+1 for AVG. Running it on 3 household machines and most of my side jobs. Trend Micro is good stuff too. And the free ones don't usually have all those 'extras' that things like Norton suites have that sucks up system resources and bogs apps down.

This sounds like it could be a couple things. Malware could be one. Try going to www.malwarebytes.org and download the free version. You may have to start up in safe mode with networking as well. If you want to check your system logs, right-click on the My Computer icon and click manage. From there, you can see logs under event viewer. Also, do you have system restore set up on your PC? Maybe you can restore back to before your OneCare install. Sometimes, the uninstall doesn't remove all of the registry changes the install makes.
