TheHaze
I don't smoke pot, but completely agree with legalizing it. Medicinal and health issues/purposes aside, how can the government, state or federal, dictate what you do in your free time if it doesn't affect anyone else? This should be regulated like alcohol, whereas as long as you're not using it in public or operating equipment, than you're fine.
cptn janks
alcohol and cigarettes do way more damage than reefer, yet are legal... i think the thing is, too many people have built careers off of putting people in jail for smoking the devils weed. the government spend about 600 dollars a second on the war on drugs, that money is going into someones pocket... anything gets legalized or decriminalized, and thats just taking money away from them. cptn janks
another thing that is fucked up is the disparity for mandatory sentences for crack vs powder cocaine. Currently one need possess only five grams of crack (a sugar packet's worth) to draw a five-year mandatory minimum sentence, no parole and no judicial discretion. Only 50 grams (a candy bar's worth) gets the defendant ten years. By contrast, 500 and 5,000 grams of powder cocaine, sentences, are needed to get the same sentences. who has 5 grams of crack? usually people in low income areas. poor people. now who has 5000 grams (11 pounds)of powder? same low income people? doubtful. TheHaze
Any of you guys hear of Salvia Divinorum? It's very low key and has absolutely no deaths or illnesses reported from it(except for one very controversial case). It's been around for centuries, at least, and is legal in most places around the world, even a majority of our country. It's slowly being made illegal and is now up against legislature here in Ohio which will most likely pass. Why? Because people who abuse the plant made videos and posted them on Youtube. That's it. This is only one example of our great dictating government. There's thousands of plants, herbs and natural occurrences in nature that can affect humans mentally or physically. Will the government just keep banning them once they catch on? You can legally buy synthetic pot that will get you high but not the real thing? My guess is because that's easier to control and tax so that someone can make a quick buck off of it.
Akula
As someone that has been to Amsterdam, I can say that when I was there it wasn't like all crazy pot smoke everywhere. Yes, there was some. Yes, there was a line at the coffee house at rush hour. Yes, there are a few people there that are borderline homeless. Same as any big city. Amsterdam decided that drugs are around, leagalize the least disruptive one, and it isn't such a big problem.

ImUrOBGYN
you also lose your license for six months for ANY drug offense in ohio. regardless of if you are in a car or not. if you are sitting in the park smoking a J and the cops write you a ticket for it, you lose your license. and the 100 bucks is only for possession. the thing they get you on is paraphernalia. max penalty there is 1000 dollars and 6 months in jail. Go old school. Roll a joint. No paraphenalia, no left over evidence. lol here are some quotes from Anslinger on why pot should be illegal (circa 1930) "There are 100,000 total marijuana smokers in the US, and most are Negroes, Hispanics, Filipinos, and entertainers. Their Satanic music, jazz, and swing, result from marijuana use. This marijuana causes white women to seek sexual relations with Negroes, entertainers, and any others." "...the primary reason to outlaw marijuana is its effect on the degenerate races." "Marijuana is an addictive drug which produces in its users insanity, criminality, and death." "Reefer makes darkies think they're as good as white men." "Marihuana leads to pacifism and communist brainwashing" "You smoke a joint and you're likely to kill your brother." "Marijuana is the most violence-causing drug in the history of mankind." lol Crazy some of the shit people say, print, post, whatever. I don't see how people can lie and manipulate in such a way and live with themselves.
