What a long 8 month vacation....

Ill use this thread as an introduction, rather reintro back into CR. Exactly 8 months ago, i butt hurt a few people, made some comments i shouldnt have made, ran my mouth, etc etc etc. That is all in my past. My grudge isnt even on here anymore. Imagine that. :D

So lets begin with, im sorry, and let me introduce you to my car.

Crazy to see pictures of my pos dsm days after i bought it. Almost a year later, its still broke, and so am I. :D

So much as been changed since i bought it. Lets start with the basics, its a 1998 Eclipse GSX, Magenta grey pearl, or purple to my friends, lol. The car has only 59k miles on it and nearly no rust. After buying the car, everything went down hill. The fuel pump was overrunning the FPR. Fixed that. Turbo blew. Went to replace my 20g on it and broke the 02 housing. FUCK. My build had to start months before i was ready.

We put the car under the knife and ended up worse off than i started. We literally replaced everything on the car. New wheels, new tires, new brakes, new fuel system, new turbo, new intake, new ecu, new wiring harness, intercooler, cams, springs, yadda yadda yadda.

Prepped the car for teh streetz. Well, that never happened. Not even close. Not realizing why the car wouldnt start properly because the original wiring was hacked, we figured that out and rewired properly. Still wouldnt start. We manually could get the car started by bypassing the ecu. But not until it was too late, the ecu was the culprit. Unfortunately the motor was fucked. The motor was drowned along with the rings washed. My dreams of driving my car were gone.

Along with my patience for the car. I was seconds from selling everything. Although, Erik, Patter$on, wouldnt let me give up. So....here is to him, and to the project of.......

All pics are up for now. New ones this week will be of the overhaul on the head and block performed by the meticulous Robert Proffit of Performance Research. As well as the new turbo, intake manifold, exhaust mani, etc.

Also, i gotta give a shout out to major_payne, aka chris for spending so much time on my shit. He powdercoated and polished every one of my parts. Thanks brah

Sure the first two are from the weekend i bought it. The third is after we put on the valve cover i already had from another car, the oil catch can, and plugs/wires.

4th: Showing off the EvoX rims and new Nittos

5th: The engine bay 99% complete the first time.

6th: Head after taking it off the block.

7th-10th: Showing off the tear down and clean up of the head. Benifits of having a parts washer in the family to use. That head was fucking clean when i took it to the machine shop. LOL. Proffit was impressed. Hard to do.

11-12th: Showcasing how it looks at the moment.

I have about 4 items to purchase still to finalize this car once again.

This is the final round actually. The dsm has put up a good fight. I've had too many to count and I have too much invested not to make this one perfect. But your right, most would have given up or gone bankrupt a long time ago.

BUMP:

Here is a minor and rather sweet update.

1. Block is done. Ready to roll.

2. Head is machined, getting final assembly tomorrow.

3. All bolts are or order, being shipped tomorrow.

4. Gaskets and seals are on order.

5. Cams on order from GSC.

6. After 5 hours of waiting at the junkyard, black panels and rear black leather seats are home.

7. Thanks to Carwhore, my NT TB is ready to ship to Steve Monroe for a rebuild and porting along with the half shaft mod which will increase the bore to 65mm

Here are some pics.

Man, all that stuff looks so pretty James. I am sure those Evo seats are going to help you beat me at the shootout this year ;)

In all seriousness though, progress is coming along nicely. Can't wait to see the finished project. Have you sent the turbo to FP yet?

Nope. I just took it home today. And shussssh. ;) But i did get my GSC S3 cams ordered and they will arrive tuesday or wednesday.

The head was done today but i forgot to have him do the oil port mod. So hes doing that tomorrow. Im off monday so ill pick that up and get the whole motor assembled except for the timing belt on. I get my bolt kits on monday as well. Things will go together quickly! I am sending out the throttle body this week too.

Im getting excited about this project finally. Its hard to imagine so many months ago when i tore this car apart and now finally, after so much money and time, that its going back together. I cant wait.

GSC cams are in. Everything to assemble the motor besides some assembly lube and misc loctites and sealants are in. Here is a link to the cams.

These cams will be run straight up with no gears. This was recommended by several tuners. Redesigned by GSC, the cams are good enough on stock gears to still make tons of power up top and mid range, but not kill the idle. Should work good on my larger motor.
