  1. there is a bit of a mental block to get past when having to dump the clutch. Especially when the bike has been lurching like that. If he does wheelie, or skids the front tire for more than a foot or so, that's a bad time...
  2. LBTS. GLWS. Wish I had the disposable income to pick this up and race it.
  3. I like that a lot. With Kevlar reinforced jeans, it would barely be distinguishable as riding gear.
  4. Was the guy so short that he couldn't get his weight off the seat?
  5. an expert race license, assuming N2 is using the same rules NESBA used to.
  6. I would question their work ethic, but I can't see the advantage anyone would gain by lying, and getting title to a vehicle that they don't actually possess. Perhaps I'm not devious enough to see the angle...
  7. I actually think torque wrenches often lead to over-torquing. I'm my not saying don't use one, but I would rather be a tad loose and not snap the bolt. Especially on things that are safety wired anyway. I snapped caliper bolts that twisted before they were properly torqued. And that was with an old-school (read as "not out of calibration") bar-style torque wrench. Never again
  8. Gotta commit. Dump the clutch or burn it up like he was doing.
  9. two wrongs don't make a right. 10 or so wrongs make a riot...
  10. you want to see totally out of control? Put me on a 450!
  11. Josh's experience was more in-depth than mine was. I bought my F2 from a NJ or PA seller. The bike was in the bed of my truck and had race bodywork on it, so no headlight or turn signal inspection - that shouldn't be needed for just a title transfer. Maybe they only do that if you're also plating it? But he's correct that it's a joke. the BMV employee had me get into the bed of my truck and read her the VIN. She never even looked at it herself.
  12. What are you looking for out of this vehicle? There are a lot of things I wanted that I chose to live without. I hate everything about my Corolla on paper, but I have not had any problems with it, and it gets 35+ mpg with the AC blasting. If I were buying new, I think I would look at the Elantra or Forte. I'd want to get the bigger engine and a 6-speed, but realistically, the base engine and an automatic are just better decisions if you're keeping it long term.
  13. ZZR600 rearsets are likely interchangeable with ZX-6 rearsets from '95(ish) through 1998 (I think). Maybe later. They may be mildly more aggressive, but I would be shocked if the mounting points aren't identical, and you can find them cheaper online all day long. Ask in the WERA vintage forum if anyone has a set laying around that you can take off their hands. that model ZX6 is V7 legal up to 1998.
  14. 2014 Rodney King... I wish LEO's would just wear chest-mounted GoPro cameras at all times, and be done with it.
  15. Virtually any bike is a good bike for a first track day. Long-term, most people will be forced to learn more on a less powerful bike, but like everyone else said, the track isn't some piece of demon asphalt that suddenly highsides every newb on a liter bike. Just go out and have fun. Then go home and cry yourself to sleep when you realize how much rear tire you cooked ;-)
  16. I'll be there, rain or shine. But probably shine.
  17. didn't TurnOne have a kendon trailer that he sold to another member?
  18. It's nice to know that after 8 seasons of riding, and 6 seasons on track, I've finally gotten a great beginner bike :-D
  19. I said it before, probably in this thread, profiling is real, because it is effective. Blacks are 13% o the US population. Like it or not, the US is predominantly white neighborhoods. Police look for whatever it whoever appears out of place. A nice car with a white kid driving it in a "black neighborhood" draws just as much attention as a black kid in a "white neighborhood." The crimes they may be assumed to be committing may be different, but the fact remains that both draw suspicion.
  20. "Positive profiling" is a load of shit. Police profile anyone who looks out of place. A black kid in bexley gets police attention as a likely burglar just like a white kid in east Cleveland will get attention for buying drugs. Police profile because it's effective. It's not "right," but it is effective, and that gets their job done.
  21. You've got a ton more suspension travel on the sumo, plus it's a totally different chassis. Accept the differences and don't throw money at it trying to make it feel like a sport bike. At your weight, heavier oil should be all you really need...
  22. Crown isn't my favorite, but my father in law keeps it stocked, so I drink it frequently with him. The bottle I buy most often is bulleit bourbon. I like the rye only a tad less. Knob creek is also one I really like, but bulleit is considerably less expensive. I rode a motorcycle 6 blocks after half a bottle of CC once. Can't believe I can still stomach it after that night, but I rather like it. Definitely my favorite Canadian whiskey.
  23. Like everyone else said, a little oil residue is fine. Some magazine actually suggested the following "life hack" for if you run out of gas in your car/bike: Because most people don't carry a gas can, you can avoid buying one at most gas stations by checking the trash or emptied oil bottles.
  24. Why? So he can have Pauly do all but the simplest work?
