I'm all about the carpool, brother. Keep me posted. I will only do one or the other and not both... -

Well, that makes it even tougher... I really need to focus on both tracks for two different reasons, but could just do the extra Friday practice with the RRGC and be fine, I suspect... Craig, you made it tougher... -

I'd also expect craig to do Advanced also... If he doesn't, I am going to kick his hind parts. -

Uh, won't be in Intermediate, brother... I'll probably chance it and run Advanced... I'm worried that I might be too slow, though and get bumped down... Maybe Andy can show me the fast line. -

You have a race license?? The races are somewhat just a lump of riders. I doubt I race them if I go, but may to try a setup or something and pit in between laps or something... I am still on the fence with the going to this. I can go to Nelson on Saturday and test and tune the day before and only have to make one single trip up and back. With Putnam, I have to out and back for that event and then up and back for Nelson... For a track day, that's a bit of an expense for no return in my mind. Would be fun as I would like to set up for the AMA race for the RRGC, but we will see... -
Funny! Walmart welders, eh? They must have a slew of them at the Easton factory where they build bicycle frames...

Galion, baby!

Anyone ever rented out a track and had their own private trackday??
Moto-Brian replied to Dubguy85's topic in Track is Crack
I had picked up a 2007 1000 after that 750 and raced a few rounds. I then bought a 2009 1000 since Suzuki never brought in the bike in 2010. I raced it a few rounds and sold it this past winter... I now have a 2011 KTM RC8R Race Spec. Will be down on power to Justin's pile of shit ZX10 fire breathin dragon, but will give it my best shot. They do not allow bigger twins in the 750 races... -
I am on the fence about Saturday as I might be doing Putnam... But, for sure on Sunday. 1000 Superbike races, maybe 1000GT or the Mini 20...

Hmmmm... Don't remember any race stuff back then. Track days for sure... Everyone is fast at track days... Nah, I miss ya out there man! I got your PM and will get with you about a lunch meet up soon. We can remember the old days and get you going for the new ones! Moto Series is where it is at, dude. They got better grids than WERA and honestly, we were pulling as fast and in some cases, faster lap times than the WERA guys all with a more laid back approach. Wrobel, Neyra and myself were clicking pretty well with all the while just giggling a lot of times or letting things slide that normally would be pushing and pressing. I know we could have gone faster, but the racing is old and good and this year will be the toughest for me since no more 1000... Justin's almost 200 hp ZX10... -

When was I ever not safe is what I wanna figure out... -
R6 is the cool aid for a reason. It is literally the most raced bike and then the GSXR falls into second and Kawi third. The R6 and GSXR are great choices for a few reasons. Ease to convert, parts availability at the track and when needed, chassis development, and of course, power... The R6s are the best. The GSXR years 08 and newer are awesome and the latest gen Kawi. The new upcoming 2013 Kawi is supposed to be the shit next year so, keep an eye out. The Honda is cool and you will learn to work on it as you keep it. But, once you jump off the wagon and land in Yamaha or Suzuki territory, it will be like a switch was flipped. We went from the F2s and F3s after 3 full years of racing them to the new generation Kawasaki ZX6R at the time and was like "holy shit!" when we started prepping it. It was EASY!! Then, went to Suzuki and was blown away at how even easier that was!

If all you've known is Hondas, you cannot understand. If you go R6, you'll see instantly. On the GSXRs for example, yes, you need to remove the airbox to access the throttle cables. But, it is SUPER simple, very quick and easy and access is immediate. Also, just try and race convert a Honda with the wiring and such under the tank... Ask Reuben what he would rather work on and convert over. A honda or something else...

It does. The Hess JBOT bought from me was a Large initially. I had to convert because Bell did not have any Mediums for me at the time due to the Star being so new and the Hess just coming out. They sent me Medium pads to convert it... I think it is also shown in the interior with a Large decal. Dunno... It might have been another Star, but I have BRAND NEW Large interior crown and cheek pads all needed to convert the Medium to a Large. He has a Medium and can use those pads... They are SUPER easy to change out. I M-A-Y have Brand New Medium cheek and crown pads also. I need to check my inventory as we keep extras for use when at the track and one set is sweaty and needs washed and the new pair or clean set can be swapped in and be fresh...

John nailed it for you. That's the right info. I remember my buddy going down and signing and never had the OHP do an inspection and he came out with a street title for a CRF450...

Yeah, maybe a motard guy, though! I would try them! For track use, it is use at your own risk no matter what, but with being stored outside, the issue is freezing and then warmer and then freezing again, etc. Those cycles essentially take and harden them to the point they can actually crack or break... It's a deal where you really need to look at them in person. If it was a 16.5" front, I'd be all over it for motard use. Again, by the looks, they appear fine. I'd really make it a deal that you need to look at them in person. It's a helluva deal and worth the trip to see... Good luck. Seems you have a good price no matter what, but motard guys need that front and can use the rear at the drag strip. Heat the shit out of it, do a burnout and it will most likely be fine for the weekend warrior. Same with the DOT rear...

Now you understand why a lot of guys race Yamahas and Suzukis.
-
Use your pads from the Bell I sold you. Bamo! Fits!!

Ohio is the easiest state in the country to convert. You only have to have it inspected and I've seen guys even avoid that and just go to the Title Dept. and state they need a street legal title and they got one. But, if you can't, you need a horn, a front and rear light with working brake light. Mirrors or at least one (right side seems to be preferred), DOT tires. Go to OHP office and have it inspected. Done.

Good call. I edited the post and deleted the size. Medium BUT - I DO HAVE SIZE LARGE INTERIOR PADS IF IT WOULD BE BETTER FOR SOMEONE!!!
-
If they have been stored well in room temps, they are probably fine. I'd run em at a track day! They look good for the age. People don't need to fear the build dates as much if properly stored...

I have two hard front and one medium rear Dunlop GPAs for sale. Asking $150 for all three. The fronts are like new and the rear has some wear, but easily will make a great track day tire. Both fronts are 120/70 and the rear is a 190/55 which is perfect for 600s... I can deliver to Columbus, Cincy, etc... Hit me up via PMs... I can take pics if desired, but they are solid condition and have been stored in my basement and it is at least 71 degrees all the time.

$130 and TWO free pairs of goggles. You can sell one set for $25 as easily as pie and essentially get a $400 plus lid for just over $100. BRAND NEW!!! Everything!! Hell, if you buy it at $130 and have kids, I will also throw in 2 free pairs of BRAND NEW Fox goggles for them as well!!

$150 and just a clear shield and helmet bag. That's as low as I can go.
