its basically rubbing alcohol... use it in jello shots or make "apple jack" or "apple pie" with it

mix 1 gal of apple cider and 1 gal of apple juice in a large pot.

Bring to a rolling boil and let cool completely.

Add in the 1 bottle of everclear.

Bottle in individual mason jars

finally put in 1 cinnamon stick in each mason jar

hand out as gifts to co workers or enjoy for yourself.

its a good thing

How long do you let it boil? Just long enough to get it boiling?

Also, how long to let the cinnamon stick mellow?

yea just bring it to a rolling boil and then turn the heat off. As far as cinnamon sticks are concerned i just throw them in there and send them on their way. If that worries you ive read other recipes that suggest throwing in 7 stick in the mix and boil until the flavor is removed from the cinnamon sticks.

here is a sweeter variation via google.

1 qt. Everclear

1 gal. Apple Juice

1 gal. Cider, apple

7 sticks Cinnamon Stick

800 g (4 Cups) Sugar

Mixing Instructions

Mix apple juice, apple cider, sugar, and cinnamon sticks together. Boil until cinnamon sticks lose flavor. Add Everclear. Refrigerate.

If you didnt want to refrigerate you could actually "can" the liquid like when you make jelly.

if you wanted to boil the mixture longer, you could probably skip or cut down the sugar step. Boiling for 1-1.5 hrs would reduce the juice/cider mix down, boiling off more water leaving more flavor and give you a stronger alcohol by volume %

Rubbing alcohol? So, ethanol somehow becomes Isopropyl alcohol at high concentrations? That's a good one. Thanks :)

My apple pie recipe is a little different

2 gallons apple cider

1 gallon apple juice

1/2 cup brown sugar

Boil that for an hour to cook off some of the water and concentrate the flavors

Cool, and add 3 quarts of 150ish proof alcohol

Bottle it in 1 quart mason jars with a cinnamon stick in each

Let the jars sit for 3 or 4 days before drinking, the longer the better.

lol. forgot how hard it is to get that nasty shit in the 'weaker' parts of the country. i take for granted how simple/easy it is to get alcohol anytime/anywhere/anywhich way you want in wisconsin. every grocery store has a full-bore liquor department where you can get everclear for $12, and even kegs--at the grocery store. you want a bottle of whiskey at 6 am on sunday with your donuts?? done.
