It isn't into adulthood yet. The bones/joints are not yet strong enough to support any additional weight. If the dog weighed another 20-30lbs it could cause severe joint damage later in life. The brindle one on the left died about a year ago, his name was Zeus and at the time he was about 230 pounds. They had to put Zeus on a diet because at one point he was over 250 and did not carry the weight well. The fawn one on the right is the "puppy" Thor. He was about 9 months old at the time of this picture and has gotten even bigger. Right now I think he weighs about 175, but thinks he is a lap dog. Sadly enough they don't live typical long dog lives due to hip/joint problems which are common to all large breed dogs. I would bet to people he knows he is gently as a teddy bear. Now if I were to walk into the house not knowing the dog, I bet I get carried out on bags. Danes make great gaurd dogs. They don't chase much but they can bark a sound to make you crap your skin.
