Ansky
Got a letter saying my bike has been reclassified to Sport/High performance and because of this my rates "may be affected".No tickets perfect driving record I've been paying $250. a year. Called cust serv. they said my rates will go up to $893. per year not because of anything on my end but because there have been " A lot of claims on that particular bike"Unreal. OsuMj
Similar reason as to why I got rid of State Farm. They said there are a lot of claims for people who only have motorcycle insurance, so my rates were going up because of that... nonsense. smccrory
Ugh, not good to hear. I switched from Progressive to Rider last summer but haven't used any of the coverages.
Gixxus Christ!
I was with American family until I bought my fzr and they told me there was a 400% markup on sport bikes. Trashed them and called progressive. Been with them ever since.
smccrory
Don't worry. When they send the letter stating your DL650 is a drag bike, and your new premium is 11ty billion dollars... you can go back to Progressive. LOL, thanks for the smile man, I needed it! 2talltim
Wonder if I'll get the same news in about a month when my renew comes.
gsxkat1100
Been with progressive since I started riding, never had a complaint. 2 bikes at a time being insured, less than a c-note a year. My bikes are way less valuable to them than you guys' bikes though.
F4iguy
Started with Progressive for my Wing, and now have them for my F4i. Very reasonable on both.
zx3vfr
They told me my ninja 650 was a supersport and that since I lived in the big city of Akron with high crime rate (actually Copley with most crimes being teens stealing from Walmart or domestic abuse) that my insurance would be $1,200 a year with no tickets, claims or not at faults in 8 years.Ended up going with state farm for 280 or something a year while I had the loan on it. We will see how much it is without the loan. Edited February 18, 2015 by zx3vfr
oldschoolsdime92
Geico- less than 200 year for both. Edited February 18, 2015 by oldschoolsdime92
Gixxus Christ!
I went back to Geico. Tried to go with Allstate, but the agent really jerked us around and lied to me. That ended poorly for him.Throat punch?
gsxkat1100
Throat punch? Hopefully.
TimTheAzn
I have State Farm now, bundled with my renters insurance and car. So I get some sort of discount. Never looked anywhere else like Progressive, maybe I should check it out. I've been on a money saving binge lately.
Gixxus Christ!
Progressive is the cheapest I've found. Even when I was insuring my old widow maker tl1000s it was less than $100 per year for above state min liability. The roadside assistance is ok but only covers a pretty small radius from home and the one time I used it, they left me waiting on the side of the road for 2 hours. Progressive said it was because the tow company was busy but when the driver showed up and I asked him, he said they had gotten the call over an hour ago and quoted progressive a price, then progressive called back an hour later and accepted it, so during that hour I was throwing pebbles at a squished squirrel carcass, they were calling all over town trying to find a better deal. Steve Butters
lol progressive tried telling me that my bike is the same as a cbr1000rr and wanted $550 per MONTH for insurance on a 2012 naked bike with a 12k sticker...fuck them. driving record was clean at the time as well. geico pulled the same shit on me with this bike, also wanting about $500 a month...i dont remember the exact figures, but the overall policy was quoted at about 5200-5700 for the year (with geico being the lower of the two) im with national general (gmac formally) and they insured it for $125/mo ($145 now after a couple tickets).... and $125 deductibles for claims, which beats the $250-500 (i forget which) in the progressive plans Edited February 18, 2015 by Steve Butters
Tigerpaw
Another vote or progressive. With speeding tickets and accident claims...I still only pay $90/year to have full coverage on both bikes.
bowdog
I am $900 a year with Geico and that covers the R6, supermoto, both quads and a boat all with full collision and theft. Driving record is decent...should drop a little next year when i turn 32.
Bad324
ProgreSive and geico were assholes on the VFR. Allstate was great but rider is still half the cost. And at this point the damn thing sits in the garage more than it's ever on the road to care about fancy bells and whistles
Gump
My only complaint about Allstate is their damn notifications in the mail or email. They never tell you if the cost has went up or down. They just say their has been a change to your policy and they don't say why or if the"change" is an increase or decrease. I laid into them the last letter I got. It was good news but for christs sake spell it out. Dont piss me off every time you send a letter by making me call you to have explain what the hell it's all about. I'd be out of business if every invoice I sent required a phone call so it could be explained. I might shop them just because of this issue. TwiztedRabbit
Statefarm... $213 a month for the panigale. The 848evo the cbr600rr and r6..
3.504
My 2012 s1000rr through riders was 300/year comprehensive. My 2014 Ducati hypermotard sp started at 300/year but like similar stories was "reclassified" and now runs me $600ish/yearMy 1999 BMW k1200LT is covere for 80/year comprehensive through riders. Overall, for me they're still the least expensive. I've considered shopping again soon. Insurance is something you should always shop, usually once a year or every other year. Gump
I pay, per year, $140 full coverage on the 599, $90 full coverage on the quad, and $800 on the house with Allstate. House is $200,000 to rebuild, another $200,000 for contents, then all that other gunk.
bloodninja420
Do you guys have, like, zero speeding tickets on your record? In shopping coverage for my 600, I can't even get close to some of the full coverage numbers in this thread.I'm 30s/married/white/never involved in so much as a fender bender. Just a good deal of speeding tix..
