In Detroit. That's where I live on the weekdays. The guy was driving like a jackass through heavy traffic... not the way I'd treat a brand new $100k car. Still, it looked bad ass. And sounded bad asser.

I don't know if these aren't on the market yet. The thing had a manufacturer's plate on it and the left 2 exhaust pipes seemed a tad bouncy. I think it's an engineering test vehicle.

If it had an M-plate on it then it's classified as a test vehicle. However you will also see lots of cars floating around Detriot area streets without M-plates before they are available to the public. Those are part of the manufacturers captured fleet that's used for fast feedback of any last minute build/calibration issues.

You are correct. One of my friends thought that these cars are now available but have a long waiting list. I'm not sure if they've released any yet.

mound rd and 18 mile is certainly not a neighborhood.

If that's where this was then you need to drive around there more often. Being just north of the GM Tech Center and the Hybrid Development Center you can see a lot in that area. Not to mention when engineers take vehicles home for the night.
