Doc1647545523
After a month of troubleshooting (special thanks to Crossle, Cordell & Alex) and numerous sessions of wrenching by the techs at MD transmission and (especially) Wonderboy, the Viewt again moves under it's own power! http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/emoticons/happyanim.gif http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/Viewt%20stickered%20for%20Rally/atgatebutlevelleftfront.jpg And just in the nick of time, too, because it's running in the Ohio Mile this weekend. This will be the last ECTA event of 2012. I could use someone to take some photos of my run, which I suspect will be the first and the last at the Ohio Mile for the brave little Viewt. This mouse is going to ROAR, if only once! If you haven't seen the Mile, it's a good opportunity for you, as I'll provide your ride and pay your admission for the weekend. The event runs Friday through Sunday, but I'll only be there Friday for registration and tech, then Saturday to run. If you're interested, I need to leave Columbus Friday at 9 a.m. and we would be done early afternoon. On Saturday I need to leave Columbus by 6:30 a.m. and we would be back late afternoon. If you're considering participating in the event in 2013, this would be a great introduction for you. If you're attending on your own, please contact me if you're willing to shoot a few pics of the Viewt on the track. I'll gladly buy your lunch in exchange. Aaron
I'd be interested in showing up and snapping pics, but I couldn't commit to that kind of time frame.

Aaron
Will do doc. Do they give your track time before hand? If so, do you know when it'll be?
Cordell
It's a shame I work saturday or I'd like to go check it out. I am very glad to hear the Brave Lil Viewt is alive and well. Edited September 25, 2012 by Cordell
Doc1647545523
Do they give your track time before hand? If so, do you know when it'll be? No, it's a matter of staging, and it's hard to predict when the track might shut down and for how long. If I know you're on your way, I can jockey around to make it work, though. 93fox
I thought you were not allowed to run anymore? Whether it be in the Bentley or any car period? At least that's how I understood when I talked to an official at the one in April about your glory run
Doc1647545523
It appears you were misinformed. As I wrote in the thread about the event, the Bentley is banned for life. Perhaps the official thought you were talking about the guy who made a glory pass on his first safety run. That is a big no-no and he was banned for life. I completed all my safety runs by the book. The car was banned because I broke out of my safety class speed. This is one of the threads which explained things: http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=103147&highlight=wilmington The Viewt's registration number for this weekend's event is 9549 and payment was accepted over two months ago. 93fox
I guess I was then, he pointed right at your Bentley and proceeded to explain the whole ordeal. I could do nothing but laugh on the inside as the guy explained himself, because I had read your thread about it before I went out there, lol. Anyways, if I'm still in town, I would like to go for a little bit. Regardless, good luck Doc!
Doc1647545523
Thanks, Alex. I'm not sure which official gave you the story, but a couple of them are pretty ..... excitable, might be a good word for it. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/emoticons/rules.gif Keith Turk, the Racing Director, is actually a very reasonable guy. He did call me a "dickwad," but I don't hold that against him. The vast majority of the group are great guys, and a few of them are real Burt Munro types. They actually congratulate you after you break the rules and then tell you a story from Bonneville from the 60's. The Viewt isn't going to set any records, but I think that little car, with the exhaust cutout open and the pedal to the floor, is going to be an unusual and unexpected experience for the spectators. wnaplay1647545503
If my photography skills werent worse than a 3year old with a fisher-price camera I might consider going. Good luck Doc.
Doc1647545523
If my photography skills werent worse than a 3year old with a fisher-price camera I might consider going. Good luck Doc. You're welcome to go with me Friday, Jason. No pics to take that day, and we can drive the Viewt up and down the pits instead of walking. (My walking is pretty impaired right now and I know you have to limit yours, too). It's also the short day, when I'm done in tech, we can leave whenever you're ready. wnaplay1647545503
Doc I appreciate the offer but I have actually planned on trying to make it out to trails on friday for track day. If anything changes I will let you know and see if a spot is still available. Thanks so much for the offer.
wagner
Wife and I are in for saturday. I will bring all my photo gear. Do you think I can get a crew pass to get starting line shots? I will also have my go pro with me and we can put it on the beast.
Doc1647545523
They don't allow go-pros in the cars except for the media people. I will ask if I can get a crew bracelet for you. I think you have to get those in person on Friday at registration, but considering my *special status* with the officials, I might be able to pull it off. :lolguy: Thanks so much for helping with this. Text me when you're on your way there. I expect I'll make just one run. Although I'll try to stage early, there's gonna be a ton of bikes there and it's hard for me to gauge when I'll actually go down the track. But as I told Aaron, if I get your ETA, I can jockey around in the staging lanes a bit. I'd love to make my run early and then just go around with the CR guys and hang out. So you don't have the right to put a gopro in or on your own car? Not going to lie, that is the first time I have ever heard of such a rule. I could pull the media card since I do "work" for bangshift.com now. I think we will get there early so the timing thing with Aaron should not be an issue unless he wants to get there super early. If I can't get a crew pass that is fine, I should be able to get close enough over by staging and might have a trick or two to get close

Aaron
I might have to bail on this as I have tentatively sold my wifes winter wheels/tires, and have to drive them up to Mansfield Saturday. I'll keep you posted Doc.
Doc1647545523
Not a problem, Aaron. Wags has me covered on the pics. However, I hope you can still make it. I think you'd like the scene.
