May not be a big deal to some but this has been a trial to say the least. I know most of you aren't believers but the story behind this is chilling. I'll spare you all the time and simply say, God is good. :)

And no, I'm not naming it after anyone on here except for Mitch.

Hope to have a powerwheel driver of my own at CC&C some day. ;)

Except for the "nesting" phase. Thats pretty frigin awesome. Just buy some paint & turn her loose. Your whole house gets cleaned & painted.

Haha. So far she's just been sappy. Nothing too bad. We have been praying and waiting for so long that we're still in shock and really striving to understand each other. Not saying this phase won't come though. I'll keep you posted. :)

Congrats!

congrats man!

I'm glad you are so happy enjoy every but of it :)

Congrats Randy.

May you and your new family be blessed.

Thanks. :)

She already paints and is artsy/crafty. Our cabin is 100% knotty pine inside, floor to ceiling. All tongue & grooved boards laid down by my father, grandfather, and I. No painting in here. LOL.

Congrats and better start training yourself on sleeping less ;)

Psssh...as a youth pastor I rarely sleep anyways. I suppose I MIGHT sleep less, but it'd be a shock to me. Often she goes to bed around midnight and I'll be up some nights until 4:00am. She gets up at 5:30. As long as this baby can sleep for 1.5 hours solid we'll be fine...I hope.

When we brought our son home, he would not sleep if you laid him down on his own. I laid in bed with him sleeping on my chest for a few hours at a time so my wife could get some sleep. I was afraid to sleep because I worried I would roll over on him. Honestly, so far it's one of my favorite memories and even though i didn't sleep, I would never give back that bonding.

My wife's cousin had two little girls. Their youngest wouldn't let any guy hold her except her dad when she was little. One day at the in laws they were visiting and dad wasn't around. Nobody could get her to stop crying and rest. I took her, sat on the couch, and she fell asleep immediately. Instant bond. I hope the same is true for my child. That's an awesome memory you have man. Thanks for sharing.

Chiming in with the 'gratz!' chorus... with my little girl barely a month away, some observations:

- Morning sickness doesn't always hit in morning, and if you get the Princess Kate version, sucks hardcore. There isn't shit you can do except bring wifey whatever she wants (mine wanted a bottomless mug of hot water and ginger)

- Not all cravings suck (KFC Double Down, anyone??)

- Drop in at places like Babies'R'Us together just to see what's available. Body pillows and ab support bands in particular will help later on.

- Take care with what equipment you get from friends... practically every single crib made before 2011 has been recalled for some problem or another, so the odds of finding a hand-me-down, or being able to get a cheapy at shops like Once Upon a Child are pretty much nil. Baby Depot (at the far back of Burlington Coats on 161) has a small assortment options that run half the price of B'R'U.

- Same goes for car seats... seems as if those also get recalled or have their specs changed more often than a dirty diaper, and hospitals are required inspect them before letting folks go home.

- Most everything out there is geared towards mom. However, there are exceptions :)

- Keep wifey off the internet, or restrict her browsing to preggy porn and stuff like that. The only thing she'll accomplish by reading 20 bazillion preggy websites is scare her stupid.

^^ this. I loved taking my turn feeding and napping in my favorite recliner. On our love seat in which both sides are rocker/recliners, I would have 1-2 dogs next to me and a baby on my chest. Cool summer breeze blowing across all of us as we napped. Priceless.

Some good advice. It's def appreciated. As for some of the purchases, no worries there. This is my parents first grandchild and my mom has been waiting/praying for this moment as long as we have. She already told us to forget Christmas this year. It's all going towards the baby.

If you want a good deal on a car seat let me know. :)

Will do. Thanks. :)
