caseyctsv
It is a Music Man Sting Ray 5. I fell in love with the pics of this bass in this color. It was a limited run and it is no longer made. The color is called "Cardinal Red Sparkle". I am sure some will hate it but i think it is amazing - pics do not do the color justice. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/30/umuvy3e7.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/30/upapegen.jpg From the ad: http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/30/qega8a7e.jpg I know there are some musicians on this board and know what they are looking at. This is one of those situations where you cannot understand why someone would pay so much for a particular car when you can get one that works as well for a lot less. And then you drive the more expensive car... The craftsmanship on this thing is amazing. Oh well I thought I would share.

Diamonds
Used to have a 1980 Ric 4001. So pissed I sold it 15 years ago
xlr8tn
that thing is gorgeous....congrats. I play guitar but picked up a buddies bass a year or so ago and was impressed with how fun it was to play. It's an instrument I could see buying for myself at some point. I've been playing a lot lately....my son started playing the drums so that gave me a little motivation on getting back into it. It helps that he's into metal right now so we get to rock out the garage. I've been real impressed with how quick he's picking up the drums. His instructor says he's way ahead of where he should be which could just be him saying something good about a paying customer but I don't think so. He's only been taking lessons for about 6 months and can rock out master of puppets, megadeth holy wars, and does a pretty good job with A7X's nightmare. Otis Nice
:megusta: Always wanted a MM, but my Ibanez 405QM is just so smooth and I got a stellar deal on it. Someday...someday.

Absolutely agree, and for what I got mine for I KNOW you can't. Taded a non-working 305 (that was a gift) this shop had worked on twice before +$200 cash for it new. FourString
Mmmmmmm love the Stringray. I'm more partial to the Bongo just for the looks alone, but you have one sweet bass there. What kind of rig do you have?
Gergwheel1647545492
I don't know shit about guitars, so this is all i have to add. http://media3.giphy.com/media/nEsJLaNaKJlC0/giphy.gif

What kind of rig do you have? SWR workingman 400 and a 2X10 custom Avatar cabinet. I will eventually add a 2X15 or 4X12 but what I have now is more than enough for playing in church;)

I've got an OLP Music Man 5 that I just disassembled after finding after 5 years. I'm going to sand it down, have my gf do some wood burning or some kind of design into the natural finish, then clearcoat it before putting a real EMG Humbucker in it. Then I'll probably sell it because I haven't played in forever. My cousin plays a Stingray 4 tuned waaaaaaaaayyyyyy down. http://www.metalsucks.net/2013/06/07/big-bottoms-jeff-caxide-of-palmsisis/ EDIT: And for what it's worth, there's only one bass out there I think surpasses the MM5 and that's the Warwick Corvette Neck Through but that's a totally different sound/purpose. You can really dial a super funky tone out of one, especially with that Avatar. Next time I come to C&C and you're there, we'll have to chat. Otis Nice
my next purchase... (if I ever buy a bass again) will be a G&L. Nice MM by the way. similar style. Yes! My mentor growing up owns a G&L. Every once in awhile I still get to play it. Smoove like butta. SWR workingman 400 and a 2X10 custom Avatar cabinet. I will eventually add a 2X15 or 4X12 but what I have now is more than enough for playing in church;) My current setup, used mainly in church these days: http://www.samsontech.com/site_media/cms/images/product/hartke/amplifiers/lh-series-amplifiers/lh500/LH500-display.jpg http://img.etonals.com/p/300/EM_HCV215.jpg
FourString
All Hartke, eh? How's that setup sound? I've never played through a Hartke head before. Oh well if we're showing off our toys, here's (part of) my home setup: With the 405QM and my friends G&L it's amazing...especially since I paid $200 for the VX215 new and the folks got me the head for Christmas a few years back. Can't beat that. Impressive collection. A good acoustic is something else I want to add but I think I will go stand up next. I just have the Ibanez and an '86 P-Bass that was bought new and played all over the country by my mom. I love both of my basses though. Wouldn't trade the Fender for anything. The Ib for $200 and $200 in my rig? Can't beat the tone for $400. EDIT: Love the pic on the wall. Most "bassists" I know couldn't even tell ya who that is. You can't beat a cheap mini rig that just sounds good. To this day, one of the best sounding rigs I have ever heard is an SWR Workingman combo, and it was just a little 4x10. A lot of it was the fingers playing the bass, though. A good musician can make nearly anything sound good. I have a nice acoustic now, but I recently played a Martin acoustic that I nearly melted with because it felt so perfect. I think I will stick with the Takamine for the rest of this year, and pick up the Martin next year. Lastly, you're right. He has been one of my main inspirations for many years. Not so much the playing style (hard for me to mimic), but rather his contribution to the community. If you have never had a chance to read the book about him written by Bill Milkowski, then I HIGHLY recommend it. :megusta: Ampeg What's that neck through in the middle, Ibanez SR? That is a Peavey Cirrus 4 NT in claro walnut. Plays like buttah!

Unless I'm not seeing it well(on my phone), interesting he's not playing his sunburst jazz. I don't know if I've seen a picture of him playing anything but. FourString
Pat, he played several basses after the Bass of Doom was lost/stolen. This would have been post-BOD. Side note: the BOD was found a few years back and is now owned by Robert Trujillo of Metallica. It was restored (looks NOTHING like it used to) and he takes it out on tour sometimes. I'll be honest, it severely pisses me off. That bass belongs to Jaco's children.
