I can't believe I'm asking this question, but which vehicle is more reliable?

A. Honda civic hybrid

B. VW TDI

Both cars are 120k miles, same year, and same price (about $6k)

Or option C. which is just buy a cheap regular Civic for $3k and save the rest of the money for gas and repair.

Regular Civic.

How long does a Hybrid battery last? How long does a regular car battery last? What happens after 5-7 years when the battery doesn't work as good? You going to spend $3,000 or more for a new one?

VW? Not reliable. Might be a blast to drive, but lots of coin to keep it up.

Prius Batteries are reported to be good for 300k miles. My mom's used Prius has 100k and is fine, perfect car for a grandma who doesn't drive much. Almost no maintenence, uses hardly any gas for city driving. She has had it 8-9 Months and drives fine. Battery is good. I had it checked out by a Master certified Toyota tech before purchase. She has filled it up maybe 6 times.
