well whatever was wrong, the bike would idle, but would not rev at all. I also cleaned up the carbs and gave the bike a general once-over. If i replaced a part that didn't need replacing, oh well - it has been running fine since then.

ha - my get-off is memorialized in a thread here somewhere. I washed out the front at 5 mph braking to avoid rear-ending a pickup. I rode the bike home and replaced a case cover that had cracked and was weeping a little oil. (because i feel compelled to defend myself, the truck i was following braked at a yellow light I was SURE she was going to blow through. I was right on her bumper, planning to do the same. She braked unexpectedly, and I panicked. very low speed.)

Does anyone have a site they use to find the weights of various frames, wheels, engines, etc.? I'm trying to compare the mass of a 450 single versus a 250 twin (both liquid cooled)

wow. that's pretty insane. I could barely get to work and back on that tank... I would have to fill up daily. Then again, I can't commute anyway, which is why i'm trying to trade my street bike for another dirt bike.

How do you have the ammo cans mounted?

The thing with pre-2003 F4i's is that they were still Honda's race replica. As a result, they're not as comfortable as the 2003 and beyond models that got much more street-friendly ergonomics from The factory. Not a reason to avoid it, but unfortunate given its likely use.

How many takes were there?

Which way do you want to pay me to argue it? This is one of the issues they would litigate.

The Katana is spending too much time in my garage. I would ideally like to trade it for a XR/CRF 100 plus a few hundred bucks, or a street-legal enduro straight-up. The 100 would not need to have a title. Anything else WOULD need a title. The Katana has a clear title, but it has been down at low speeds. It runs and rides just fine, but there are minor issues that should be addressed (things I'll probably fix slowly over the winter. Fork seals, little bodywork issues, a cracked rearset that I need to pick up from eBay. Nothing major) This bike wasn't running properly when I bought it. I replaced the throttle position sensor (if my memory is correct), the brake lever, and put on a circular headlight. Cash price is $1000 firm. I like it more than that, and will just fix it up and keep it if I don't get that out of it - but an XR plus a couple hundred, or a really nice CRF100 would get me to part with it.

My neighbor, Scott has worked for Pulte for sure, and possibly Ryan before that. He's still in the industry, but I've lost track of who he works for. I can contact him if you'd like, but I'm not sure his insight will be any better than those who have posted here. He's going to have a more educated opinion on construction quality in general, but I can't foresee him really providing much more information than the 'reputation issues' people are already throwing out there. Any builder is going to want to maximize profits. Showing up frequently so they can't sneak anything by you is probably the most important thing, but making the builders love you doesn't hurt either. Show up with coffee and doughnuts, or a 6' subway sandwich and some drinks, then chat it up with the fellas or foreman while they eat. Maybe you're just wasting $60, but maybe they remember how nice you were to them when they're about to cover up a mistake rather than fixing it. Every time I have held a labor job, I have had 2 types of coworkers - the type I would actually want doing the job if I were buying the product/service, and the guys he supervises or tolerates... The latter are just earning a check, and can typically be bought, literally, and/or metaphorically, with favors.

I don't doubt that. I was more wondering machinist, computer programmer, OTR truck driver, paint/body work, chemical engineer, meth cook - that sort of thing. I have met people who do all those things, and worked plenty hard at them.

I feel extra poor right now, because our mortgage just went up by $400 with the new house. Not sure if i could afford a new Mustang or not ...but I'm sure I can't rationalize it.

the comments are funny at least.

I see this kind of statement made frequently, and I often wonder how subjectively we throw that term around. I have only ridden with (maybe) 10 members of this site, and always on a race track. Even those guys have certainly progressed since the last time I was on the track with them. It makes me wonder how an objective 3rd party would evaluate everyone's (and every bike's) abilities. That would actually be a fun article for a motorcycle publication: "We test EVERYTHING." And then they (preferably 1 rider, or multiple riders getting seat time on ALL the bikes) get to turn laps on a race track with stock bikes of all styles. I wouldn't bother literally testing everything, because I think it's fair to assume that a stock R6 and a stock ZX6 are comparably capable. What I'd really like to see in numeric proof is how a Honda Shadow stacks up against a Goldwing against a 1000RR against a VFR1200, etc. To me that would really demonstrate how much of a compromise is being made in the name of comfort and practicality. but maybe I'm the only one who wonders about that kind of thing. Plus I think it would be hard to get a manufacturer to supply that many bikes... I can dream though, can't I?

the XR1200 guys were dragging hard parts all day long at Mid-Ohio. I'm not surprised a V-Rod would... That said, the XR1200 guys were also pulling lap times that I would have been happy to hit on my 600.

Coworker sold her Saleen mustang before she had a chance to put the new headers on. They're in new, never installed condition. Part number 6230-2 Internet says these go for $800+. Contact me if you want to get in touch with Teri directly. These are also posted on the "ohio mustang parts" facebook group with pics, and more info. I'll do my best to answer questions. If i can facilitate a sale on these, I'll be pushing for her to let me drive her new mustang

remind me what you do for a living...

alright, i pulled quarter mile times for the V-Rod, and I need a new bike. I can't own something slower than a stock Harley

and "may" be allowed is not the same as "shall" be allowed, or "shall be designated."

Issue 3 is not going to pass. Look at us - i think it would be fair to say that 85-90% of the members here have no problem with legalized marihuana, and WE can't agree on the specifics of the issue. If I'm being honest, I'm waffling on the issue myself. I was leaning toward supporting issue 3, but it does feel "icky" to vote for a constitutional amendment that allows a monopoly instead of real liberty. The law should only license the SALE of marihuana, and then existing zoning laws could govern production. I get it - we don't want marihauna farms popping up in East Cleveland just because property is cheap or residents want to go into business. Legal weed will be valuable, and thus attract crime. (Interesting news pieces on Colorado weed farms btw. They operate like the federal reserve...)

One of the Magistrates i practice in front of has a V-Rod, but I'm not sure which year. Let me know if you don't get enough responses and want me to ask.

Statistical risks associated with drag racing motorcycles

And my wife gets waaaaay more money if i die on a bike than if she divorces me. -
boring to drive sucks. Boring to own is awesome. I got a set of 4 tires for the 'rolla for like $230 installed... I run it to 4,000 miles or so between oil changes, and although the check engine light is on right now (i'm suspecting something w/ teh thermostat), it's still getting 33+ mpg. I may buy a new front seat for it when this one hits 150,000 miles...

I believe that's the Camry engine. I considered buying my coworker's xB with a 5-speed manual, but she wanted way too much for it. It was higher mileage, so I wasn't going to drop $6500 on it. I think she still has it and plans to drive that in the winter to keep her Jeep nicer. Because that makes sense...

No way it will stay that light and meet government crash requirements. They'll have to punch out an R1 engine to get it to really be a performer, or maybe modify an FJR engine?
