Popular Post Tonik
......it was blowing 20 steady with gusts to 30. The solid cement lane was closed, so across on the grate we went. Thought Mrs. Tonik was going to die. She is pretty fearless on the bike, she had been over 60 pm the Dragon....but bridges and water are to r much for her. We got to the toll booth on the far side and the lady said that will be 4 dollars. From the back of the bike I hear....FOUR DOLLARS? YOUR BRIDGE TRIED TO KILL ME, HE AIN'T PAYING YOU SHIT!Tomorrow, the falls and painted rocks and along the north side up to Houghton.
Tonik
Oh, and if any of you come up this way. We are staying at the Kewadin Hotel and casino in Sault St Marie. 80 bucks, awesome buffet and a casino. Got 20 in comps for signing up for a card, turned that into 75 and cashed out. ohiomike
When I was a na at the VA back home one of the patients on my ward had helped construct the mighty Mac. I read his pendaflex (past records) and some of the stories he told were really funny. Those winds can get really hard. Years back a lady was blown off the bridge during some high winds. Anymore they will close the bridge down once the winds reach a certain point. I've gone across on 2 wheels and while in a pickup during some real wind and it can be darned scary....with high 'pucker factors'....lol

I've been going over that bridge for years, good weather and bad. The grating in good weather wouldn't be bad. My luck I would get weather like you had. If you have time take a quick run up to Lake Superior State Park / Whitefish Point. Great view of Lake Superior and the Great Lakes shipwreck museum. madcat6183
I was kind of just thinking about this because next year we plan to go to Mackinaw Island and all that jazz with the parents and Luke for a mini vacation coming up from southern MI, and was wondering what the restrictions are when towing a TH/TT. PLan is to bring the TH up there and stay at a KOA, but almost wondering if getting one before the bridge and then just traveling accross with the truck to a hotel for a night might be a safer option. Last time I went over the bridge I was about 5, loved it. Loved all the Forts up there, didn't care about the Locks, but want to get back and see those again. I do remember watching a film about building the bridge and loving that stuff. Also played like 10 games of Putt Putt a day, and didn't want to do the dunes or anything but putt putt. OsuMj
The casino in hessel has been kind to my family, but only during the weekdays - the weekends are losing times.idk if oswald's bear ranch still lets you hold the baby bears, but I suggest it if you haven't been there already Have fun!!! Yep, we got to hand feed then and pet them. I'll post pics when we get back. It is awesome up here, well worth the bridge.
RidersDiscount
I've lived here two years now and I have yet to barely make it north of Grattan and that was only because I missed the exit the first time. I need to get up there. Edited September 13, 2013 by RidersDiscount

You won't have a problem. I drove mine over in August when it was still poorly balanced in a decent crosswind, and had no issues. You won't be going over 20mph because one lane is always under construction and trucks are limited to 25mph, and there's always a truck somewhere in front of you going slower than that.
