For you guys with High Dollar cars...

First off, if you have to ask if your Honda qualifies....no. It does not...by ANY means.

So, you guys with High End cars: Do you work on your own car, or do you pay to have someone else do it?

The reason I ask is, I get a lot of enjoyment from wrenching on my car, and the feeling of "I did it myself".

So....???

I don't really consider a Z06 a 'high dollar car' but, yes, I do ALL of my own work, minus painting.

Well, for the average person on here, a car...that was new...at near $50K.... it is ;)

And thanks for your response.

Anyone else?

I wouldn't call my bucket high dollar but the drivetrain is up there. Everything but the machine work on the block was done by myself.

plus one on that!

My car is not high dollar, but I pay people to fix it. I could take the car apart and put it back together... but I have no patience and anger management issues. I once threw a muffler across the garage and put a huge dent in the wall.

I use to do everything on my own so I could say 'I did it'. But I can really careless who does the work now. I just want it done right. If it's a fairly easy job I'll just do it myself, but if it's anything too major I'll just pay someone to do it. So when I plan out my mods, I'll just plan it out with installation charges included.

I agree with who cares who does the work...alot of people dont have the time or the patience to do it themselves...or the proper tools. If you do it yourself and think that makes your car better....here's a cookie http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:wmMhO_Xh0Q3EtM:http://twiggs.org/images/5203-bakery-crisp-chocolate-chip-cookie.jpg

I never once said that wrenching yourself makes it better. I was just curious that if the guys who could can plunk down coin for a car worked on it themselves.

Simple actually....

I am assuming your talking about a late model high car, I do my own wrenching/painting on my hobby stuff. I dont have a machine shop so block work is farmed out and automatic transmission work I farm out also.
