What is your Best photo?

Recommended Posts

Great question but not one easily answered as many of mine are not ones I share here since they are for clients. However, here are some that I enjoyed taking and have posted on my public site.

Perhaps one of my favorite shots and edits. I just love the soft warmth of images like this.

Just very simple shot edited with selective color. Taken with a 11+ year old P&S in a family flower garden.

Here is one from over the river near out home. I framed a 24x36 canvas print of this and had an artist overlay oil based paint for the realistic effect and had it hanging in my wife's law practice. It's now in our home office.

I spend most of my time throughout the year shooting team sports and events. I love on-site action work.

Lake Michigan on a warm summer night in July.

I can't claim much about my car other than it provides me with a fun experience vs a daily sedan. However, I do like some of the lines when captured close. B&W is something I have a soft spot for too.

I've always liked a more warm tone to images. This is one of our neighbor with a completely digital backdrop.

More of my favorite subject. This was taken on my first fathers day back in 2003.

There's nothing like the innocence of a newborn. Our daughter Sophia at 1 day old.

It's all about the eyes. If you nail it, you can sell it. This is studio shot of my daughter with a digital backdrop added. Yeah, I'm partial to the subject.

I love this one for the emotion and passion Nick exudes. He has a footprint on his shoulder and a clear focus and determination in his stride.

A favorite of mine from years ago. Our beloved Jasmine, RIP

I know everyone has a favorite.. Mine might not look great to some. But I really enjoy this downtown shot.

Were you free standing with this shot or did you rest the camera on something or a tripod? Regardless Its a great picture, just looks like a tiny movement blurred some of the light based parts of the pic.

I have a cheap tripod. Between the tripod, bridge, and wind it did have tiny movement. But I was also having focus issues.

I personally like when my stuff if critiqued because I can then learn how to do it better the next time. I understand that some people don't like that (expecially when it's our favorite shot). There are different ways to view it.

This one is probably my all time favorite, I have it in my bed room printed as 16x24 on metallic paper and is the last and first photo I see each day. I don't think that version is my final edit, but could be wrong.

This one of Orion Nebula is something I dreamed of capturing since I was probably 6-7 years old and finally got the equipment and skills to do it.

Oh and I just love this recent one of my oldest daughter. We took her and little sister to Innis Wood for a fairy photo shoot a few weeks ago.

I am soo jelly! I have always wanted to do space shots like that! One day maybe! Closest I got was using my 400 and a doubler and shooting the moon when it was super close!

Thanks, I'm very proud of that one because if you tried to shoot it you'd soon find out that the bright white core is about 15-20 stops brighter than the magenta cloud surrounding it which is way outside the range of digital cameras. This means you must shoot it twice, once to get the core exposed and next to get the faint detail, then combine them while blending well enough to not notice the two photos easily.

Core shot I think is about 30, 10 second shots combined then combined onto the faint regions about 30 photos at 2-3 minutes each combined, processed, and then adjusted to bring out the detail. In all the photo would take about 8-10 hrs to complete.
