all, it isn't as easy as anyone here probably thinks. I laugh as I sit at the races and hear these ass clowns tell everyone they could run just as fast as the last place guy. Riiiiiiiiight... First of all, there are things that aren't going to pop up in your regional track day. Things like the spark plug issue happens to everyone and isn't due to shit workmanship. Maybe it is. Maybe it wasn't. Who really gives a shit? Brandon knows my feelings on this ordeal and I think he is doing what each and every guy that owns a sportbike "thinks" they can do or what they wanna do someday. He gets that chance and made the show. First, you must make it. He did. Then, you must race and finish. He had some bad luck. But, will be back today and probably be fine. ANY of you - including Ped have zero input in regards to this as you've never been at this level nor been around it. Shit happens. Always does. If it were easy and smooth, everyone could do it... They cannot. Good luck to Brandon and be safe. All you other guys, just be supportive. I'm not a guy that makes threads to drive attention, but we should be supportive of a local guy doing good like Justin, Worbel and Kerr. All four guys are Ohio boys and are doing well. That should be the focus. Not about AFJ vs ORD, etc. Your personal opinions are fine and I support everyone saying what they want. But, when it comes to the race side of things, like Ped stated, unless you've done it, unless you've been around it outside of a fan and spectator, you have no idea. None. Be nice or simply shut up. Oh, and a final note... To the guy that stated something to the thought that the class is not the "good" racers? The kids at the top and really, in the top ten are all solid racers. In fact, the kid in 2nd place is going to probably be the next big thing and he is only 16. I can promise that no matter how billy bad ass anyone on here thinks they are, that kid will wipe the track with your ass and never break a sweat. I have had the honor to have been waxed by him and I can say that he is an amazing rider... Keep Jake Lewis in the back of your mind as you will be hearing it later in years to come... Also, to the comment that "if he cannot cut, he can't cut it"... He qualified. That's cutting it. Again, if I hear anymore shit from anyone that say the last place guy doesn't deserve to be there or they think they could make the field - I challenge you at any time you feel like you can pull the times, we get you to Mid-Ohio and I will get it set to allow for an open and clean track and give you the same amount of time these guys get to get the times needed. I can promise, you will not get it done. Even with zero excuses and the cleanest and best scenario to getting the fastest lap times... ijs. Good luck, Brandon. Live the dream, buddy and make it happen. Good luck today!

Look, it is for cornering. The problem with you is that you are jumbling everything that is being said into a big ol' pot and stirring it. Counter steering can be contradicted when moving slow. You are in your driveway at 5 mph and turn the bars to turn the front wheel to the right, the bike will go right. Counter steering is for cornering. It helps assist the bike to turn also, but overall, for cornering. It is used to initiate a turn of the bike. Turns, corners, apex, etc are all the same idea. This is why you really need to get on a bike like an MX bike and practice. If on an MX bike, you can fall over and not be really in any bad shape. Play bikes work best, but the idea is that you are completely targeted on counter steering. I TOLD YOU THAT YOU SHOULDN'T BE OUT THINKING ABOUT IT. You have done it for years if you have ridden a bicycle. Just understand the principle. Understand means to just grasp the concept. The biggest thing you need to do is practice what is in the MSF course. Watch YouTube, see what they are doing and set that same scenario in an open parking lot and practice. If you target on certain aspects, all you will do is make things worse because you have at about ground zero in terms of experience. It's like talking about trail braking. If you go and focus your attention on trail braking, it is too advanced for what you are capable of. Thus, some of this talk of Twist of the Wrist is a bad idea. There are just too many advanced concepts that a guy like you would try and have some seriously bad results from. BASICS - BASICS - BASICS. YouTube, shut the fuck up here and get out and practice. By the way, I have only seen 1-2 people get the counter steering thing wrong. That's it. There are numerous that got it right. But again, it is something that you really need to get away from thinking about while riding and certainly not something you need to be out practicing. You have a SHIT PILE of things that you need to understand and practice with. Otherwise, better get real familiar with fixing shit as this last event you had is only the beginning. But hey, it ain't no big deal to you, right? Just like speed, man... You got this, yo!
-
That's really advanced chemistry. I wanted to start at the bottom and work up. You are cool to try the mixture. Just make sure to add that teaspoon of sugar also.
