Self defense ammo, what do you use?

When i picked up my 1911, The sales person was happy to sell me these.

It's been said, but I will say it again...

 

You gotta make sure it works. Use what works best. It doesn't matter if you think you have the world's best personal defense ammo out there. If the gun won't eat it, then you have a useless piece of metal. When in doubt, use ball. 1911's can vary between themselves drastically. I've had consecutively serialed guns that wouldn't eat the same ammo. It all just depends on what works, then YOU adapt to that.

In all seriousness,

 

-Federal 155gr. HST, Remington 165gr. Ranger T's on reserve for the G23

-Federal 230gr. +P HST for the 1911

-Federal FliteControl 00 buck for the 870 and Saigas

-200gr. Hornady FTX's for the 460

-350gr. Winchester JHP's for the 500 (<^ in case a bear breaks in...)
