jblosser
i know a stock goldwing had the land speed record for many years but don't know what years for sure :lol:Honda Rebel had it before the 'Wing...Land speed records @ Wikipedia Plenty of BMW, Yamaha, Triumph, H-D; then the pursuers of the record started using those streamlined non-motorcycle-looking things...Back on topic of "fastest production", I'm gonna say the Blackbird in '97 at 178mph, eclipsed by the 'Busa in 1999 at 190mph. Not sure anything's faster. If someone wants to loan me their S1000RR or new RSV4 Factory, I'll be happy to check...!
ReconRat
MV Agusta is currently producing the F4 1078 RR 312. 312kph being the recorded top speed at the Salt Flats in Utah in 2007.The RR312 reached a recorded top speed of 195, but since speeds are averaged, it's recorded top speed is 194mph, or metric, 312kph.I don't like the source, is this for real? ShallowGraves
Don't forget the early 80s Honda Sabre. It was also named fastest production bike available at the time. "(They forgot to say they were like riding a half ton fence post.) But still carried the title.

Tpoppa
On another forum, I read that a HD Sportster was the fastest production bike for a time in the late 50's. I am having a hard time believing that. Edited April 1, 2010 by Tpoppa
