Casper
I'm going to look at a 1965 Mustang. What are some typical trouble spots I should look for? I know the normal floor and trunk pans, shock tower, etc. What else?

Avenger1647545502
Rear spring and shock mount areas...the area under the rear window on notches can have hidden rust, look at it from underneath.

Guest tbutera2112
and for the love of god i hope its a fastback and not a lame boring coupe
Mensan
front windshield cowl area ^^ He's got it right. The cowl in front of the windshield fills with leaves and dirt, which blocks the drain holes. The standing water causes rot inside, which rusts the vents, and the water then drains into the car, and that's what makes the floors rust out. Any suspension components made of rubber need replaced. So do the springs, front and rear. Also, it will most likely be slow compared to anything you have driven, and it handles like shit. Still, I love them and would drive the shit out of one. Casper
I was a boring old coupe. Lol. I don't care for the fastbacks that much. But it was rusted pretty bad. Sucks. Car was quite promising. Thanks for the input guys.
wnaplay1647545503
There was a real cheap one on craigslist last week. Guy was asking I think $3k for a decent shape driver. Check there if your still looking.
Habitual Sinner
No better classic Stang than the '71 Boss 351 in my book. God, I love the Clevelands. http://www.themustangnews.com/photos/BJ06/lot_1210.jpg The deffinition of pure sex. If you can deal with the solar panel rear window. Habitual Sinner
Have you ever drove a 71-73 with the Cleveland? I test drove one at Arena Motor Sales and instantly fell in love with it. I have always had a thing for Clevelands though too.
pontiacfreak142
tyler, the only thing that looked better than the 69 boss 429 was a 67 GT500. Ive never been a huge fan of the 71-73's, but i would still rock one.
AJ
depending on what you want to do with a car like that you should look into the aftermarket stuff before you buy. there is next to nothing performance suspension without getting crazy expensive and you are very limited on tire size.
