copperhead
I was riding with Mark when a pair of 600's couldn't pull a bit. It was rather humorous. As for what he has in it - I'm not going to say any exact numbers. That's up to him. Just keep in mind that he bought it before Fast and Furious came out, so you might want to subtract the ricer tax from those numbers. Then, keep in mind that he did the turbo swap on a budget, pieced together by hand. He has a lot less in it than you guys are estimating. He could make a decent amount of money if he were to sell the car right now. And Jon, you never really answered my questions. I fail to recognize any ownage, and therefore see no reason to buy you shit. However, I will be enjoying a beer tonight at applebees just for you, junior. tongue.gif

In fact, I spend quite a bit of time at a drag strip, and a stock 600 is faster than about half the cars there. 1000 cc sportbikes can't do wheelies like a 600? All I can say is step away from the crack pipe. Traditionally, 1000 cc bikes have been 20 to 30 lbs. heavier than their 600 cc little brothers, but with the introduction of the R1, that all went out the window. This year's litre bikes are the same or lighter than last year's 600's. The major differences between 600's and 1000's are between 145 and 185 mph. The manufacturer's compensate for the power difference between the bikes by using different gear sets in their tranny's. The other major difference between the two is the torque curve. 1000 cc bikes have a wider, flatter, torque curve than the 600. At highway speeds, you might have to down-shift a 600 to pass, where you would just twist the throttle on a litre bike. The truth of the matter is that the average street rider will never see the ragged edge of either bike. A heavier rider can better use the increased torque of a litre bike in the street environment, making it easier to ride. That's about the only difference. As far as chicks go, most want to know whether it is a Harley or not. Of course, there are a small (but growing) percentage of enlightened ladies, who know plenty about the two-wheeled world. Other than patiotism, there isn't a good reason to buy a Harley. Their last engine update was when AMF (a Canadian company) owned them, and they decided to put TWO cams in them. Wooo hooo! Other than that, the basic engine design is from the middle 1930's. It uses push rods, a single pin crank, a HUGE (like 40 lbs.) piston rod assembly, and the engines start to have pre-detonation problems above 9:1 compression because of the air-cooling. The average Harley is 30 less HP than a 600, and weighs nearly twice as much. A Ninja 500 (20+ year old design) will spank the average Harley. The real question is: Who would spend $18,000 on a Harley, when you could have the equivalent of a Formula 1 car for half the price?
Guest Roger Hupp
The people that say that (new) 600s are turds are the people that probably don't own bikes. While I prefer my 1000,(new) 600cc sport bikes are no slouches. If I lived in Columbus I would have bought a busa, most of the roads are straight anyway. Some people can't afford to drop 10gs on a new 1000cc bike. Some people buy the 600s just so they have something to ride. I know I would. Until the fags that talk shit can hop on a new 600 with SSQ race tires and drag an elbow at Mid-Ohio, just shut up, stay at home and jerk off in front your PC like you probably always do. A 1000cc sport bike is the only way to get millon dollar performance for 10 grand.