-
Only in his case since he is new do you want to do this in every turn. You may also wish to shut the ignition off and then back on very quickly while at full throttle. This not only gives an excellent flame out of the exhaust, but helps with a sudden surge forward. Also, I always suggest to newbies like this that they should immediately get the hacksaw and cut the mufflers clean off. Fill the tank with diesel fuel (He drives semi trucks so, he probably gets a hook up) and make sure you head out on a long ride. Diesel fuel is great for cleaning fuel injection on gas bikes. Little secret I only share when it is Friday at 3:45pm... Outside that, try and stick the right knee out on left turns and left knee out on right turns. Helps with counter steering...

It IS a big deal, doucher. It's no big deal to you because you crashed at 10 mph. Wait until you crash. You tipped over. It's this mentality that has shined through and your endless responses that IF - I - F you actually listened, would see that there are shit piles of good people giving good info out. But, even with an EXACT representation of counter steering, you have no clue. None. Why is that? I mean, maybe we are looking at this in the wrong light. Maybe you are just really ignorant and need a lot of help. I am starting to believe that. I'm not saying you need to be Steve Jobs to ride a bike. God knows I am not a smart guy. But, how I learned to ride bikes was mostly to listen and to take what I was told in a coaching type of way and apply it in a controlled environment. I didn't have the luxury of an MSF course when I started. I got on my CBR600 and took the license course and got a little "M" on my driver's license. I then was able to take a lot of good info and use it from guys that were like coaches. I started when I was 19 years old. That was late. No MX experience, no real experience at all. I started racing 4 years later and have done OK with it for the last 18 years. I've logged more street miles than average, but nothing near what some of these guys log. There are guys on here that have so many street miles per year they actually wear out bikes. I've had overall seat time in the neighborhood of probably double the average on all types of bikes, terrain and conditions. What I am honestly trying to say is that this site and these peeps have enough experience to help a dude out. But, you need to be more like myself and be a sponge and do less talking and telling us how it is. You dig a hole after we fill it with enough good info that all we are now doing is talking to a brick wall. There's a shit pile of good info here. A ton. But, you've clouded it up to the point that it is 6 pages all because of what? You DO NOT GET WHAT WE ARE TELLING YOU. Nobody said to get rid of your bike. Although, I am starting to fear you are a guy that wants to be a motorcycle enthusiast, but really shouldn't be riding. But, what we are saying is that even though seat time is always a positive thing, you are going to continue to develop so many bad habits. Street guys in general have developed bad habits over the years, but it is minor things that are not dangerous, but are simply small little hurdles in the way they do things. Your bad habits are going to develop into DANGEROUS things that are going to get you seriously hurt or even killed. You can laugh it off, say it all ain't no big deal and even tell us how low a risk 120 mph is, but at the end of the day, it again points to the idea that you are not well educated on motorcycles. If you were, you should be somewhat scared. Do you even know how much easier it is to get killed on a motorcycle KNOWING WHAT YOU ARE DOING than it is driving a car? If you did, or if you would actually think about it, I think you might have a change of heart and really push to get more education. But, I cannot wait for your retort. This will be good...
-
Nah, I understand a lot of people are in his same position. Like I said, I have been doing this WAY too long and have seen just about everything. This guy isn't like everyone starting out as he is that guy that honestly won't listen and do what he is suggested by how many people so far, makes all the excuses he can think of and then goes and takes a LITTLE bit of info and then acts like he knows what he is talking about. I can respect a healthy debate on certain things in an effort to educate yourself. I do it all the time. But, you need to be at least a LITTLE bit educated to debate. "Who knows, the bike turns where i.want.it.to and thats good enough for me." Enough said.
-
We don't, but he sure as the fuck does. I'm talking in circles apparently and trolling so, what the fuck do I know? Guy is running around with non working blinkers, crashes at 10 mph because it was an "expert" turn, relates counter steering to semi truck driving and can take and run all the fuck long on a Saturday, but apparently only has one a year he gets off. I think I'm not talking in circles, but rather talking while my head spins off into the ozone... Wait, maybe I want my head to pop off from this thread...

