COLUMBUS, Ohio--A plan to expand gambling in Ohio is expected to be on the ballot this November and it is getting a lot of support. An exclusive NBC 4 news poll showed strong support for the casino plan which will be on the ballot this November. Sixty-two percent support the plan while 31 percent oppose it. Issue 6 is a proposed constitutional amendment that would clear the way for the construction of a casino in Clinton County. Brad Pressman is the co-founder of My Ohio Now and a potential co-owner of the casino. Pressman says the casino would provide an economic boost creating jobs and keeping money that now goes to neighboring states that already have casinos. Opponents to the proposed amendment say that a casino would increase gambling addictions and ruin lives in the process. Voters will have the ultimate say on November 4th. For information opposing the casino, visit votenocasinos.com. For information in favor, visit myohionow.com.

I think it would be a good thing to bring them to Ohio. Keep the money in the state. If people cannot control their own addictions, it's not the state's issue IMO. They still drive to casinos in MI, IN & PA. Keeping the money in Ohio is the main goal.

I'm for it. Other than people developing gambling problems, whats the down side of it?

My neighbor put a 12 ga barrel in his mouth and pulled the trigger with his toes because he could not quit betting the ponies. Besides him leaving his 10 year old boy to find his body and mess, I don't see a down side either.

Why didn't he just pull the trigger with his finger?

Ok..... so he was a weak person, and could not control his own actions.

No. The last thing we need to do is make it even easier for middle to low income uneducated folks to flush their money.

I don't buy the BS that lotto and gambling funds go to education. Fuck that. The education system is about as good at handling money as those that created the current housing / economic situation we're facing. Why give those that can't manage what they have another dime.

Well said. I agree with that. Lotteries are nothing more than a back door tax for the poor.

Sure we should have Casinos.

I know there a million sob stories of people losing their money or their life due to gambling. I could tell you the same stories about alcohol, but it's legal. Let's face it, the people that can't handle gambling are weak willed and would find another way to destroy their lives if they didn't have access to gambling.

Yes.

Keep the $$$ in our State, and use the tax dollars to fund education.

Exactly^

I am for it. Everyone needs to get their heads out of the sand and keep the money in our state. If you have a gambling problem you are probably blowing your money betting online anyway.

I used to be against casinos in state. That is until I met people that go to all the states surrounding Ohio to go gamble. We're surrounded with casinos that are all betting on the fact that we'll say no. They make tons of money off Ohio.

I say keep that money in state. :)

NO i say hell no WHAT tax dollar the same tax dollar that the ohio lottery is suspose to help the schools in ohio.if the casino came we will not get a tax break

Nobody is saying we will get a tax break. That is not the issue. I think you may be confused.

Indiana collects nearly $900 million yearly in tax revenues from the casinos. A significant portion comes from Ohioans.

On the attack on the taxation of this property, it should be noted that this casino/resort would be the highest-taxed company in Ohio. Start with the tax before the tax: a 30 percent gross-win gaming tax. On the remaining 70 percent, the casino must pay its overhead, state taxes, federal taxes, property taxes, employment taxes, sales tax, occupancy tax, etc. The casino would not be asking for any tax abatements or credits.

This project includes the building of a guaranteed $600 million resort/casino that would be the largest private investment in Ohio in the 21st century. This would employ up to 5,000 Ohioans at an average salary of $34,000, plus full benefits. In addition, there would be a hiring of 2,000-3,000 Ohioans in the construction of this facility. If this were a Honda plant, would we have to fight to locate in Ohio and offer thousands of jobs?

Keep the money in our own state. The extreme end of gamblers will either do so online, or out of state, or illegally. Let them spend their money here, create jobs, and support Ohio instead of WV or IN. Plus I'll be able to go play a decent game of blackjack every now and than. That's right, I occasionally gamble. Believe or not I haven't even blown my 401k, or my daughters college fund. I thought that was suppose to happen to everyone that dared the evils of gambling.
