BigSaxy
i ride a suzuki sv650s. the bike runs great. i am still new to riding. the problem is that the bike takes forever just to reach about 65 mph. is there something i'm not doing or is that just typical of the sv's. Disclaimer
Did you remember to put NOS in the tank?
Zach
what do you mean by 'forever'?SV 0-60 is like 3.5 seconds
RSVDon
Sorry man, you're going to have to be a little more specific than "takes forever to get to 65". Is this in comparison to someone elses bike? Are you measuring the time needed? What.
JonS
Nope, not that problem here
conn-e-rot
3.5 seconds shit
swingset
3.5 seconds shitIf it were a car, you'd be paying $50k in engine work, or buying a supercar to get that kind of takeoff.I'm more happy with how fast a bike can get from 35 to 80, myself. That's where the good power is.
conn-e-rot
Seriously though what are you basing this on? I had a ninja 650r and I thought it was fairly quick then I rode with some guys 1 on zx9 and 1 on t595 I found out the 650r was a dog. If your happy with your bike then don't worry about it..... but if you start comparing it to bigger bikes or even supersport 600's your going to find yourself wanting something more. conn-e-rot
I've rode with several people on here with sv650's and those bikes can run and they handle great
rpone605
I'd be curious to find out if he is short shifting the bike.Granny shifting not double clutching......
BigSaxy
i think i may just be shifting too early and may just be comparing the speed to bigger bikes
RC51 John
Don't short shift the v-twin. Run that sucka up to 9k.
redkow97
SV 0-60 is like 3.5 secondsmaybe with a burnout and Ricky Gadsen behind the bars. I think "under 5" is more realistic, unless you do a lot of practice at the drag strip.and who cares anyway? I almost NEVER go 0-60. 99% of the time I accelerate hard it's 2nd gear roll-on while getting onto the highway.Figure that's 20-75, if we're being real. Should still take about 5 seconds. Zach
SV's are pretty easy to launch. The low end torque of the v-twin is pretty forgiving.
