Casper
http://abcnews.go.com/m/screen?id=12097155Seems a mystery rocket was launched and caught by street camera.A news crew caught it on camera too. I've been following this one all day. Very interesting. The military isn't even trying to cover it up, which leads me to believe they really don't know what it was or where it came from. That is terrifying. NORAD didn't pick it up. Neither did radar. I personally think someone (China? Russia? Iran?) just pulled the trump card on our asses. Or, we just showed someone they'll never see us coming.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CeykxMfCyEQhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9W78BBXmf5Yhttp://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/11/09/missile-shot-los-angeles-mystery-pentagon-officials/http://www.stripes.com/blogs/stripes-central/stripes-central-1.8040/pentagon-no-answers-yet-on-california-missile-1.124938http://www.geekosystem.com/california-missile/http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/40087187/ns/us_news-security/http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/breaking-news/pentagon-calls-mystery-missile-unexplained-cannot-rule-out-threat/story-e6frf7jx-1225950540060

ohdaho
Theres always test going on off the southern coast of cali...esp in the pt mugu area. Just bc a base commander says he doesnt know that a test is going on, doesnt mean there wasnt one. He may very well not be involved in signing off a test pkg. It was not a US military missile, unless accidentally fired and not reported.
wrillo
"At this time, we are unable to provide specific details, but we are working to determine the exact nature of this event. We can confirm that there is no indication of any threat to our nation and we will provide more information as it becomes available."I find it odd that they "don't know anything about it", but they can confirm it isn't/wasn't a national threat. It was not a US military missile, unless accidentally fired and not reported.whether its OT&E or DT&E, those agencies may not even be notified. Almost all of the testing done at Edwards AFB, no one that high in the MIL is notified. They may say there was no testing to their knowledge. Keep in mind scaled composites and other experimental research companies also are based in socal.

fox_racing_guy
"Model Rockets" can be much larger than some of you are thinking. I was just at a launch in South Charleston, Ohio this past weekend for a launch and the model pictured in this sequence is 8' 4" tall. That flight went to just over 12,000' and we have a FAA waiver to 18,000' at that location. Now you can't just go and set these types off in your backyard and you must be certified by either of 2 national organizations just to purchase the motors for that type of flight. Up until last year you needed a federal explosives permit to purchase/store/use them. The event in CA was probably a classified target test missile launch from San Nicolas Island.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Nicolas_Islandhttp://www.navair.navy.mil/ranges/SE...SEA/FS_SNI.pdfTarget test missiles for the ABL Tests are launched from there, as are target test missiles for the Alaskan GMD Tests. ohdaho
Boeing is the only one out there (on an island just south of where it was seen). They said no testing since Friday.Testing is done by multiple agencies down in that area. Its right there by the channel islands where theres a multi-agency test corridor used for over water test missions. ReconRat
Whoever, it's clear they wanted it to be seen.Or there was something somewhere that just had to be destroyed immediately.More interesting, that it can't be seen on radar. That's either true or false, but now has people guessing. If true, it's a major big deal. Stealth ICBM. (SLBM)Since it wasn't announced, the launch could not be monitored by foreign powers. They always monitor and collect data. With this launch, they have nothing.Yeah, it's a message to somebody somewhere.I'll go with submarine launch (SLBM). Or there would have been various records of sea traffic in that area at the time. It looks like a Trident D5. Whatever it is, it appears to be big. Good luck finding where it landed. It has a 7000 mile range. Trident D5 has an epoxy composite structure, I'm not sure it would be much on ordinary radar. You'd have to find it with a targeting radar scan. Maybe.Image of a Trident D5 launch from a submarine:http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/Wr6lbpw_n7998E7Zkt6pPQ