I think you are doing what most folks do when they slap "race gas" into their bikes... One, the fuel is not doing anything for your bike. A bit of power increase, but unless you have Dyno Jet butt sensors, you really cannot tell. The ol' brain is telling you that there is more power and better throttle response when there is such small % of increase that there's no way. It's like saying you picked up a few HP from the air filter you put in. You cannot feel single digit HP. Now, one thing to consider is that you don't have a high compression machine. You are essentially wasting money. Higher octane as Serpent mentioned isn't power, but pre ignition resistance. On a twin, yes. In-Line? No... So, save that cash, buy only 91-93 at a GOOOOOD fuel station and you'll have the same results. Best thing to do is try and find a station with low Ethanol content in the fuel. That's better than anything... You can try some U4.4 and even though it is bad for the Cat, it will show you a difference in good fuel...

Dude, PERFECTO!! I freakin laughed so hard after seeing that. AWESOME!!!
-
God, I am gonna regret this, but at this stage, I just wanna see if I can get this guy to keep on posted dumb ass shit more. First of all, let's work backwards because yet again, you have zero fucking clue as to what you are doing or anything that has to do with a motorcycle. You are willing to have someone teach you and spend a fucking Saturday doing it, but you cannot take a God damn MSF course? Seriously. Second, the MSF course is a guide for mostly those that have zero to little experience. I know you have a whole 600 miles on a cruiser in the city, but guess what? EVERYTHING you've barfed back up in terms of what you've heard people say and you seemingly think you know all there is to know about is wrong. WRONG. You need to get trained, to get educated and above all, shut up. To add insult to injury, you decide to do the typical 3rd grade "I know you are, but what am I?" response by telling everyone that STARTED to help you out, guide you and overall, show concern for your well being that they are hypocrites and violate every rule they have learned. THEN, THEN, you go on to say some bullshit squid response "Sure you may not find speeding a serious risk(I dont) but the truth of it is it can be a serious risk, keyword CAN." My head wants to explode at your complete and utter ignorance. I honestly have never hoped someone balls their shit up into a pop can, but in this case, I feel you are only going to learn the hard way. Yeah, yeah - I know you drive a semi truck and even still, you think counter steering is when backing a trailer. FUCK LORD, SWEET 8 LB., 6 OZ. BABY JESUS!! Dude, if you could do each and every one of us a few favors. 1) PLEASE shut up and get trained. 2) PLEASE inform us when you are driving east bound and down in your tractor so we know not to be on the road. I can promise that I have probably been near you in your semi and about 6 seconds from wanting to 4th and 99 you out of the way... 3) PLEASE stop reading and listening. You obviously have really low reading and verbal comprehension. You should only read and listen if you can UNDERSTAND what is being told of you. We've blown through more pages than what we should have, but the unfortunate thing is that YOU are the one that keeps propelling us into Dumbdumbville. I swear to God I am afraid to go and race next weekend. I am afraid that all this ignorance is going to rub off on me and I am going to forget to counter steer. Jesus!!! Oh, and a final God damn note that has been noted before, but you've obviously missed. YOU FUCKING COUNTER STEER ALL THE TIME!! YOU DID IT WHEN YOU WERE A KID ON YOUR BICYCLE AND DO IT ALL THE TIME ON ANY BIKE!! IT'S HOW THIS SHIT WORKS! Understanding it and applying it to higher levels of ability are what we are all telling you. But, you cannot understand as you obviously cannot google counter steering and understand the small words that make sentences. I'm out. I swear this time. PLEASE!! Craig- Do you have a icon that shows a skull being slammed into a concrete wall until it bleeds? That's what I need now...
-
It was by no means an "expert" turn. I give up. You know all about it, seems to be the same damn thing as semi truck driving and you are arguing push vs pulling. And, now all of a sudden he knows what the fuck he did wrong. JESUS!! Where's the face palm icon? Fuck. I give up. Good luck. When you wad that shit up, shoot me a PM so I can buy it from the insurance company for my 12 year old that is more ready to ride than you. Before I go, make sure you try using the clutch to power out of turns. You wanna slip while revving the motor so you can "squirt" out of the turns - especially 10mph hairpins. Allows the motor to never drop RPM and when she bites on exit, she's at full tilt and ready to eat!! Out.
