The announced today that as of April 1st, they're flying to Niagara Falls International Airport. I just booked my wife and I round-trip for $103 for our anniversary May 22nd (May 19th-23rd).

Could I have used my frequent flier miles instead? Sure. But at $100, why?

Damn, how'd you get it for $103, the cheapest days are $25, so I thought I was getting 2 round trips for $100, but then they tack on $33 in taxes.

Either way though, I guess $67/round trip ain't bad.

Thanks Ant, girlfriends never been and bugged me for a while a few months back, this'll be a nice surprise.

Now find me cheap hotels and things to do. :D

Thank god, for a second there I thought it might be the same weekend as I'm going there. :p

Saw that this morning and booked tickets too. Got $25 each way, so the same as you Superhawk, $133 total round trip two tickets. When I booked mine this morning there were tickets for $10 both ways still, just not on the days we wanted to go.

Pretty funny because we went away for a long weekend after Christmas and were debating Niagara or St. Louis, but we were driving. We ended up going to St. Louis, then this pops up so now we are going to Niagara.

We flew with them to San Diego back in August and it was no different than any other airline. Except for faster (loading and unloading) and cheaper. Food was decent too (I'd die w/o food on a 4 hour flight).

I ended up getting $25 seats there and $10 seats back.

Has anyone bought the "Priority Boarding"? If so, is it worth the extra $40 round-trip?

I've never gotten priority boarding, and its never been an issue. If I wanted to stay close to the door or had a group of people I wanted to sit next to I would. But for husband/wife your not going to have a problem sitting next to each other generally.

I read this somewhere earlier this week. That is cool. Maybe now I will actually make it up there. Heck for $103 you couldn't drive up and with today's gas prices.

That's not really correct. From Columbus to there is about 360 miles (depending on your to/from locations, give or take a few miles).

Round Trip = 720. I average 18 MPG in my Avalanche there and back (not exactly the vehicle you take to get good gas mileage), @ $3.00/gallon (purchased for less than that today) = $120. For say a mid-size car getting 25 MPG, which is quite realistic, we are talking only $86.

Then don't forget the cost of a rental car if you want to visit anything around there (my g/f and I went in October, made the 1/2 hour one-way trip to do the awesome jet-boat rapids tour, as well as drove to visit some sites and go to a vineyard). We stayed at the Sheraton on the Falls, so even though we were in the thick of things, we still would have spent money on a cab to get to/from the airport. Parking wasn't costly due to where we stayed.

Overall, driving is still cheaper, especially if you want to drive anywhere. Plus it is far easier to get things through duty-free in a car. Drive time is ~ 6hours one way. Figure it is probably an hour flight, plus dealing with airport time, you probably have 3 hours wrapped up flying there total (customs in a wash regarding time driving or flying).

Even with airfare that cheap, I'd still rather drive there. :) There are so many things to see around there that aren't the falls; you really do need a car.

But have fun everyone, the place is awesome. Maid of the Mist is very overrated. Some damn awesome places to eat. Casino at Sheraton was decent...made some profit there. You HAVE to try the Jet Boat; it's not cheap, but very memorable.

Wife and I went and the Butterfly Conservatory is worth visiting. Its another one of those 1/2 hour from the falls places. Its also a flower conservatory so if you like Innis Woods or Franklin park then you'll like that place.

The revolving restaurant is also a neat thing to dine at, but IMHO not worth $80 for two people for admission + dinner.

It's more of a time and convince thing than anything else for me. Of course I'm not going to spend $$$ for tickets to there either, so this is the perfect half way point so to say. Rental cars are pretty cheap too. Of course we'll spend a little more money, but not too much more and it's a lot easier.

The g/f was saying something about the vineyards/winerys, might do some of that. And the jet boat does sound awesome, if they are running them when we go I will definitely look into it. Thanks for the suggestions. :)

Take a piece of advice from somebody who's done it five times: TAKE THE "MAID OF THE MIST" BOAT RIDE. It is simply, in one word, AWESOME. They take you right into the plunge pool area below the falls. At one point, just below the falls, you realize that the boat is actually floating about 2 feet lower in the water, because the water has so much oxygen in it that it can't support the same weight. Then you realize that you are actually going UPHILL, on the water.....

Just be aware that, like they used to say at Sea World, "You WILL get wet..."

Another piece of advice: If you go on the US side, be aware that the area starting about a 1/4 mile north of the Bridge is about as ghetto as it gets.