-
Counter steer 101 real quick... You push the left bar away from you, you turn RIGHT. You push the right bar, you turn LEFT. COUNTER is the key word... Also, when at full lean, if you remotely start "thinking" about what to do, you are going to wad your shit up yet again. But, the fact is that you can see the results of counter steer in cool race shots. Watch the bike come out of a turn. Which way does the front wheel turn when they are doing a power wheelie? It is counter from the direction they were going. Coming out of a left hander, the wheel is pointing right. Again, this is something I HATE TO NO END when riders like the OP that have literally less ability than most the younger kids I watch ride and yet, we are preaching some seriously advanced things to be thinking about. STOP READING TWIST OF THE WRIST II. There are great things that are basic and truly something more advanced riders can and probably should read and watch. BUT, SOMEONE NEW DOES NOT NEED TO READ THIS STUFF!!! You have way too much to process and reading and then trying to apply when you are riding is really dumb.
-
Must... resist... commenting... Why oh why are we talking about counter steering and the OP is telling us stuff that is so far beyond what should be done and yet... We sit here and keep going and going and going... Bottom line - DO NOT think about counter steering. DO NOT. That ended with NOT. You counter steered as a kid on your bicycle. It's how you turn a two wheeled machine or bike. You did it, do it and really, the LAST thing you need is to be thinking about it. DO NOT!!! Take a God damn course, bro. Please. Stop posting responses here, let the thread die and get educated. Period. 600 plus miles and you are talking like someone that hasn't ever thrown a leg over a bike. You really need serious help. Serious.
-
I'll be there Saturday also. No spooning...
-
50 lbs in bike terms is a ton. 50 lbs and where it is located, etc. Flop a 250 around and then go ride a CBR. WAY different. Look, we can all get into this BS back and forth about how one handles, how one doesn't and how a fucking dirt bike beats everything cause Billy Bad Ass did it at one time. I don't care anymore. I said my piece and suggested what I did. You all can armchair from here and pretend that things are all the same. I'm out.
-
Hey fag, so you don't have a fucking excuse... I can grab all your shit and haul it up for you on Saturday. Meet on Friday and I will take it all so you can drive up in an econo car and save gas. Boom. Now what?
-
GREAT thoughts!! I guess I take for granted that everyone should be using the front brakes mostly. I forget that newer riders tend to use the rear brake mostly... You, my man are probably dead nuts on what occurred. Good call. Exarch, again... Nobody here is going to bash you for working your ass off for you and your family. I understand hard work and almost zero time for anything else. But again, something to consider... You have a motorcycle that you worked hard for. You have a family you work hard for and love greatly. The issue here is that you are VERY low on the totem pole in terms of ability. Essentially, I would wager you had zero experience prior to buying. No off road, nothing... So, the issue/concern with me is two fold. One, you are trying to get info. That's great. However, you are processing it wrong simply due to not knowing. The top reason I hate the internet - it is too easy to get drawn in to what you feel or read to be correct when in fact, it is dangerous and can be deadly if done wrong. Second, this sport is dangerous. Sport, hobby, etc... Dangerous as in even if you have YEARS of experience, are one of the best riders in the world, etc. - there are so many variables out there that face riders that if you have ZERO experience, that can pose a serious issue. I've raced for a long time. I've watched heros die, I've watched heros make mistakes and end up in wheelchairs. I have witnessed friends and peers crash and die in front of me. It's even more dangerous on the street. I've seen the results of other people making mistakes, riders making mistakes, riders going outside their ability window, etc. Some get back up and dust off, some have been picked up in pieces and their next of kin called by a sheriff... You need to make it a priority. Number 1 if you want to keep riding. Do it for that family you work your ass off for. You can get the days off. Again, quit looking at it as lost wages. $320? That's chicken feed compared to what can/will happen if you keep avoiding it or prolong it... One day or two days is nothing compared to having to take a day off to go to the doctor and do rehab. Or, God forbid you get hurt to the point you need to be off for a week... Employers don't take crashes as excuses for missing work. Had a buddy have a serious crash and missed a month from work. They had to replace him while he was gone. He came back, but guess what? They stuck with the other guy and he got laid off... Just saying I respect what you do for working and family. i do. But, I also have seen thousands of guys like yourself from when I worked at the shop to all the years racing and working in the motorcycle industry. It's just something that can be resolved and easily a way to get educated...
